Therefore We Are Obligated to Give Thanks

The heads and administration of our holy kehilla in Eretz Yisroel — Yerushalayim, Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh — pour out the feelings of their hearts in gratitude, on behalf of the chassidim of our community living in Eretz Yisroel, for the magnificent distribution that was dispersed by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a in honor of the coming Yom Tov of Pesach, for the flock of his pasture, all the chassidim of our community living in Eretz Yisroel.

As in the past several years, this year too the Rebbe shlit"a personally took upon himself the great burden of raising large sums of money from generous donors, to send to Eretz Yisroel in honor of Yom Tov a large and respectable support for every family, in order to ease the Yom Tov for the close to eight hundred families of our chassidim living in Eretz Yisroel, may it be rebuilt.

The enormous support was sent over this past week in the astronomical sum of three-quarters of a million dollars, and was distributed on Sunday by the administration of the kehilla and the mosdos in each city separately, to the joy of the hearts of our chassidim, may they live.

Monday, Parshas Shemini, first day, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the great beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yoel Efraim Weinstock.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up as Shlishi, and after davening a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

In the afternoon at around 7:00 the Rebbe summoned to his room to hear a report on the distribution of Kimcha D'Pischa in our holy kehilla in Yerushalayim, Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh, which was distributed through holy emissaries. Then the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence.

Entry times to the Rebbe's holy chamber were from around 8:00 until 11:45 at night, at his holy residence on Ohel Court.

After the entry times, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy residence.

Motzei Shabbos, Parshas Tzav, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Immediately after Havdalah, the Rebbe was occupied for an extended time with arranging the tzedakos and Kimcha D'Pischa, in sums approaching a million dollars, which the Rebbe raises and distributes to members of our kehilla in Eretz Yisroel and to many other needy people in our holy kehilla.

At around 11:50 the Rebbe shlit"a arrived at our great beis medrash in Williamsburg, the Hillman building, for the 'Mezuzah-Affixing Ceremony and Lechayim Gathering' for the magnificently renovated 'Riesfeler Floor' with its four prayer rooms. HaGaon Rabbi Landsberg shlit"a, Av Beis Din, of the members of our beis medrash, spoke, followed by the Av Beis Din shlit"a. The Rebbe drank l'chaim and warmly wished the esteemed donors of the prayer rooms and the entire public well. He then delivered words of holy Torah, emphasizing the importance of the donors, and wished that "a fire shall burn continually on the altar, it shall not be extinguished," that there should always be people learning and davening in the beis medrash, and that Torah, avodah and gemilus chasadim should come forth from it. He concluded with his holy blessings.
On the way out, the Rebbe affixed a mezuzah at the main entrance and warmly wished the donor of the floor, the distinguished philanthropist R' Yeruchom Fishel Chaim Riesfeler, well. It concluded at around 12:15.

From there the Rebbe shlit"a went to our magnificent beis medrash, Beis Menachem Tzvi, on Wallabout, for the 'Mezuzah-Affixing Ceremony' at the newly completed Heichal HaTorah 'Heichal Shmuel' and the library 'Otzar Yeshaya.' The Rebbe looked around the heichal with great satisfaction and then affixed a mezuzah.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a walked over to the home of the donor, R' Zalman Leib Oberlander, for a lechayim gathering. A pleasant conversation ensued about the many halls of Torah in our batei medrash around the world, and R' Zalman Leib gave the Rebbe a sefer Yad Avi Shalom by his grandfather, which he had reprinted. Then R' Avrohom Brach showed the Rebbe several historical manuscripts. The Rebbe drank l'chaim and bestowed his holy blessings on the esteemed donor and on the entire public, especially the members of the beis medrash's board. On the way out, the Rebbe wished the mother, the wife of R' Shmuel Oberlander z"l, well. It concluded at around 1:00 and the Rebbe traveled home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.

Sunday, Parshas Shemini, first day

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the great beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the following bar mitzvah bochurim.

The bochur Meir Margaliot.
The bochur Menachem Yuda Schlesinger.
The bochur Wolf Landau.

After davening a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the heichal of the beis medrash.

In the afternoon, at around 7:40, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence.

Entry times to the Rebbe's holy chamber were from around 8:00 until 11:30 at night, at his holy residence on Ohel Court.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 10:45 and then continued receiving the public.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Tzav, Shabbos HaGadol — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, in the midst of our holy kehilla in Williamsburg

Friday night at around 7:50 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered our great beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov Yokel Teitelbaum shlit"a, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav Dbeis HaMedrash, the Beirach Moshe shlit"a.

The davening ended at around 9:20. The congregation passed by to greet the Rebbe with Gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

A short time after the davening, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shulchan (the Friday night table) in Heichal Tehillas Yehosef, together with the talmidim of Yeshiva L'Tze'irim of Williamsburg, and began, as is his custom, Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yisroel Dushinsky, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav Dbeis HaMedrash of Ohel Piga shlit"a. Raising the cup for Kiddush: HaGaon Rabbi Hershel Horowitz shlit"a, director of Yeshiva L'Tze'irim.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash "The students of R' Yose bar Kisma asked him: When will the son of David come? He answered: 'This is the law of the olah'," and explained it in the manner of drush in the sugya of "shelo k'derech achila" (a prohibited act of eating done in an unusual manner).

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 9:40. Pesukei D'Zimra: R' Yitzchak Yuda Forgess. The Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud for Shacharis, beginning with Yotzer, and they sang Mechalkel Chaim and Mimkomcha.

When the Chacham Sits and Expounds

In the afternoon at around 5:50 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for the Shabbos HaGadol derasha. The great beis medrash was filled to capacity, with every seat and standing place taken by thousands of chassidim who came to hear the word of Hashem, with pilpul, drush and aggadah, in great preparation for the approaching Yom Tov of Pesach.
A group of chassidim also arrived from Boro Park, having traveled to the derasha.

The Rebbe wrapped himself in his tallis and recited a berachah, then went up to the Aron Kodesh and davened a silent prayer, and began the derasha on the Midrash "When will the son of David come," first with a lengthy pilpul and beautiful explanations in drush and aggadah, in the sugya of shelo k'derech achila, after having been engaged in this sugya in recent weeks both with the talmidim of the yeshiva of Sighet and with the talmidim of the Mesivta.
The Rebbe said wonderful thoughts and holy teachings on preparing for Yom Tov so as to be able to feel a taste in the matzah, and continued with mussar, on matters needing chizuk and arousal: setting times for Torah study, using the train ride to join the group of Yesodei HaTorah and begin learning Maseches Nazir after Yom Tov; eradicating chametz, including the impure vessels, from the homes and the workplaces, so that whoever needs to should use a tablet more; modesty in the women's section, especially the immodest sheitels; not holding back from inspiring the children and grandchildren and getting involved in the chinuch of the children.

In addition, the Rebbe spoke about pressing current matters: the lawlessness that takes place with sending bochurim to learn in Eretz Yisroel. The best advice is to take care of it already at age 14 and to send them to our own yeshivos, which provide a framework for the older bochurim as well. He pointed out that, Baruch Hashem, from our yeshivos there are not even 10 bochurim learning in Eretz Yisroel.
The Rebbe also mentioned a scandal that occurred this year, where certain people harvested the wheat hard after a rain, and he brought out the hiddur of harvesting wheat in Arizona, where the Divrei Yoel zy"a also sent people to harvest.
He stressed being careful about the kashrus of meat, to buy specifically from our butchers, which is the best of all meat: "Whoever wants to eat kosher meat should buy our meat." He also mentioned the latest ruling regarding the chinuch decrees, that it has, Baruch Hashem, improved, but it is not known by how much, and we still need Heavenly mercy that it be nullified entirely. He concluded with his holy blessings. It ended at around 7:20 and the Rebbe went into his private room.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "This is the law of the olah," and explained that in order for the Jews to receive a divine decree that they be released from their bondage in Egypt, it is by performing mitzvos with fervor and fiery enthusiasm, so that it is absorbed into the limbs and becomes one piece of holiness. He continued with powerful words of preparation for Yom Tov Pesach, that we must prepare for the holy night, "so that you may tell in the ears of your son and your son's son." May Hashem help that we merit this year as well to eat there "of the sacrifices and of the Pesach offerings."

Thursday, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for Shlishi, and after davening he walked home to his holy residence.

In the afternoon hours, R' Lipa Klein shlit"a, chairman of the Hechsher Committee of the Association of Rabbis (Hitachdus HaRabbonim), together with R' Hershel Hartstein shlit"a, one of the heads of the Hechsher Committee, entered the Rebbe's holy residence for a private audience, on behalf of the Rabbonim, the Geonim, members of the Hitachdus HaRabbonim. They presented the Rebbe with the kashrus guide that is issued annually before Yom Tov. A pleasant conversation took place about the recent expansion and the many beneficial activities in various areas, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings.

In the afternoon at around 6:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence.

The times for entering the Rebbe's holy chamber were from around 8:00 until 11:15 at night, in his holy residence at the Ohel Kat.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 9:15, and after Maariv the Kiddush Levana was recited in front of the Rebbe's holy residence.

After Maariv, an appointment ceremony took place in the Rebbe's holy residence, at which the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a appointed HaGaon R' Alexander Yekusiel Landau shlit"a, a maggid shiur, to serve as Av Beis Din and Rav of the new beis medrash "Noam Elimelech," the 24th beis medrash of Kehal Yetev Lev in Kiryas Joel, which will open, b'ezras Hashem, right after Yom Tov of Pesach, IY"H. The heads of the kehilla also participated in the gathering, and a pleasant conversation ensued about the expansion of the boundaries of holiness in Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly bestowed his holy blessings upon the Rav of the beis medrash shlit"a and upon the heads of the kehilla.

Afterwards, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a continued receiving the public.

Wednesday, Parshas Tzav — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the great beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the following bar mitzvah bochurim:

The Rebbe shlit"a lit 5 candles and said Kaddish on the occasion of the yahrzeit of his grandmother, sister of the Kedushas Yom Tov zy"a.

After davening, a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the afternoon at around 6:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home. The Rebbe lit candles and said Kaddish on the occasion of the yahrzeit of the Rebbetzin a"h.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim R' Chananya Yom Tov Nosson Brauner (Williamsburg) and R' Dovid Stahl, at the Beis Rachel Paradise hall.

Entry times to the Rebbe's holy chamber were from around 8:15 until 11:45 at night, in his holy home on Ohel Street.
