Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Shemini, Mevarchim Chodesh Iyar — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 8:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha, Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Yechiel Rubin.

After davening, the appeal for the yeshiva ketana Be'er Mordechai in the holy city of Beit Shemesh took place. It concluded at around 9:40, the crowd went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 12:00 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos seudah in the Heichal HaShulchanos, and began, as is his holy custom, Shalom Aleichem with emotion and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yisroel Dushinsky, son of HaGaon Rabbi, the Rav of Beis Medrash Ohel Feiga shlit"a. Lifting of the cup: HaGaon Rabbi Kalman Halberstam shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Zanz Kiryas Joel.

At the soup, the matzos were distributed as customary from Pesach until Shavuos.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse "And a fire came forth from before Hashem," and explained, in the manner of a derush, the topic of "an positive commandment overrides a negative commandment."

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at around 8:00. Mincha: R' Nata Meir Davidowitz (Yerushalayim). Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Yaakov Yuda Weiss (Williamsburg). Kohen: R' Yechiel Yitzchak Kahana. Levi: R' Baruch Lipa Levi. Shlishi: Rabbi Shmuel Shlomo Teller shlit"a. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a; Gelilah: R' Pinchas Shapiro.

At Shalosh Seudos, the Rebbe honored the following with the zemiros: Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse "This is the thing which Hashem has commanded, that you shall do," and explained that the main thing is to be careful regarding the matter of falsehood, on which the entire power of the yetzer hara depends, and the remedy for it is to be engaged in Torah.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Moshe Falkowitz; Kel Mistaser: R' Lipa Friedman (Williamsburg); the Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup.

For Maariv on Motzei Shabbos, the Rebbe approached the amud in honor of the yahrzeit; after Havdalah, the crowd went over to wish a gutte voch. It concluded at around 10:15.

The Last Night of Pesach, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At 8:15 in the evening the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Mincha. Mincha: R' Elisha Horowitz. Maariv: HaGaon R' Yosef Shlomo Feuerstein shlit"a. The Rebbe went up to the amud to count the Omer. After davening, everyone went over to wish each other a good Yom Tov. Davening concluded at around 9:15.

At around 12:10 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash on the north side for the seudah. Lifting the cup for Kiddush: HaGaon R' Yosef Shmuel Berkowitz shlit"a, moreh tzedek. The Rebbe uncovered the matzos and also dipped the matzah into the gravy after the fish. They brought in matzah farfel, matzah kugel, and matzah cremslach, prepared in the homes of prominent members of the kehilla. By the matzah cremslach, the entire tzibur went over to take shirayim for an extended period.

For the zemiros, the Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon R' Shlomo Junger, dayan of Tash, Kiryas Joel.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash "The sea saw and fled — what did it see? The Baraisa of Rabbi Yishmael," and explained, in the manner of drush, the sugya of an asei that overrides a lo sa'aseh, and an asei.

The Last Day of Pesach

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 10:20. Pesukei D'zimra: R' Yoel Weiss shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a went up to the amud for Shacharis and Hallel.

After davening, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Shlomo Wertzberger, where the Rebbe was sandek. Davening concluded at around 2:20.

At the afternoon seudah at his holy home, cremslach were brought in. The Rebbe honored his grandson HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, rav of Beis Medrash Rav Tov, with the zemiros, and the Rebbe recited the bentching over the cup.

In the afternoon at around 7:50 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash for Mincha and Ne'ilas HaChag. Mincha: R' Yoel Hirsch.

After Mincha the Rebbe shlit"a sat down at the tish and several Yom Tov niggunim were sung. R' Yosef Weiss, one of the prominent members of the Chevra Kadisha, poured lechayim, and the Rebbe wished the Chevra Kadisha well, as is customary.

Fruit was served, after which "Ani Ma'amin" was sung with great arousal and with tears, and it was continued with deveikus, along with "Tibaneh Meheira" and "Achakeh Lo."

After the time, the Rebbe shlit"a recited "Baruch HaMavdil" and delivered a dvar Torah over a microphone. The Rebbe built on the pasuk "Then Moshe sang" and explained that with the mitzvah of milah, even when the orlah is removed, it creates a deveikus. The same applies to breaking the matzah: even when one breaks one piece into two, two become one. Since Hakadosh Baruch Hu, the Torah and Yisroel are one, it naturally helps teshuvah. During this Yom Tov we merited to say Hallel 13 times, and with this to arouse the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy and good blessings for Jewish children in all matters.

The Rebbe shlit"a stood up and danced "Chasal Siddur Pesach" with emotion and enthusiasm for an extended time, together with the entire holy congregation. At the end, the Rebbe said "Next year in Yerushalayim" three times, as is customary.

Maariv for Motzei Yom Tov: R' Hersh Leib Fogel. After Havdalah, the Rebbe wished the entire tzibur a good week and a healthy summer. Davening concluded at 10:00, and the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with the niggun "Ashrei HaAm."

Immediately upon arriving home at his holy residence, the Rebbe shlit"a bought back the chametz from the non-Jew.

The Pesach Seder is concluded according to its halacha, with all its laws and statutes. Just as we merited to arrange it, so may we merit to perform it.

The Seventh Day of Pesach, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 10:45 and approached the amud for Pesukei D'zimra, Shacharis and Hallel. Hallel was recited in full, and the shirah verse by verse, as customary.
The Rebbe also recited the Haftarah beforehand.

Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Yehoshua Wertzberger and R' Avrohom Shalom Landau. The verses of Shema Yisroel: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Simcha Shalom Steinberger shlit"a, Rav of Beis Medrash Divrei Chaim.

The Rebbe shlit"a was the baal koreh, and read the shirah with inspiration and fiery enthusiasm.

In the afternoon before Mincha, the Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of mussar and guidance in his holy home to the chasanim from Eretz Yisroel who had stayed for Yom Tov "B'tzeil HaKodesh."

The Final Days of Pesach, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Yom Tov afternoon, in his holy home, the Rebbe shlit"a lit the yizkor candles in memory of his parents, the Rebbe zy"a and the Rebbetzin a"h.

In the evening at around 8:15, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Great Beis Medrash and approached the amud for Mincha, and began Hodu as customary. Maariv: HaGaon R' Dovid Eckstein shlit"a. "Emes V'emunah Kol Zos" was sung as customary, and the Rebbe approached the amud to count the Omer. After davening, everyone went over to wish each other a good Yom Tov. Davening ended at 9:15.

At around 12:20, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Yom Tov seudah in the Great Beis Medrash. Raising the cup for Kiddush: HaRav HaTzaddik R' Berel Glantz shlit"a of Bardiov, Kiryas Joel.

During the tish, the singing and zemiros in honor of Yom Tov were prolonged. The Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Yosef Hersh Soifer shlit"a, a moreh tzedek, with the zemiros.
After the zemiros, the Rebbe shlit"a instructed that the singing continue in honor of the day.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Az Yashir Moshe U'vnei Yisroel," and explained that when the Jews entered the sea, they became holy — "for you are a holy nation to Hashem your G-d" — and the bondage to the Egyptians was annulled. Now, on the seventh day of Pesach, this repeats itself: all forms of bondage of the Jewish children are annulled, both physical and spiritual, freedom from the yetzer hara, and a holy abundance descends from heaven together with all good things.

After the Torah, at around 1:30, "B'vik'acha Yam Suf" was sung, and the Rebbe shlit"a stood up and danced the shirah with deveikus and fiery enthusiasm, together with him the enormous crowd of thousands, for an extended time.
