Thursday, Parshas Ki Sisa — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

During the Torah reading the Rebbe went up for Hagbah, and after davening a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the afternoon at around 6:15, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in the tenaim hall at his holy home for the mechutanim R' Yechiel Alter Taub - R' Yaakov Feldman.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:30.

Wednesday, Parshas Ki Sisa — Shushan Purim

At around 10:10 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for Shacharis. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

The bochur Moshe Franks (of Boro Park).
Baal tefillah: R' Kalman Eliezer Herskowitz.

In the afternoon at around 4:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home, and after Mincha set out on the way to Williamsburg.

Upon arrival, the Rebbe went up for a visit to the home of the elderly R' Chaim Hersh Weiss. A lovely conversation developed with stories of the holy Rebbe R' Shalom Eliezer of Ratzfert zy"a and the Tzaddik R' Moshe Aryeh Freund zt"l, Rav of Sighet. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed of his holy blessings.

At around 6:20 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the holy table in honor of the day. Upon arrival, the Rebbe danced in place, washed for the seudah, and during the seudah much joyous singing was added.

With "Asher Heini" the Rebbe honored HaGaon Rabbi Moshe Friedman shlit"a, Av Beis Din of our holy kehilla in Boro Park; "Shoshanas Yaakov" was honored to HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Englander shlit"a, Av Beis Din of our holy kehilla in Lakewood.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words 6 times.
The first Torah thought was on the verse "Let my soul be given to me at my petition," and was explained in the manner of a derush: since one follows the majority, and a positive commandment overrides a prohibition, teshuvah helps.
The second Torah thought was that since the assembly of converts is called an assembly and we accept converts because "they were from us and were cast away," we see that "one who was seen and cast away is seen again," and teshuvah is effective.

Lively songs were sung and the Rebbe rose to dance.

The third Torah thought was on the piyut "Shoshanas Yaakov tzahalah v'sameichah," and was explained that since the miracle took place at night, in the night that is an auspicious time for salvations, the night of guarding, Leil Shimurim of Pesach, Haman had his downfall and the impression remained forever. The Rebbe mentioned the decrees against chinuch and wished that the wicked should have the same end.
The fourth Torah thought was on the piyut "Shoshanas Yaakov tzahalah v'sameichah," and was explained that by combining the Name Hashem, one can transform it from "vei" (woe) to "tov" (good); so too through Torah one can transform the combinations of letters. This was Purim, "they accepted it again out of love."
The fifth Torah thought was on the verse "Seeking good for his people," and was explained that through Torah there are two blessings, material and spiritual, for oneself and for one's children.
The sixth Torah thought was on the verse "Seeking good for his people," and was explained that when one conducts oneself with mercy, one is treated from Heaven with mercy.

Afterwards the Rebbe honored everyone named David to go up to the table to collect money from the assembly for the benefit of the Rebbe's fund "Avnei Chesed."

Meanwhile a bochur from the holy mosad Shaarei Chemla played a musical instrument. The Rebbe thanked him and gave him Purim money.

Afterwards R' Hershel Friedman performed humorous Purim material together with R' Yosef Chaim Rottenstreich, delighting the assembly in honor of the day.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a recited the blessing after the meal over the cup. It concluded at around 9:45.

Afterwards the Rebbe went over to his private room and distributed holy coins to the bochurim askanim of the "Legion of the King" group of our holy yeshivos in Williamsburg and Boro Park, which will be distributed to the hundreds of bochurim of the group.

At around 10:40 the Rebbe davened Maariv. Baal tefillah: R' Aharon Hersh Weber.

After Maariv, the Rebbe paid a shiva call to R' Chaim Avrohom Dovid Refael GottliebAfterwards the Rebbe paid a shiva call to R' Menachem Broda, on the passing of his brother a"h.

Afterwards the Rebbe set out on the way home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.

Days of Light and Joy, Purim – Shushan Purim: 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Night of Purim

On Monday, Taanis Esther, in the afternoon at around 6:15, the Rebbe entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for Mincha. Baal tefillah: HaGaon R' Yechezkel Gelbstein shlit"a; Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Chaim Elimelech Yakov; Kohen: R' Avrohom Simcha Friedman; Levi: R' Yehoshua Wertzberger; Shlishi – Maftir: the Rebbe shlit"a; Hagbah: HaGaon R' Dovid Perl shlit"a; Gelilah: R' Aharon Binder (of the Williamsburg community).

At around 6:55 they began davening Maariv. Baal tefillah: R' Akiva Weinstock.

After Maariv, at around 7:10, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the bimah wrapped in a borrowed tallis, brought by R' Chaim Yedidya Fischer. The Megillah was spread out like a letter, as is customary. The Rebbe recited the Leshem Yichud, recited the brachos with holy fire, and read the Megillah with great arousal and fiery enthusiasm. They finished at 8:15. They recited "Harav es Riveinu," "Asher Heini," "Shoshanas Yaakov," "V'atah Kadosh," and Aleinu, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 11:15 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the holy tish in the Heichal HaShulchanos. The Rebbe danced in place and washed for the seudah in honor of the day. During the seudah, many joyous melodies were sung and they danced with joy and gladness in honor of Purim.

For "Asher Heini" the Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Yitzchak Shalom Friedman shlit"a, a moreh tzedek in our kehilla; "Shoshanas Yaakov": R' Shaul Leib Zaldan.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the verse "V'Vashti kedas b'ones" and explained it in the manner of a derush regarding the themes of Purim: that by doing a mitzvah in public one does receive reward in this world, and therefore "ones" is "gemar u'makni" and there is no protest.

They continued with lively melodies, and the Rebbe expressed with holy emotion that we must offer praise and thanks to Hashem for the kindnesses He has done. Yesterday we fell, and with Hashem's kindness we got away with only a scratch. We must thank and praise that it did not end worse. They then continued with melodies of thanksgiving.

The Purim Rosh Av Beis Din, Rabbi Naftali Moshe Weiss shlit"a, went up on the table to say words of humor, and at the end he recited rhymes about guarding the eyes in honor of the "Legion of the King" group, in which over two and a half thousand talmidim of our holy yeshivos signed a pledge not to touch impure devices, as a mishloach manos for the Rebbe shlit"a. Afterwards the Rebbe distributed holy coins to the gabbaim to distribute to all the bochurim.

Birkas Hamazon: the Purim Rosh Av Beis Din, Rabbi Naftali Moshe Weiss shlit"a. They finished at around 1:15.

Tuesday, Ki Sisa, Purim Day

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for Shacharis at around 10:10. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
the bochur Kalman Wolf Herskovits.
the bochur Yaakov Bri"m Friedman.

Baal tefillah: R' Akiva Weinstock; Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Moshe Yehuda Mendlowitz; Kohen: Rabbi Amram Cohen shlit"a; Levi: R' Yehoshua Wertzberger; Shlishi: the Rebbe shlit"a; Hagbah: Rabbi Mendel Gold shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Lublin; Gelilah: Rabbi Avrohom Dovid Wagschal shlit"a (Monsey).

After the Torah reading, the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room and put on Rabbeinu Tam tefillin, and then went up to the bimah. He recited the Leshem Yichud and fulfilled the custom of machatzis hashekel for himself and for the Rebbetzin tichye. Then, at around 11:10, he recited the Leshem Yichud and the brachos of the Megillah reading and read with enthusiasm and holy fire. They finished at around 12:15.

On the way out of the beis medrash after davening, at around 12:30, the Rebbe shlit"a gave matanos l'evyonim to R' Berel Falkowitz, director of Tomchei Shabbos.
In his holy residence, the Rebbe shlit"a fulfilled the mitzvos of the day, mishloach manos and matanos l'evyonim, and as is customary tasted hamantaschen, kindel, and nant, and washed for the first seudah.

In the afternoon, from 3:00, the Rebbe shlit"a began receiving the public to bless and be blessed on Purim day.

At around 3:15 a bris took place in his holy residence for the newborn son of R' Yoel Nosson Mittelman (of the Williamsburg community), where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe then continued receiving the public, as long lines wound along of members of the community, elders together with youths, and groups of bochurim, and the Rebbe shlit"a greeted and blessed each one with a holy blessing.
Among others, the dayanim of the Belz kehilla of New York entered with mishloach manos on behalf of the Belzer Rebbe shlit"a.
At about 5:30 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence. Baal tefillah: R' Yoel Weinberger.

After Mincha the Rebbe shlit"a walked over to the Beis Medrash HaGadol and at 6:05 entered the Purim wine feast. Upon entering, the Rebbe danced in place and then washed for the seudah of the day. After eating a kezayis, the Rebbe recited the Leshem Yichud to fulfill the mitzvah of drinking on Purim, drank the first cup of wine and said lechayim. After the fish, the Rebbe again recited the Leshem Yichud, drank the second cup and said lechayim.

During the soup the Rebbe shlit"a sang "Kevodo Malei Olam" with outpouring of the soul and with great weeping.

With the soup, kreplach were served as is customary, and after the soup the Rebbe shlit"a drank a third cup and said lechayim, and began to sing "Elokah Dili" with awesome weeping.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered eight divrei kodesh, and between one dvar Torah and the next and throughout the entire tish the singers sang many melodies of joy, deveikus, and arousal.

The first Torah thought was on the verse "Tinaten li nafshi bish'eilasi," and he explained in the manner of a derush that since "the whole earth is full of His glory," a get does not take effect upon Jewish children, and, so to speak, He is obligated with all the obligations of a husband to a wife. He added that one who has no match is "half a body" and falls under the obligation of healing her.
The second Torah thought was on the verse "Tinaten li nafshi bish'eilasi," and he explained that to be able to bring about salvation for Jewish children and a downfall for the enemies of Israel is through public teshuvah, which is just like teshuvah me'ahavah and brings salvations for Jews wherever they are. In a choked voice with tears he mentioned the decrees against chinuch upon Klal Yisroel, and wished that the enemies of Israel should have a downfall like Haman in his time.
The third Torah thought was on the piyut "Shoshanas Yaakov tzahalah v'sameichah," and he explained that had Haman known the kavod Shamayim that would come out of it, he would not have made the decree, and in a humorous vein, in what merit he merited to know it.

The Rebbe honored the Deesh Kiryas Joel Rebbe shlit"a with a cup of wine, and then stood up to dance to "HaShir v'HaShevach."
The fourth Torah thought was on the verse "Eis tzarah hi l'Yaakov u'mimenah yivashei": Haman was a wise man in doing evil, so that Jews should intend their own enjoyment and thus the tears of Esav would not be nullified.
The fifth Torah thought was on the verse "Tinaten li nafshi bish'eilasi," and he explained that Haman's money came through theft, and therefore he had no control.

After the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a stood up to dance, and then fulfilled the annual custom and smoked a cigar, and sang the Dzikover Tanya, and handed the cigar to R' Shlomo Klagsbrun.

The sixth Torah thought was on the connection between the Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and the Yom Tov of Purim, since Rabbi Shimon holds that any amount is subject to lashes, and according to some opinions even "shelo k'darko" is liable, and therefore the Jews were not permitted to benefit from the feast of Achashverosh even shelo k'darko.

A Mount Sinai kugel from R' Bentzion Klein was brought in, along with cabbage, and the Rebbe distributed shirayim to those at the head table.

The seventh Torah thought was on the piyut "Shoshanas Yaakov tzahalah v'sameichah," and he explained that since Mordechai HaTzaddik conducted himself with the attribute of chesed, they merited the miracle.

Then the Rebbe honored all those named Dovid to go up on the table to collect money for the Rebbe's fund "Avnei Chesed."

Then the Rebbe delivered words of blessing to the entire public, and stood up to dance.

For "Asher Heini" the Rebbe honored HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Hunyad shlit"a; "Shoshanas Yaakov": HaGaon R' Meir Eliezer Friedman shlit"a.

Then the Purim Rosh Av Beis Din, Rabbi Naftali Moshe Weiss, sang the melody of the holy Kedushas Levi zy"a, "Ribono Shel Olam, Let Us Make an Exchange."

Birkas Hamazon: the Chadvan, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a.

After a few minutes the Rebbe entered for Maariv. Baal tefillah: Rabbi Hershel Kahn shlit"a. "Baruch Hashem L'olam" was not said. They finished at around 11:45.

Sunday, Parshas Ki Sisa, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Talmud Torah building, Binyan Hirsch-G"B-Landa, on Rutzfert Street (Rutledge), together with the talmidim of grades 6, 7 and 8 of the branch headed by Rabbi Naftali Hirtzka Friedman shlit"a.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the following bar mitzvah bochurim:
The son of Rabbi Naftali Hirtzka Friedman shlit"a, the principal.
The bochur Berish Weiser.
The bochur Yoel Oberlander.
The bochur Eliezer Gold.
The bochur Aharon Yisroel Meir Teichman.
The bochur Yitzchak Feuerstein.
The bochur Yaakov Yochanan Mittelman.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place. Songs were sung, and one of the children recited rhymes. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochurim, the rebbeim and all the children well. He shared words of Torah, saying that Purim was "they accepted it again with love," and that when one learns a piece of Gemara one must understand it and live with the Torah. He concluded with his holy blessing.

After the lechayim, the Rebbe went down to the second floor of the building to the Yeshiva Ketana, the Hashiv Moshe branch, headed by HaGaon Rabbi Shimon Avrohom Roth shlit"a. The Rebbe looked in on the learning and walked among the tables for an extended time with great satisfaction.

Afterwards the Rebbe went down to the first floor, where a lechayim gathering took place with the talmidim of grades 3, 4 and 5 of the branch headed by Rabbi Yechiel Yitzchak Spitzer shlit"a. Songs were sung, and the Rebbe shared words of Torah, saying that in the miracle of Purim the small children were also part of the miracle, and they too should rejoice in the miracle of Purim. He concluded with his holy blessing. The Rebbe then distributed shirayim to the rebbeim to hand out to the children. It ended at around 12:30.

In the afternoon at around 6:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:

After the chuppahs, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a comforted HaGaon Rabbi Efraim Fishel Berkowitz shlit"a, a rav and moreh tzedek, on the passing of his son a"h.

Yechidus hours were from around 8:15 until 10:45 in the evening, in the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Street.

After the yechidus hours, at 10:45, the Rebbe davened Maariv.

Motzei Shabbos B'tzeil HaKodesh

After Havdalah, talmidim of Yeshiva Gedolah Nesivos HaTalmud of Boro Park, who had spent Shabbos B'tzeil HaKodesh, entered the Rebbe's holy home in Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe inquired about their studies and bestowed his holy blessings.

A siyum on the writing of a Sefer Torah, which is being written by R' Shimon Weider, also took place in the Rebbe's holy home. The Rebbe wrote in the letters, drank a lechayim, and bestowed his holy blessings.

At around 11:45, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a went to pay a return visit to the Poltishan Rebbe shlit"a at the lodging of R' Elazar Hartman in the Kiryas Joel area. A pleasant conversation took place; the Poltishan Rebbe honored the Rebbe with a lechayim, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings upon him.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Tetzaveh, Shabbos Zachor — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 6:25 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went to the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Boruch Eckstein shlit"a.

The davening concluded at around 8:00, the crowd went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room.

At around 8:45 the Rebbe shlit"a came to the Shabbos seudah in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidei hamesivta, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer (may he be well), son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Medrash Birkas Moshe shlit"a. Lifting the cup for Kiddush: HaGaon Rabbi Gedalya Moshe Panet shlit"a, son of the Dés-Bnei Brak Rebbe shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with leading the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon R' Nachum Shimon Schwartz shlit"a; Menuchah V'Simchah: R' Shalom Yitzchak Scher.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the Midrash 'V'atah Tetzaveh es Bnei Yisroel' and explained, in the manner of a drush, the sugya of shelo k'derech achilah.

Stories and accounts: this week the Rebbe shlit"a told over about HaGaon HaKadosh Rabbi Shimon Sofer zy"a of Krakow, whose yahrzeit falls on Thursday, 16 Adar.
Ka Ribon Olam: the Rebbe's grandson Meir Eliezer Meisels, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Medrash Yismach Moshe shlit"a.

The new chasanim went around taking fruits, as it was the seventh day: R' Mendel Eckstein. The seudah concluded at around 11:35.

On Shabbos Kodesh

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 9:20. Pesukei D'Zimrah: HaGaon R' Yoel Beria Stein shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a went to the amud for Shacharis, beginning with Yotzer.

Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Shaul Leib Zaldan and HaGaon R' Gedalya Moshe Panet shlit"a. The verses of Shema Yisroel: R' Shmuel Dovid Markovitch (of Williamsburg).

Aliyos. The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the verse in the reading, 'Zachor es asher asah licha Amalek,' explaining that Amalek introduced the idea of indulging in all permitted desires, and thereby caused a coolness in every matter of holiness. Shabbos and bris milah have the power to weaken the force of desire, and through this we uproot Amalek, the evil force and the heart of every Jew. We are preparing for the great Yom Tov of Purim; may Hashem help that we be able to warm our hearts toward Hashem and receive all holy influences, "for the day is holy to our Master."

A time of joy and gladness reigns among Satmar chassidim around the world in general, and among the members of Kehilla Yitav Lev D'Satmar Yerushalayim in particular, over the joyous news that, with the approval and blessing of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, the administration of the kehilla and mosdos in Yerushalayim, with great siyata d'Shmaya, signed a contract today, Erev Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Ki Sisa ("When you take the sum of the children of Israel"), with the administration of Yeshivas Chevron to rent their large building on Rechov Chagai, adjacent to the property of the kehilla's buildings and mosdos, which sadly went up in flames. It will serve, b'ezras Hashem, over the coming few years as a center for a beis medrash, a talmud torah, and all the needs of the kehilla and mosdos, until the great building for Hashem and His Torah on the kehilla's property is, b'ezras Hashem, completed for His name and glory.

This great project came about thanks to the financial support of two esteemed philanthropists, among the leaders of our holy kehilla,
the distinguished and renowned R' Avrohom Brach and together with him the distinguished and renowned R' Avrohom Yehoshua Glantz, who stand at the head of the great building fund project of our holy kehilla in the holy city.

The kehilla administration asks our chassidim all over the world to continue davening for siyata d'Shmaya, that we may be able to bring from potential to reality all the tremendous plans that still need to be carried out in the coming period, b'ezras Hashem.
