Wednesday, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Early in the morning, before Shacharis, the brissen took place.
For the newborn son of R' Shraga Feish Herzog, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.
For the newborn son of R' Aharon Berish Weinstock, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Yoel Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yitzchak Farkash.
After davening, the Rebbe went into his private room to put on Rabbeinu Tam tefillin.

At about 12:45, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for the recital of the Yom Kippur Katan tefillos.
The baal tefillah was HaGaon R' Meir Zwibel shlit"a, a rebbe in the yeshiva. The Rebbe prolonged the piyutim, weeping, especially at the Vidui of Rabbeinu Nissim. They concluded at about 1:30.
Afterwards, a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

In the afternoon at about 6:45, the Rebbe shlit"a arrived in Monsey, where the Rebbe participated in the levaya and accompanied the bier of the Rachmistrivka Rebbe zt"l.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a went to visit the ongoing construction of the new Talmud Torah building, the 'Goldstein Building,' beneath the Beis Medrash HaGadol. The Rebbe walked through all the floors of the building, accompanied by the director of the mosdos, R' Shmuel Zanvil Wertheimer, and the building's contractor, R' Yitzchak Gruber. R' Shmuel Zanvil gave a report on the plans to inaugurate the magnificent building already by Isru Chag of Sukkos.

R' Shmuel Zanvil also informed the Rebbe shlit"a that IY"H tomorrow, Thursday, Rosh Chodesh Elul, the foundations will IY"H be poured for the new Beis Rochel building, the 'Neustadt Building,' the second of the three Beis Rochel buildings on the mosdos grounds on Cherry Lane, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings.

At about 7:45, the Rebbe left Monsey on the way home to Kiryas Joel.

At about 8:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

At about 9:20, the Rebbe shlit"a went to the annual dinner for the holy institution Rav Tov, which this year took place at the home of R' Avrohom Yuda Rosenberg. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings.

The time for entering for private audiences was from about 9:40 until 12:40 at night, in his holy home on Ohel Court.

Tuesday, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for a newborn son of R' Yaakov Shalom Moskowitz, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Etz Chaim branch, Shiur Gimmel. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yosef Gutherer.
After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim portion, on chapter 18, verse 1, after which a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Heichal of the beis medrash.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the building of the new mikvah tahara in Kiryas Joel, where a ceremony of pouring the foundation pits took place for several new pits. The Rebbe poured the pits and honored the donors of the pits, HaRav R' Yoel Bernath and HaRav R' Yechezkel Goldstein, to pour their pits. Afterwards a lechayim gathering took place, and a pleasant conversation developed with the rabbanim of the Vaad for Mikvah Matters. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly blessed the donors.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Vayoel Moshe branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room.

At around 5:45, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the home of HaRav R' Berish Schonbrun, where the completion of the writing of the letters took place for the Sefer Torah being donated by Chevra Hatzolah Kiryas Joel to the Anshei Chesed beis medrash in the Chevra Hatzolah building.
The Rebbe wrote in the final letters, after which a lechayim gathering took place. HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Yitzchak Stern shlit"a, the dayan of Chevra Hatzolah, spoke. Songs of inspiration were sung, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly bestowed blessings from his holy lips upon HaRav R' Berish Schonbrun and all the members of Hatzolah.
HaRav R' Shimon Liebermann was honored with hagbaha, HaRav R' Kapil Schonbrun with gelila, and HaRav R' Chaim Elazar Horowitz with putting on the mantle. The Rebbe took the Sefer Torah and broke into a fiery dance for an extended time, and afterwards led the Sefer Torah out into the street with drums and dancing.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the new magnificent premises of the 'Igud HaSofrim' under the auspices of the Beis Horaah of Kiryas Joel, on Lizhensk Street. The Rebbe entered the store and looked over the display of mezuzos from dozens of sofrim of Kiryas Joel. Afterwards the Rebbe affixed the mezuzah on the main entrance and honored HaRav R' Avrohom Yushe Glantz, who heads the project, with hammering in the mezuzah.
Afterwards a lechayim gathering took place. The Rebbe drank a lechayim, warmly blessed HaRav R' Avrohom Yushe and the entire public, and delivered a few words of Torah and blessing.
Then HaRav R' Avrohom Yushe spoke, presenting the purpose of the project and the plans of the Igud HaSofrim. It concluded at around 6:45.

At around 7:00, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home, and then traveled to Williamsburg for the weekly reception hours.

The reception hours in the inner sanctum were from around 8:30 until 12:50 at night, in his holy home on Hughes St.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:15 in his holy home, and then continued receiving the public.

Monday, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Zalman Leib Schonfeld.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe went up for hagbah, and after davening he led the daily Tehillim shiur on chapter 18, verse 7. Afterward, a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

In the afternoon at around 8:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

Entry times to the Rebbe's room were from around 8:30 until 12:45 at night, in his holy home on Ohel Court.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in the tenaim hall of his holy home, for the mechutanim R' Daniel Shimon Altman (of Williamsburg) and R' Yoel Moshe Malach.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:45.

Sunday, Parshas Shoftim, 26 Menachem Av, the Yom HaHilula of the Divrei Yoel zy"a — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, who continues in his holy path

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the yeshiva building at his kever, in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch, together with a large crowd of chassidim and talmidim of the Mesivta. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochurim.
The son of HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Rubin shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Ciechanów, Kiryas Joel, and son-in-law of the Gaon, Av Beis Din of Montreal shlit"a.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a lit 5 candles and went down before the amud with an outpouring of the soul.

After davening, at around 12:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the lechayim gathering before going up to the holy Ziyun, amid a great crowd, in royal splendor. Songs of inspiration were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochurim and the entire gathering well.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words, a preparation and arousal before visiting the holy Ziyun, on the verse "Tzedek, tzedek tirdof": a tzaddik can bestow greater influences in the next world than during his lifetime. He quoted from the Divrei Yoel zy"a that his name Yoel ben Chanani, Yud-Vav-Tes, is an acronym of "Yaalzu chassidim b'chavod, yeranenu" ("Let the chassidim exult in glory, let them sing"). In a voice choked with tears, he asked that as he goes to pray at the Ziyun, healing, salvations and joy be bestowed upon Jewish homes. He expressed the strong bond and the special affection and closeness toward the bochurim and the yeshiva, and urged the bochurim to conduct themselves as true students of his yeshiva. He concluded with abundant blessings for the entire gathering.

After the lechayim gathering, at around 12:50, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the distinguished Ziyun. The Rebbe lit 5 candles together with a neshama candle, and recited the prayer "Shalom Aleichem" of the Yismach Moshe zy"a with awesome weeping. He then recited, as is customary, chapters 90 through 107 of Tehillim, and recited the Yehi Ratzon with an outpouring of the soul. Afterwards the Rebbe learned chapters of Mishnayos and said Kaddish D'Rabbanan.
The Rebbe shlit"a read kvitlach for an extended time, while songs of inspiration that used to be sung in the beis medrash of the Divrei Yoel were sung. Afterwards the Rebbe prostrated himself on the holy Ziyun for an extended time. They concluded at around 1:45.

In the afternoon at around 8:10 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his home, Naveh Kodesh. Before davening, the Rebbe lit 5 candles and went down before the amud.

In the evening at around 8:30, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the central Hilula seudah in the beis medrash of the Divrei Yoel, in the Great Beis Medrash in Kiryas Joel, in the presence of thousands upon thousands of Jews. The Rebbe washed for the seudah and extended his pure table, and then made the siyum on all of Shas and the six orders of Mishnah, which had been learned by the Shas Chevra of our holy kehilla. He then recited the Hadran and Kaddish. At the lechayim after the fish, the Rebbe wished, "May his merit protect us and all Israel."
During the tish, songs of deveikus and longing that were sung in the beis medrash of the Divrei Yoel were sung. With "Michtam L'Dovid," the Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Yosef Wertzberger shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Hunyad, Kiryas Joel.

At around 9:55 the Rebbe shlit"a began his holy words, words of chizuk and mussar, and about the obligations of the hour regarding the matters at hand. The Rebbe took as his topic the verse "Shoftim v'shotrim titen lecha," and explained it according to the teachings of the Divrei Yoel. He spoke about his greatness and righteousness and the many accomplishments of the Divrei Yoel in general and in particular in all the pillars of the world: Torah, prayer, and kindness. He awakened Jews to teshuva through his words of rebuke on Shabbos Shuvah and his fiery speeches, established educational institutions for young and old, and worked for kashrus and matters of holiness and modesty. There is an obligation to continue in all these matters, to wage his fiery war for Hashem against the impurity of Zionism in all its guises, and to continue strengthening the institutions of the Eidah HaChareidis. He praised the avreichim of the kollelim in Kiryas Joel, who this year raised together one million dollars for the institutions of the Eidah HaChareidis in Eretz Yisroel through the "Keren Avrohom Yosef," aside from all the other avreichim and chassidim in every place, which also amounts to a huge sum.
In this context, the Rebbe described the full efforts of the Divrei Yoel zy"a to support the Beis Din Tzedek of the Eidah HaChareidis and Yerushalayim, the holy city, and recalled the difficult struggle of his father, the Beirach Moshe zy"a, when he saw the Eidah HaChareidis in danger. With pain he stated that there are people within the Eidah HaChareidis who are breaking and destroying it through various actions with which the spirit of the sages is not pleased. There is a fear of terror that silences others. We, from afar, pray that the bad be turned to good. The same applies to the decree of drafting yeshiva bochurim in Eretz Yisroel, which continues with full force, and no one knows what the day will bring.

A holy atmosphere was felt in the holy place, the beis medrash of the Rebbe zy"a, when the Rebbe announced that the town "Kiryas Joel," which the Divrei Yoel zy"a established in his name and memory, has, Baruch Hashem, grown in all directions. It is already approaching eight thousand families, over forty-four thousand souls, ke"h, may they live and be well! As was already said in the past, "Kiryas Joel" is not limited to one village. Holiness has no boundary, and everything around is part of Kiryas Joel. Calling by the holy name "Kiryas Joel" creates a supernal bond between the residents and the Divrei Yoel, after whom it is named and who bestows holiness upon the town. Anyone who moves to one of the areas in Kiryas Joel does so with the understanding that he must accept the stringencies of the place to which he goes.
Then the Rebbe proclaimed with a holy fire, and named all the areas and neighborhoods with holy names, like the existing neighborhoods in Kiryas Joel, in order to draw down the holiness of the place and a continuation of the holiness of Kiryas Joel.

"And he called them by the names that his father had called them"

The Lake Shore area: "Shechunas Shaagas Aryeh."
Woodbury Villas: "Shechunas Chasam Sofer."

"The name causes!" The Rebbe explained that by calling them with these holy names, spiritual and material blessings will be bestowed upon all the residents, the "residents of Kiryas Joel," as the Divrei Yoel wanted, without any change.

The Rebbe continued with the legacy that the Divrei Yoel zy"a left, the educational institutions all over the world, and Baruch Hashem they are growing in quantity and quality. He spoke out on matters of modesty and head covering: a sheitel that looks like real hair is forbidden according to all opinions. He spoke about the affordable apartments project and said, "I will stand on my post." Full efforts are being made so that soon it can be brought from potential to reality, both for this project and for other places, b'siyata d'Shmaya.
The decrees against chinuch in New York are getting worse and worse. May Hashem guard and protect that they should have no control over our chinuch. He praised our yeshivas, which provide a bochur with a place to be until he marries, and spoke out against sending bochurim to learn in outside yeshivas, from which they later go to Eretz Yisroel, which brings terrible lawlessness in any manner whatsoever. The Rebbe concluded that we stand on the day of the yahrzeit, and hope that the Divrei Yoel zy"a stands and prays for us that we be helped in all the best things until the coming of the Redeemer, bimheira b'yameinu.

After the holy words, the Rebbe shlit"a recited Birkas HaMazon over the cup. They concluded at around 11:00.

After the Hilula seudah, the Gaon, Av Beis Din of London shlit"a, entered the Rebbe's private room, where he gave the Rebbe a list of talmidim of our holy yeshiva in London who do not miss any early mornings in the "Ashkim V'Eshneh" group in camp.

After a few minutes the Rebbe entered for Maariv in the Great Beis Medrash. Baal tefilla: HaGaon, Av Beis Din of Beis Aharon shlit"a.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Re'eh, Shabbos Mevarchim Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 8:35 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went to the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Chaim Shlomo Kraus.

The davening ended at around 10:05, the congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 10:40 the Rebbe shlit"a came in to the Shabbos table in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta and a distinguished group of men, supporters of our holy mosdos in Bnei Brak, and began, in his holy way, Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer, may he be well, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Moshe shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash Beirach Moshe. Raising of the cup: HaGaon Rabbi Efraim Zalman Sternbuch shlit"a, son of the Posek HaDor, Mara d'Asra of Eretz Yisroel shlit"a.

For the zemiros, the Rebbe shlit"a honored his grandsons, sons-in-law of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a. Menucha V'Simcha: Rabbi Avrohom Rokeach shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom brachah" ("See, I place before you today a blessing") and explained in a derush that by conducting oneself with humility, a person finds comfort in the world for which he was created.

After davening a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Yosef Binyomin Weiss (Williamsburg), at which the Rebbe was sandek. It ended at around 12:55.

In the afternoon at around 7:10 the Rebbe came into the beis medrash for Pirkei Avos. The Rebbe stood on Perek 5, Mishnah 18: "Kol hamezakeh es harabim ein cheit ba al yado; Moshe zachah v'zikah es harabim, zechus harabim talui bo" ("Whoever causes the masses to merit, no sin comes through him; Moshe merited and brought merit to the masses, the merit of the masses is attributed to him"), and explained it in 13 ways in the manner of derush, aggadah and mussar. At the end he exhorted everyone to cling to the attributes of truth and distance themselves from the attributes of falsehood. The days of Elul are coming, which must be used for teshuvah and rectifying one's deeds. He repeated from the holy R' Pinchas'l of Koritz zy"a that a liar cannot do teshuvah, and concluded with abundant blessings. It ended at around 8:00 and the Rebbe went into his private room.
Ra'avah D'Ra'avin

The Rebbe came in for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at around 8:25. Mincha: R' Yerachmiel Wolf Fried. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Asaf Wohlberg (Boro Park). Kohen: R' Zusha HaKohen Rubin (Williamsburg). Levi: R' Shalom Yosef Levinger. Shlishi: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Chaim Hersh Teitelbaum shlit"a of Rotzfert. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Binyomin Friedman (Bnei Brak).

The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom brachah" and explained that throughout the year, to merit hearing the voice of Hashem and be aroused to teshuvah, one must be especially worthy, but in the month of Elul, through the sound of the shofar, everyone is able to hear the voice of Hashem. He concluded with words of arousal for Chodesh Elul, that one should use the hours of this month for teshuvah and rectifying one's deeds.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Naftali Lebowitz (Williamsburg). Kel Mistater: R' Yosef Pinchas Strulowitz. The Rebbe made the blessing over the cup and recited the Sheva Brachos.

The Rebbe shlit"a went to the amud for Maariv of Motzei Shabbos and recited Kaddish in honor of the holy hilula.

After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a gutte voch. It ended at around 10:45.
