"Therefore Zion weeps bitterly, and Yerushalayim raises her voice"

With shattered hearts, tonight, the night of 7 Adar, the funeral procession took place for the two damaged Sifrei Torah and holy writings, may Hashem avenge them, from the terrible fire at our kehilla's building and holy mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim.

The procession took place in the plaza of our great beis medrash, Berach Moshe, on Rechov Yonah in the holy city of Yerushalayim, with the participation of hundreds of our chassidim in Eretz Yisroel, old and young, together with thousands of residents of the holy city of Yerushalayim, led by the Rabbonim HaGeonim shlit"a and the members of the Beis Din Tzedek of the Eida HaChareidis, who accompanied the two Sifrei Torah, together with all the sacred articles, with bitter weeping.

Beginning at approximately 7:00 in the evening in Eretz Yisroel, the two damaged Sifrei Torah were brought out to the plaza of our great beis medrash, together with the many tefillin and other sacred articles. HaRav R' Yaakov Mendel Neulinger shlit"a, one of the rabbonim of our holy kehilla and the permanent baal tefilla of the Yamim Noraim, began reciting chapters of Tehillim, and then recited the kinos of Tisha B'Av over the terrible loss, continuing with various chapters of Tehillim.

Afterward, the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Yerushalayim shlit"a, began his solemn words with bitter weeping and aroused the entire assembly to teshuva and to correct their deeds. After his address, the dayan shlit"a recited the "Vidui" together with the entire assembly with great arousal.

Next, HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Shimon Yitzchak Schlesinger shlit"a, a member of the Beis Din Tzedek, spoke words of eulogy, chizuk and arousal.

After the address, the posek hador, master of the holy land, Maran the Rav Av Beis Din of Yerushalayim shlit"a arrived. A chapter of Tehillim was recited, and then the Rav shlit"a delivered holy words in a voice hewing flames of fire, words of arousal, strengthening himself in matters that require strengthening. He said that the Satan is working against all these good efforts to uphold the faith, through the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, and he asked that people help rebuild the great and holy building in full splendor and glory, which will be the best answer to the Satan, and that "the glory of this latter House shall be greater than the former." He concluded with his holy blessings.

Afterward, HaGaon Rabbi Yaakov Mendel Neulinger shlit"a recited the selichos "Ezkera Elokim," and together with the assembly accepted upon themselves "the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven."

Then the gabbaim of the Chevra Kadisha recited a chapter of Tehillim, and the two donors of the Sifrei Torah, R' Dovid Frei shlit"a and R' Moshe Abramowitz shlit"a, recited Kaddish Yasom with bitter weeping.

After the funeral, R' Yissachar Jacobs, director of our holy mosdos in Yerushalayim, announced the entire order of tomorrow's day of tefilla and fasting with weeping and lamentation, in accordance with the holy instructions of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

At around 8:45 the entire assembly began escorting the Sifrei Torah, as the streets of Yerushalayim were black with the thousands of escorts who accompanied the two damaged Sifrei Torah and all the sacred articles with deep sorrow and brokenness on the way to Har HaMenuchos.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a Appoints New Board Members in America to Head the Holy Mosdos Yitev Lev in Eretz Yisroel

At a gathering held last night, Sunday night, in the Satmar Rebbe's shlit"a home in Kiryas Joel, the Rebbe shlit"a appointed a group of fresh, energetic askanim as board members of Mosdos Yitev Lev in America, to head the holy Mosdos Yitev Lev in Eretz Yisroel — both to assist the board members of the mosdos in Eretz Yisroel to expand the borders of holiness of the mosdos in Yerushalayim, Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh, and for the many-branched activities of the American office, which is engaged in raising the necessary funds to cover and finance the holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel.

The gathering took place at an opportune time, as Mosdos Yitev Lev is preparing in the coming days to approach the public of our chassidim with a major campaign to be able to pay the hundreds of kelei kodesh of Mosdos Yitev Lev in Eretz Yisroel for the upcoming Yom Tov of Pesach, may it come to us for good. Much strength is needed so that the office here in America can keep up with the heavy work of paying the melamdim and kelei kodesh of the holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel.

Present at the gathering were the Chassidic R' Meir Hirsch, one of the leaders of our kehilla and our holy mosdos and one of the heads of Mosdos Yitev Lev, who in recent years has devoted himself with all his energy to the Yamim Tovim so that the melamdim and teachers in Eretz Yisroel can be paid for Yom Tov. Together with him were present the two devoted, distinguished philanthropists, HaRav R' Avrohom Brach, one of the leaders of our holy kehilla in Williamsburg, and HaRav R' Avrohom Yehoshua HaKohen Glanz, one of the leaders of our holy kehilla in Kiryas Joel, who in recent years have thrown themselves into the thick of the effort to help and stand at the right hand of Mosdos Yitev Lev, particularly with the expansion of the borders of holiness of our kehilla and our holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel.

The following distinguished, longtime askanim in all matters of holiness were appointed: HaRav R' Menachem Yuda Schlesinger (Williamsburg), HaRav R' Avrohom Sofer (Williamsburg), HaRav R' Yoel Landau (Kiryas Joel), and HaRav R' Moshe Eliyahu Wertzberger (Kiryas Joel).

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a gave his holy blessing to the new board members, and noted how the mosdos have grown beautifully, bli ayin hara, in Yerushalayim, in Bnei Brak and in Beit Shemesh, and with that the burden and the obligation of the large sums that must be sent from America have also grown.

The Rebbe praised the workers of the office and the askanim of Mosdos Yitev Lev, who, Baruch Hashem, have succeeded in raising income much more than before, but it is still a case of "a handful does not satisfy the lion," and outside help can still be used to expand the activities, and so that the mosdos in Eretz Yisroel will have a listening ear to turn to in times of need. For this reason the fresh, devoted board members are being appointed, so that together with the above-mentioned askanim they will head all the activities, with Hashem's help, to magnify and glorify Torah.

The Rebbe concluded with words of chizuk to the board and askanim in lashon kodesh: "I, the small one, will IY"H also make myself available for everything that Yitev Lev needs. Whether one needs to go near or one needs to go far, whatever needs to be done, we will do everything for the success of Mosdos Yitev Lev! It is a privilege for all of us, it is a privilege for me, and it is a privilege for you, that one can lend a hand, a shoulder, to the holy mosdos."

The Rebbe also expressed the wish that the merit of the founder of the mosdos should stand by all who help the mosdos, that they should be helped with everything good, and be blessed with success and great siyata dishmaya.

Afterwards, HaRav R' Meir Hirsch described in a few words the heavy burden that rests on the Rebbe shlit"a to cover the holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel, and strongly praised the devoted askanim HaRav R' Avrohom Brach and R' Avrohom Yehoshua Glanz, who devote themselves with heart and soul to the success of the holy mosdos.

Sunday, Parshas Tetzaveh — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Mordechai Leib Zwebel (Monsey).
After davening, the Rebbe led the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 16, verse 3.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe shlit"a went on his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a made a telephone condolence call to HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Nosson HaKohen Kupshitz shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Nachlah U'Menucha Beis Shemesh and member of the Beis Din Tzedek of the Eida HaChareidis of the holy city of Yerushalayim, on the passing of his brother a"h.

The Rebbe shlit"a then went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Kedushas Yoel branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room. At 6:10 the Rebbe davened Mincha in the yeshiva.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:

At 8:00 a meeting took place in the Rebbe's holy home, at which the Rebbe shlit"a appointed new leadership to the administration of Mosdos Yatev Lev in Eretz Yisroel, the distinguished askanim: the esteemed R' Menachem Yuda Schlesinger (Williamsburg), the esteemed R' Avrohom Sofer (Williamsburg), the esteemed R' Yoel Landau (Kiryas Joel), and the esteemed R' Moshe Eliyahu Wertzberger (Kiryas Joel). Together with the current active administration, they will head the holy tzedakah of Mosdos Yatev Lev in Eretz Yisroel and the broad activities of the American office to raise the enormous funds for the holy mosdos, and, of course, at the same time will be in contact with the administrations of the mosdos throughout Eretz Yisroel on all matters of the mosdos.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words, in which he first expressed with great pain the terrible incident in the holy city of Yerushalayim this past Shabbos. He then spoke of the great merit of being a part of the holy work, and bestowed his holy brachos upon the new members of the administration. Afterwards, R' Meir Hirsch, one of the heads of the administration of Mosdos Yatev Lev, presented various matters to the incoming team, having served for years among the heads of the administration of the mosdos. He also spoke of the privilege of standing at the right hand of the Rebbe shlit"a for the benefit of Mosdos Yatev Lev, which throughout all the years was the most sacred matter to our holy Rebbes zy"a, and to the Rebbe shlit"a.

The times of entry to the Rebbe's holy room were from about 8:30 until 11:50 at night, at his holy home on Uhel Street.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tnaim at the tnaim celebration in his holy home of the mechutanim, HaRav R' Moshe Avrohom Schoenbrun - HaRav R' Chaim Shlomo Fischer, of our kehilla. After the tnaim were read, the Rebbe drank lechayim and warmly wished mazel tov to R' Chaim Shlomo, to the chosson and to the entire gathering.

The Rebbe then read the tnaim at the tnaim celebration of the mechutanim R' Moshe Yaakov Yuda Wertzberger - R' Yoel Weiss.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at about 11:55 in his holy home.

Motzei Shabbos, Parshas Terumah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Immediately after Havdalah, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a was informed of the terrible tragedy of the fire in our holy kehilla in Yerushalayim, the holy city.

From the beis medrash, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the home of R' Meir Hirsch, on the occasion of the wedding of his granddaughter, where the Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed of his holy blessings.

At ten o'clock the Rebbe shlit"a held a meeting by telephone with the leadership of our holy kehilla in Yerushalayim, the holy city, at the home of HaGaon Rabbi, the Dayan and Moreh Hora'ah of our kehilla in Yerushalayim shlit"a, and with great pain inquired about and heard a first-hand report on the bitter tragedy.
The Rebbe shlit"a instructed the kehilla leadership to designate Tuesday, 7 Adar, as a day of prayer and fasting with weeping and lamentation, and that all men and bochurim of our community in Yerushalayim, the holy city, should fast; bochurim past bar mitzvah and under 18 should fast for half a day; and whoever is unable to fast should redeem it with money as a pidyon nefesh. Additionally, a proper burial should be arranged for the damaged sifrei Torah.

At around 12:00 the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the halls of Kinor David to participate in the Sheva Brachos celebration of the chassan, son of HaRav R' Shalom Moshe Lipschitz shlit"a, Dayan of Beis Medrash Beis Mordechai, with the kallah, granddaughter of the HaGaon HaGadol, Dayan of Kiryas Joel shlit"a, arranged by the mispallelim of Beis Medrash Beis Mordechai in honor of the Dayan of the beis medrash.
R' Hershel Friedman performed as badchan, and a pleasant gathering ensued; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed of his holy blessings. After Birchas Hamazon, the Rebbe recited the Sheva Brachos and then went out dancing with the chassan and the mechutanim. It concluded at around 12:30.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Terumah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Shabbos afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a put the shtreimel on the chassan Meir, the bochur son of Yaakov Yitzchak Steinmetz.

On Friday night at around 6:15, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The davening ended at around 7:50. The congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room.

At around 8:30, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos table in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the mesivta, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Let them take for Me a terumah," and explained that through learning Torah, one is considered as if he fulfilled all the mitzvos, even those that cannot be fulfilled in practice. "Whoever learns the Torah of the olah is as if he offered an olah." By saying the Seder HaKorbanos every morning before davening, one's sins are atoned for just as when the Tamid was offered, and so one can stand to daven. One must strengthen oneself in this matter and know that the Anshei Knesses HaGedolah arranged the order of davening in a proper order, and so one must daven and not be disparaging of it. "May this recitation be accepted as if we had offered the korban Tamid."

Now, on Motzei Shabbos, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a held a meeting by telephone with the administration of our holy kehilla in the holy city of Yerushalayim, and listened with great pain to a firsthand report of the bitter tragedy.

The Rebbe shlit"a instructed the administration of our kehilla to designate Tuesday, 7 Adar, as a day of prayer and fasting, with weeping and eulogy, and that all men of our community in the holy city of Yerushalayim should fast, bochurim above bar mitzvah should fast half a day, and whoever cannot should redeem themselves with money as a pidyon nefesh. In addition, a proper levaya should be arranged for the damaged Sifrei Torah.

All the details of the levaya and the schedule of the day of weeping and eulogy will be published by the administration of our holy kehilla in the holy city of Yerushalayim.

At the same time, the devoted members of the administration in Eretz Yisroel are working together with the administration here in the United States so that the details and arrangements in the beis medrash and in the Talmud Torah will be put in order, and it is hoped that already tomorrow morning a proper schedule of tefillos and learning will begin in our holy kehilla and mosdos without disruption.

And all of the House of Israel shall bewail the burning that Hashem has kindled.

Therefore Zion weeps bitterly, and Yerushalayim raises her voice, for You, Hashem, set her aflame with fire.

A terrible fire broke out early Shabbos morning in the buildings of our kehilla and mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim, in which, sadly, among other things, two Sifrei Torah and a number of tefillin and mezuzos were, due to our sins, destroyed, Rachmana litzlan.

The fire began on Friday night at approximately 1:30 after midnight in the Talmud Torah building, and the entire hall was burned down. The remaining parts of the building suffered severe damage and are completely unusable. Likewise, the adjacent beis medrash building caught fire at the southeast corner near the Tehillos Moshe Aryeh shtiebel, where the Sifrei Torah were damaged, Hashem yerachem, and caused great damage to the entire building, so that a large part of the roof in the main hall of the beis medrash collapsed.

During the last hours of Motzei Shabbos, the administration of the kehilla and mosdos has been meeting in Eretz Yisroel to find places to accommodate the beis medrash along with the yeshiva and the Talmud Torah. Various kehillos and mosdos have offered to help our holy kehilla, and it is hoped, b'ezras Hashem, to arrange temporarily all the departments of the mosdos already by tomorrow morning, b'ezras Hashem. Likewise, the administration of our mosdos in Bnei Brak has offered the Yerushalayim administration of the mosdos every kind of assistance possible, so that the learning should not be interrupted. Starting tomorrow, IY"H, the kitchen of the Bnei Brak mosdos will cook for both mosdos and send out hearty breakfast and lunch for the talmidim of the Talmud Torah in Yerushalayim.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a was informed of the bad news on Motzei Shabbos immediately after Havdalah, and IY"H will hold a telephone meeting with HaGaon Rabbi, the Av Beis Din of Yerushalayim shlit"a, together with the administration of our kehilla in Yerushalayim, in the coming hours, to decide what to do regarding the bitter occurrence and the obligation of the hour, regarding a day of fasting and eulogy and a levaya for the Sifrei Torah that were damaged, Hashem yerachem.

May it be Hashem's will that no more destruction and devastation be heard in our borders.

Thursday, Parshas Terumah 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Brach Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

The bochur Yoel Greenfeld.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe went up for Hagbah, and after davening he delivered the daily Tehillim shiur on chapter 16, verse 6. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the afternoon at around 6:20, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol on the occasion of the simcha of the bris milah of his grandson, born to Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the recital of Hallel with great hisoreros.

After the bris, the entire tzibbur went over to wish mazel tov to the Rebbe shlit"a, and the Rebbe went into his private room, where a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim.

Afterwards, the seudas bris milah took place in the Cheder Shmuel Chaim in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. During the seudah, the father of the baby, Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a, spoke, as did the grandfathers, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Avrohom Meir Halberstam shlit"a, and HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Beis Aharon shlit"a.
The Rebbe honored his grandson Rabbi Avrohom Yehoshua Heshel Rokeach shlit"a with "Barchi Nafshi," and his grandson Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Horowitz shlit"a, son-in-law of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, with "Yom Leyabasha."

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered divrei kodesh on the topics of bris milah, and warmly wished the baal simcha, the grandfathers, and the entire tzibbur well.
The Rebbe honored his son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, with leading Birkas Hamazon, and the family members with the Harachaman prayers. It concluded at around 1:45.

Afterwards, the Rebbe went on his weekly visit to the matzah bakery of our holy kehilla.

In the afternoon at around 6:20, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
Rabbi Zev Elazar Reichman shlit"a (and his wife) - Rabbi Avrohom Hersh Zaldan shlit"a, at Kinor David hall.
R' Lipa Friedrich a"h - R' Pinchas Yechezkel Breuer, at Beis Rachel Paradise hall.

After the chuppahs, the Rebbe comforted the mourner, HaRav HaChassid R' Mordechai Goldberger, on the passing of his father a"h.
Times for entering kodesh penimah were from around 8:15 until 11:50 at night, in his holy home on Ohel Court.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim at the tenaim held in his holy home for the mechutanim R' Amram Nosson Felberbaum - R' Moshe Baruch Katz.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:50 in his holy home.

Tuesday, Parshas Terumah, 1 Rosh Chodesh Adar — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, brisos took place.
For the newborn son of R' Efraim Fishel Freund, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.
For the newborn son of R' Mordechai Aharon Mezei, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Yeshiva Ketana branch of Kedushas Yom Tov, under the leadership of HaRav HaGaon R' Shmuel Meir Levy shlit"a.
Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin with the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Shmuel Feuerstein.
The Rebbe shlit"a approached the recitation of Hallel with great fervor, and during the Torah reading he was called up for the fourth aliyah, and afterwards he recited Birkas HaGomel upon returning from the holy journey to the city of the Avos, Sighet.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place. The Rebbe drank lechayim and offered blessings to the bar mitzvah bochur, the mashgichim, and all the bochurim, delivered words of Torah and guidance regarding Torah study, and urged the bochurim to prepare for the holy Yom Tov of Purim, which is coming upon us for good, with uninterrupted hours of learning. He also spoke about the unfitting practice of singing common tunes, especially on the holy Yom Tov of Purim, and concluded with his holy blessing.

In the afternoon, at around 5:45, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his beautiful holy home.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a traveled into Williamsburg for the weekly zmanei knisa.
Upon arrival at around 8:15, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his beautiful holy home on Hooper St., after which the zmanei knisa took place in the Kollel Poilisher until 11:00 at night.

After the zmanei knisa, the Rebbe went to the home of his son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, to the Shalom Zachor celebration of his grandson, the newborn son of Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Halberstam shlit"a, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Avrohom Meir Halberstam shlit"a, rav of our kehilla on 18th Ave. shlit"a, son-in-law of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. A beautiful conversation developed with the family members about the holy R' Berish'l of Garlitz zt"l, whose yahrzeit fell on Wednesday, 2 Rosh Chodesh Adar. The Rebbe drank lechayim and offered blessings to the baal simcha, to the grandfathers, and to the entire gathering. On the way out, at around 11:30, the Rebbe recited Krias Shema and offered blessings to the mother and newborn. He then traveled home to his beautiful holy home in Kiryas Joel.

"A Heichal HaTorah by us in the beis medrash will, IY"H, change Manchester...."

These holy words, which came explicitly from the pen of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, breathed a fresh spirit into the members of the kehilla in Manchester, when only a few days after the uplifting event of the laying of the foundation and signing of the agreements with the donors and builders of the Heichal HaTorah, which took place in the holy home of the Rebbe shlit"a in the city of Sighet, where the Rebbe shlit"a charged the Heichal HaTorah building committee, headed by the distinguished philanthropist R' Chaim Yosef Greenfeld, who immediately threw himself into the task like a loyal general fulfilling his holy will, and performed wonders, when this morning, only 3 days after returning home from Sighet, tractors appeared on the grounds of the beis medrash and immediately began the excavations for the Heichal HaTorah, which is being built with great splendor and glory behind the existing beis medrash building.

May it be rebuilt speedily in our days
