Night of the Third Day of Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, the bochur Avrohom Simcha son of R' Menashe Gottlieb lit the menorah.

At around 9:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the hechal of the Great Beis Medrash in Kiryas Joel for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a large crowd, with the splendor of a king. The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings with holy fervor.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and inspiring nigunim were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as customary.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah discourse of drush and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos of "kivsa zokuk lah," and then continued with words of aggadah and mussar, and concluded with his holy blessings.

After the discourse the singing of nigunim continued; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It concluded at around 10:35.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a went over to Mivtzar HaKollelim, where the annual hischazkus gathering of the 'Leil Shishi Group' took place. Several inspiring nigunim were sung, and R' Hershel Kohn shlit"a spoke.
The Rebbe shlit"a drank a lechayim and wished the entire gathering well, and delivered holy words of hischazkus, praising the distinguished group that strengthens itself in the service of Hashem, and speaking of the importance in our times of even a small good deed in the service of Hashem. He said, "To remain a Chassidic Jew in the year 5783 is possible only by learning Chassidic seivorim and by associating with Chassidic Jews in one group," and concluded with abundant blessings. It concluded at around 11:10.

Night of the Second Day of Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, the bochur Wolf son of R' Yoel Stein lit the menorah.

At around 9:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the hechal of the Great Beis Medrash in Kiryas Joel for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a large crowd, with the splendor of a king. The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings with holy fervor.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and inspiring nigunim were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as customary.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah discourse of drush and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos of "kivsa zokuk lah," and then continued with words of aggadah, explaining that the Chanukah light imparts wisdom of the Torah, through whose study all good blessings in material matters come down, and concluded with his holy blessings.

After the discourse, the Rebbe of the Yishmach Moshe Beis Medrash, the chairman of the Beis Medrash, shlit"a, greeted the Rebbe after returning from Eretz Yisroel, where he had stayed among our holy kehilla in Bnei Brak on 21 Kislev and Shabbos Kodesh. The Rebbe listened with great nachas to a report of the growth and great success among our holy kehilla and its mosdos.
Afterwards the singing of nigunim continued; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It concluded at around 10:30.


Tuesday, Parshas Miketz, Second Day of Chanukah

In the morning, before Shacharis, the bris of a newborn son took place at the home of the prominent askan R' Avrohom Yosha Glanz, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis together with the talmidim of Mesivta, Etz Chaim branch, third-year class, in Beis Medrash Yirei Hashem in the Smith Farm neighborhood in the Kiryas Joel area.
The Rebbe approached Hallel with great hisoreros, and during the Torah reading was called up as Shlishi.

After davening, the Rebbe went over to visit HaGaon Rabbi Mordechai Friedman shlit"a, rabbi of the beis medrash and rebbe in the mesivta. A pleasant conversation developed; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and shared his holy blessings.

The Rebbe davened Mincha at around 5:10 in his holy home in Kiryas Joel.

Monday, Parshas Mikeitz, First Day of Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning before Shacharis, brisos took place.
For the newborn son of R' Shmuel Eliezer Perl, where the Rebbe was sandek.
For the newborn son of R' Shlomo Brach, where the Rebbe was sandek.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the following bar mitzvah bochurim:
The bochur Shmuel Meir Berkowitz.
The bochur Yekusiel Shraga Feivel Gandel.
The Rebbe approached Hallel with great fervor, and during the Torah reading, hagbah was performed.
After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

In the afternoon at around 5:10, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

Night of the first day of Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, R' Berel Stein lit the menorah.

At around 9:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Heichal of the Great Beis Medrash in Kiryas Joel for the Chanukah candle lighting, amid a large crowd, in royal splendor. The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the brachos with fiery fervor.
The Rebbe then recited the zemiros, and inspiring melodies were sung. The choir sang the piyutim as customary, and R' Moshe Levi Brown delighted the crowd with chazzanus on the piyut of Yevanim.

The Rebbe shlit"a then delivered holy words of Torah discourse and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos of "kivsa zakuk lah." He then continued with words of aggadah about the severe ugliness of indulging in the desires of this world, and cautioned not to be dragged after the desires of America, concluding with his holy blessing.

After the holy words, the singing of melodies continued. The Rebbe continued his holy words by relating a story about his grandfather, the holy Yitav Lev zy"a, concerning indulging in desires. The Rebbe then drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It ended at around 10:20.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Vayeishev, Mevorchim Chodesh Teves — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

On Friday night at around 5:10 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Yaakov Yechezkel Gandel.

The davening concluded at around 6:40. The crowd went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe shlit"a went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:35 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos seudah in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidei hamesivta, and began, in his holy manner, 'Shalom Aleichem' with emotion and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the grandson of the Rebbe, the bochur Meir Eliezer Teitelbaum, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav of the beis medrash Beirach Moshe shlit"a. Raising the cup for Kiddush: the grandson of the Rebbe, Rabbi Dovid Teitelbaum shlit"a, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Rashi "Yaakov sought to dwell in tranquility, and the anger of Yosef pounced upon him," and explained it in the manner of a derush on the topic of ta'am k'ikar.

During the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a focused on the verse "And it was on such a day that he came to the house to do his work," and explained that with the power of Shabbos, through which the hidden light illuminates the eyes of Yisroel, one can be certain what is a mitzvah and what is a sin. "When the wicked Greek kingdom rose up against Your people Yisroel to make them forget Your Torah," because also through the Torah, in which the hidden light is concealed, one can stand firm against the yetzer hara. He continued with words of preparation for Chanukah, that the Chanukah lights illuminate the eyes.

Thursday, Parshas Vayeishev, 21 Kislev, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe helped the following bar mitzvah bochurim put on tefillin:
The bochur Yoel Tambor.
The bochur Avrohom Yoel Roth.
During the Torah reading the Rebbe went up for Hagbah, and after davening a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the morning hours the Rebbe shlit"a visited our kehilla's matzah bakery, and afterwards affixed a mezuzah on the new wing that was added on, and walked around the new wing and looked over the expansion of the holy premises.
Afterwards the Rebbe went over for his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

In the afternoon at around 5:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.
After Mincha, at around 5:30, the Rebbe shlit"a arrived at the Seudas Hoda'ah gathering of "21 Kislev" in the hall of the mesivta of the Rebbe, the Baal HaNes zy"a - at the Beirach Moshe branch, together with the talmidim of all the branches. They sang "Chasdei Hashem" and songs of thanksgiving, and the Rebbe danced in place for an extended time.
The Rebbe shlit"a drank lechayim and blessed the maspidei Torah and all the bochurim, and delivered holy words and guidance. He first greeted the esteemed guest R' Naftali Lebowitz shlit"a, one of the Rebbe's scribes to the Rebbe zy"a, and spoke of how, when one contemplates the state of Yiddishkeit in America 80 years ago and how it looks today, praise and thanks to Hashem come out on their own for having saved the Rebbe zy"a from the valley of the shadow of death. He emphasized the tremendous devotion the Rebbe zy"a had for the bochurim, like a father to a child, and the tremendous privilege and obligation to learn in a Satmar yeshiva. In conclusion, the Rebbe praised the bochurim who are working to reduce wedding expenses, both regarding shtreimlach and regarding music, and to lift off the heavy expenses that rest on a father's head when making a wedding. He also urged the chassanim, "the wise man has his eyes in his head," to see to it that they order Rabbeinu Tam tefillin early enough to be able to have mehudar tefillin. The Rebbe also spoke about the takanah of the Rebbe zy"a not to attend weddings, and concluded with his holy blessing. It ended around 6:15.
