Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 8:25 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos. The chazan was HaGaon R' Yaakov Weiss shlit"a (Monsey), son of the Av Beis Din of London shlit"a.

After davening, an appeal was held for the Mosad Rav Tov, with HaGaon R' Leibush Weinfeld shlit"a speaking. They finished at around 9:55.

The congregation passed by to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 10:30 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos meal in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta, and began, as is his holy custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness. Eishes Chayil was recited by the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer, may he be well, son of HaGaon Rav of the beis medrash, Barach Moshe shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: R' Yehoshua Heschel Scharf shlit"a; Menucha V'Simcha: HaRav R' Nosson Friedman (Elad).

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Ki yipalei mimcha davar b'mishpat" and explained, in the manner of a derush, the sugya of "mitoch."

Stories and anecdotes: This week the Rebbe shlit"a related about his grandfather, our master and teacher, the holy Gaon, the Yetev Lev zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Wednesday, 6 Elul.

On the holy day of Shabbos

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 9:40. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Hershel Goldberger shlit"a. The Rebbe recited "V'chros" verse by verse and approached the amud for Shacharis.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud for Mussaf in honor of the yahrzeit this week of his grandfather, the holy Gaon, the Yetev Lev zy"a. Pesicha for Ano'im Zemiros: R' Aharon Brief shlit"a.

After davening a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Mendel, son of R' Moshe Wertheimer, at which the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

A few minutes later the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Polish Heichal for the Kiddush Rabbah simcha in our holy courts. The Rebbe made Kiddush, joyous niggunim were sung, and the baal simcha, Rabbi Meir Yuda shlit"a, spoke. The Rebbe wished lechayim to the baal simcha and to the entire congregation and delivered divrei Torah on the verse "Samachti b'omrim li beis Hashem neilech," explaining that when a Jewish daughter is born there is an extra joy, because they possess an extra measure of understanding, which caused them not to stumble in the sin of the Golden Calf. He concluded with abundant blessings. They finished at around 1:10.
Seudah Shlishis

The Rebbe entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at 8:20. Mincha: R' Yaakov Yosef Pilof; Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Yoel, son of R' Moshe Freund (Boro Park); Kohen: R' Yehoshua Hersh Glick (Williamsburg); Levi: R' Shmuel Eliezer Roth (Boro Park); Shlishi: R' Mordechai Landau; Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a; Gelilah: R' Mendel Oppenheim.

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored people with the zemiros. Odeh: R' Noach Gafen; Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Tzedek tzedek tirdof" and explained that even if one, Heaven forbid, loses the tzelem Elokim through sins, through tzedakah one can regain it, and together with tefillah the teshuva is accepted with mercy and favor before the Master of all. He continued with longer words of inspiration for the month of Elul.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Yitzchak Markowitz; Kel Mistater: R' Hershel Katz (Williamsburg). The Rebbe blessed over the cup and recited Sheva Brachos.

The Rebbe approached the amud for Maariv in honor of the yahrzeit this week of his grandfather, the holy Gaon, the Yetev Lev zy"a.

After Havdalah the congregation passed by to wish a gutte voch. They finished at around 10:45.

Friday, Parshas Shoftim, 2nd day of Rosh Chodesh Elul

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the hall of Yeshiva Ketana, Avnei Tzedek branch, under the direction of HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Eliezer Davidovitch shlit"a.
Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin with the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yosef Yuda Pasternak.

The Rebbe shlit"a led the recitation of Hallel, and during the Torah reading was given the fourth aliyah.

The Rebbe recited "L'Dovid Hashem Ori" after Shacharis, before the Torah reading.

After Mussaf, the Rebbe shlit"a blew the shofar and recited ten chapters of Tehillim, as is customary during the month of Elul.

Afterwards a lechayim gathering took place in the hall of the beis medrash. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochur and the rebbeim and talmidim of the yeshiva well, delivered words of Torah and guidance for the month of Elul, and concluded with his holy blessing.

Thursday, Parshas Shoftim, 1 Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Zalman Leib Schonfeld, at which the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Branch Birech Moshe. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yoel Wiesel.
The Rebbe shlit"a proceeded to Hallel, and during the Torah reading was called up as the fourth aliyah. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in his private room.

At around 1:00, the Rebbe shlit"a arrived at the ceremony of pouring the foundations and lechayim gathering at our beis medrash at 68 Dolak — the 'Zera Kodesh' neighborhood in Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe poured the foundations and honored his brother-in-law, HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, rav of the beis medrash, and his brother-in-law, the Rav of the Even Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, chairman of the Kiryas Joel mikvah committee, to pour as well, along with the leaders of the kehilla, askanim and residents of the neighborhood.
Afterward, a lechayim gathering took place in the beis medrash hall. A niggun was sung in honor of the occasion, with R' Dovid Eckstein of Eretz Yisroel performing. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the entire gathering well, delivered words of Torah and chizuk about the importance of going to the mikvah, spoke in praise of the beis medrash, and concluded with his holy blessing.

On the way out, the Rebbe looked over the large area where the new and magnificent building for the beis medrash will be built. They finished at around 1:30.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a went to our beis medrash 'Beis Shmuel' in the Divrei Chaim neighborhood. The Rebbe toured the entire beis medrash, viewed the ongoing construction to double the size of the beis medrash and mikvah, and heard a report on the future plans.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a went to the mikvah taharah being built in the neighborhood. The Rebbe went in to look around and heard a report from the askanim about the further plans.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a went to the Claw development in the Divrei Chaim neighborhood, where several hundred apartments are being built. The Rebbe looked around and heard a report on the plans for this project and various other projects in the neighborhood from R' Yitzchak Eckstein, one of the leading askanim of the Beis Shmuel beis medrash and a leader of the Village of Bloomingrove, and R' Zusha Gelb.

At around 2:15, the Rebbe shlit"a arrived at the Heichal Yeshiva Gedolah, Branch Etz Chaim, Shiur 3, in the Radoshitz beis medrash on Friland Street, where the Rebbe extended his holy tish in honor of Rosh Chodesh. During the seudah, niggunim of Rosh Chodesh and of the Yamim Noraim were sung. Various questions relevant to bochurim during the Yamim Noraim were also discussed, as well as various customs when visiting the kevarim of tzaddikim, in connection with their upcoming trip to the holy places in Europe. The Rebbe answered everything with sound reasoning and insight.

The Rebbe honored the yeshiva students with leading Borchi Nafshi, and then delivered brief words of Torah and a blessing to the bochurim.
For Birkas Hamazon, the Rebbe honored the menahel, HaGaon Rabbi Mordechai Aharon Zabel shlit"a. They finished at around 3:40.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
R' Baruch Meir Broder - R' Shimon Yitzchak Filipf, at Kinor Dovid Hall.

Yechidus hours at the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Court were from around 7:30 until 12:10 at night.

During the yechidus hours, the siyum of writing the letters took place for the Sefer Torah being written by R' Yaakov Yitzchak Stohl, which will be brought in this coming Sunday, Ki Seitzei, at the Ohel Feiga beis medrash. The Rebbe wrote in the letters, drank a lechayim, and bestowed his holy blessings.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in his holy home's tenaim room for the following mechutanim:

R' Shlomo Berzel HaKohen Glick (Williamsburg) - R' Yehoshua Ber Schwartz.

The Rebbe davened Mincha at around 8:30 and Maariv at around 12:10.

Erev Shabbos, Parshas "V'im Yarchiv Hashem Es Gevulcha"!

A historic feeling of joy envelops the members, talmidim and chassidim of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a in Eretz Yisroel and abroad, as the latest news arrives from Eretz Yisroel, that the members of our holy kehilla, of both kehillos, in Yerushalayim, the holy city, and in Bnei Brak, will, b'ezras Hashem, this Shabbos move over and renew a spacious place as a central great beis medrash for the local kehillos.

Yerushalayim, the holy city

After the kehilla was, unfortunately, wandering and displaced for the past several months since the great fire, may Hashem avenge it, this week the temporary great beis medrash was completed in the Yeshivas Chevron building in the center of the city.

The administration of our holy kehilla in Yerushalayim set up this place for the glory and splendor of Hashem, so that it should be comfortable for the next few years, until, IY"H, the kehilla moves into the new magnificent building at Tel Talpiyot, for which, with Hashem's kindness, the necessary permits have already been received and the excavation work has begun, on Rechov Yonah.

Bnei Brak

After a lengthy period during which our great beis medrash of our kehilla was stationed on the upper floors of the Talmud Torah building, and the place was too small to hold the large crowd, may they increase, this week massive work was carried out, b'ezras Hashem, on the rear floor, which proceeded at great speed over the last 10 days, b'siyata d'Shmaya.

The administration of our holy kehilla has already prepared for this Shabbos Kodesh a magnificent, high and bright, grand and splendid hall that will serve as the great beis medrash for the glory and splendor of Hashem, to accommodate the flourishing crowd in Bnei Brak, may they increase.

The administration will, IY"H, continue to renovate the beis medrash from the inside after Shabbos until the Yamim Tovim, bli neder.

The blessings of the tzaddik, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, will, IY"H, accompany them, that "they shall not harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain," and that the work may be completed, b'siyata d'Shmaya, for the glory and splendor of Hashem.

"Broaden the place of your tent," and the Ruach HaKodesh says, "So shall you increase and so shall you spread out."
