Monday, Parshas Vayigash — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe lit 5 candles in honor of the yahrzeit of the HaGaon HaKadosh of Shinova zy"a, and during the Torah reading was called up for Shlishi. After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim shiur on chapter 19, verse 8.

In the afternoon, at around 4:50, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home, and before davening lit 5 candles in honor of the yahrzeit of the HaGaon HaKadosh of Shinova zy"a.

After Mincha, at around 5:20, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a went over to the Beis Rachel building, Binyan Leah Esther, where the Rebbe extended his pure table in honor of the yahrzeit of the HaGaon HaKadosh of Shinova zy"a together with the talmidim of our holy yeshiva, the Yeshiva Gedolah in Boro Park. During the seudah, songs of inspiration were sung. The Rebbe honored the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Rubin shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Ciszanów, a grandson of the one whose hilula it is, to relate stories about his grandfather, the baal hilula zy"a, and the Rebbe added various holy stories for an extended time.
The Rebbe then delivered words of holy Torah in the way of the baal hilula, that one must see to it that Yiddishkeit does not become comfortable, rather one must toil and exert oneself for a mitzvah, and he concluded with his holy blessing.
The Rebbe honored HaGaon, the Av Beis Din of Ciszanów shlit"a, with leading Birkas HaMazon. It ended at around 7:10.

In the evening, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:

The Rebbe received the public from around 8:15 until 12:30 after midnight, in his holy home on Ohel Court.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in the tenaim hall in his holy home for the mechutanim HaRav Bentzion Lichtenstein shlit"a - HaRav Yosef Hersh Bennett shlit"a.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:30, and then continued receiving the public.

Sunday, Parshas Vayigash — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

After davening, the Rebbe learned the daily Tehillim shiur with those present and spoke about current matters. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the morning, the Munkatch Rebbe's son, HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Elazar Rabinowitz shlit"a, Rosh Yeshiva of Munkatch, the son of the Munkatch Rebbe shlit"a, paid a visit to the Rebbe in his holy home in Kiryas Joel, to receive his holy blessings on the occasion of the wedding of his youngest son. A pleasant conversation took place, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings upon him.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Divrei Yoel branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room. Around 5:00, the Rebbe davened Mincha in the yeshiva.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
R' Yoel Levy - R' Yitzchak HaKohen Friedman, at Kinor Dovid hall.
R' Yaakov Klepner (of Williamsburg) - R' Moshe Yitzchak Rosenfeld, at Beis Rachel Paradise hall.

After the chuppos, around 7:40, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the halls of Keren V'Yoel Moshe to the siyum on Maseches Berachos by the Chaburas Ezras HaTorah of our holy kehilla. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and spoke words of blessing, that they should merit to increase Torah and glorify it and be able to complete the entire Shas. He concluded with his holy blessing to all the learners, and especially to HaRav Shlomo Hersh Kornbluh shlit"a, director of the chabura, and HaRav Yoel Weinberger shlit"a, director of Kvias Itim.

Afterwards, around 8:00, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the Shaagas Aryeh neighborhood to the new 'Landau's Shaagas Aryeh Supermarket,' owned by R' Mordechai Landau and his son R' Shmuel Aharon. The Rebbe toured the store and then affixed a mezuzah at the main entrance. A lechayim gathering followed and a pleasant conversation took place. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and offered blessings to the owners of the store, to HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, rav of the Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel in the Divrei Chaim neighborhood, and to the entire public.

The reception hours in Kiryas Joel were from around 8:30 until 1:00 at night, in his holy home on Uhel Ct.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Mikeitz — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Shabbos afternoon, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a placed the shtreimel on the chassanim:
The chassan Yitzchak, son of Yoel Schreiber.
The chassan Meir, son of Yuda Hersh Berger.

On Friday evening at around 5:00, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went up to daven Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Yosha Nachman Schreiber (London).
Davening ended at around 6:25. An announcement was made for the Chevra Hatzalah of Kiryas Joel, the congregation went over to wish a good Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:35 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos seudah in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta, and began, as is his holy custom, with Shalom Aleichem, with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the chassan Meir Eliezer, may he be well, son of HaGaon Rabbi Barach Moshe shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the following with the zemiros: Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Yosef Shmuel Berkowitz shlit"a, moreh tzedek. Menucha V'Simcha: Rabbi Yitzchak Shalom Friedman shlit"a, moreh tzedek.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse 'Vayehi miketz shnasayim yamim' and explained, in the manner of a derush, matters of Chanukah in the sugya of "we do not perform mitzvos in bundles."

Kah Echsof: Rabbi Yoel Yitzchak Stern shlit"a, moreh tzedek of the Dinov beis medrash in Kiryas Joel. Birkas Hamazon: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Moshe Meizlish shlit"a, son-in-law of the Rav of the Even Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a.

Stories and Anecdotes: This week the Rebbe shlit"a told about the holy Divrei Yechezkel of Shinova zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Monday, 6 Teves.

Kah Ribon Olam: R' Refael Perlmutter (Monsey). The newlyweds went over to take fruit, as on the seventh day: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Horowitz shlit"a, son-in-law of the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Davening ended at around 11:10.

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 9:20. Pesukei D'Zimra: R' Amram Nosson Felberbaum. The Rebbe went up to daven Shacharis.

The Rebbe honored the following with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse 'Kulanu bnei ish echad nachnu' and explained that the power of the Chanukah lights is that the light of Torah shines into the heart; "a mitzvah is a lamp and Torah is light." Even after the days of Chanukah, a holy impression remains for later.

Maariv of Motzei Shabbos: R' Chaim Yaakov (Williamsburg). After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a good week. Davening ended at around 7:15.

After Havdalah, the bochurim singers who help with the nigunim at the Friday night seudah entered his holy residence, and the Rebbe distributed coins and shared of his holy bracha.

Friday, Parshas Mikeitz, Zos Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal of Yeshiva Gedolah, Shiur 4. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
the bochur Yosef Yakov.
the bochur Dovid Yissochor Farkash.
the bochur Binyamin Hillel Nave.
the bochur Eliezer Dovid Hoffman.
The Rebbe approached Hallel with emotion and sweetness, and Hagbah was done during the Torah reading.

After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Heichal of the beis medrash.

Afterwards, the ceremony of burning the wicks took place in the courtyard of the yeshiva together with the talmidim of the yeshiva. The Rebbe placed the wicks into the bonfire and danced holy dances for several minutes.

A pleasant conversation took place with HaGaon R' Wolf Aharon Teller shlit"a and HaGaon R' Yoel Kahn shlit"a about the new "custom eruv truck" that the Vaad HaEruvin of Kiryas Joel purchased for the fantastic sum of over two hundred thousand dollars for the needs of the eruvin in all the neighborhoods of the great city of Kiryas Joel, may it be rebuilt. They gave the Rebbe a report of the full activities of the Vaad HaEruvin and pointed out the new eruv truck, which was present there. The Rebbe blessed them from his holy blessings, and extended special good wishes to HaRav R' Yisroel Hersh Reich shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva, who took it upon himself and was occupied with assembling all the money for the new truck.

Afterwards, the Rebbe returned to the beis medrash, where the Rebbe set his pure table in honor of Zos Chanukah. The Rebbe tore the challah without a knife, as is customary on Shabbos Kodesh. Chanukah melodies were sung, and the Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon R' Aryeh Dov Kornbluh shlit"a spoke. The Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Yitzchak Yaakov Rosenfeld shlit"a, one of the roshei yeshiva, with Mizmor Shir Chanukas.
Then the Rebbe shared words of blessing and said that Chanukah is auspicious for all blessings, especially for shidduchim, and bestowed from his holy blessings.
Then they continued with melodies of Hallel and thanksgiving. The Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Aryeh Dov Kornbluh shlit"a with Birkas HaMazon. Afterwards, the Rebbe distributed coins to the talmidim, the rebbeim and the administration of the yeshiva. It concluded at around 1:10.

Leil Zos Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At about 6:00 the Rebbe davened Maariv. Before Maariv, the chazan of the beis medrash, R' Chanani Yom Tov Lipa Deutsch lit the menorah.

At about 9:20 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, in the presence of thousands of men. The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterwards the Rebbe said the zemiros and niggunim of hisorerus were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as customary. At the end, R' Shlomo Hersh Eckstein sang Mizmor Shir Chanukas as is customary. Then the Rebbe distributed coins to the children of the choir, and the singing of niggunim of hisorerus continued.

Then the Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of Torah discourse and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kibsa zakuk lah," and then continued at greater length with words of aggadah and chassidus, explaining that the miracle of Chanukah came about through the heavenly fire that is not consumed, and he explained it in various ways. He added that "V'atah yigdal na koach Hashem" — "koach" with its letters spelled out equals in gematria "lehadlik ner Chanukah." The power of the heavenly fire comes down to every Jew when lighting the Chanukah menorah, and one's heart must be lifted in the ways of Hashem with a heavenly fire. He added that "lehadlik ner Chanukah" equals in gematria "Melech rofei ne'eman"; when the Chanukah candles are lit, healing and salvation flow to everyone, both physical healing and spiritual healing. He continued that we pray "v'ezkeh lir'os banim u'vnei banim osekim baTorah u'vamitzvos." In the coming weeks, when the gentile holidays fall and people are not working, these days should be devoted to learning Torah, fathers and sons together. He concluded with his holy blessing.

Afterwards an uplifted lechayim gathering took place with song and music. Many niggunim of hisorerus and of joy and gratitude were sung. The Rebbe drank lechayim and blessed the entire gathering, and shared words of blessing, quoting the Roke'ach that the eight days of Chanukah allude to the eight days of Sukkos, which culminate in Shemini Atzeres when we pray for rain, corresponding to Zos Chanukah. Therefore on Zos Chanukah an abundance of parnassah also descends. He bestowed abundant blessings on the entire gathering. Then the singing of niggunim of Hallel and gratitude continued, and the Rebbe distributed coins to the bochurim singers of the choir. It concluded at about 11:40.

The Night of the Seventh of Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At around 6:00 the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, the bochur Mendel Frenkel lit the menorah.

In the evening, the annual Chanukah seudah for the orphans of our holy kehilla took place in the Rebbe's holy home, at the Uhel Katan, at the personal invitation of the faithful father and shepherd, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.
A very lavish seudah was set up, with a special one for the orphan boys headed by the Rebbe shlit"a, and a special one for the orphan girls hosted by the Rebbetzin tlit"a.

These Lights Are Holy

At around 9:20 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the hall of his holy home for the private lighting of the Chanukah lights with the orphans. The Rebbe shlit"a poured in the oil and recited the brachos with holy fire.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and together they sang the nigunim, melodies of inspiration, praise and thanksgiving.
After the lighting, the gathering took place with a very rich program for all the participants, with the participation of the Rebbe shlit"a. R' Yonason Schwartz performed and delighted with chazzanus selections, and gladdened the children with interesting tricks in honor of the day. The Rebbe personally spent a longer time with the children, and it was an opportunity for everyone to ask the Rebbe shlit"a questions, to which the Rebbe responded with a cheerful countenance and spoke with good taste and wisdom. Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered moving words of divrei kodesh for an extended time, full of chizuk and feeling, and along with this gave his holy brachos.

Afterwards the Rebbe personally distributed gifts and Chanukah gelt to each one according to age.
The Rebbe shlit"a warmly thanked the esteemed askanim who arrange and bring about this lavish evening year after year, among the other esteemed askanim R' Aryeh Herskovitz, R' Eliezer Roth, and R' Mordechai Scher. It concluded at around 12:00.

Wednesday, Parshas Mikeitz, the 6th of Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, brissen took place:
For the newborn son of R' Shlomo Chaim Kohn, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
For the newborn son of R' Elazar Levy, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Yoel Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:

The Rebbe went up to Hallel, and during the Torah reading the Rebbe performed hagbah. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Heichal HaBeis Medrash.

The night of the 6th of Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, the bochur Elimelech, son of Yoshe Leib Stein, lit the menorah.

At around 9:10, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a large crowd, "the glory of a king." The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and inspiring melodies were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as is customary.
Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words of derush and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kevsa zokuk lah," and then continued in the way of aggadah, saying that even if a Jew, chas v'shalom, has no merits, when there is unity, the blessings of the other Jews flow over onto him, and he is blessed with all good things, and concluded with his holy blessing.
After the holy words, the singing of nigunim continued. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It ended at around 10:25.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a went over to Mivtzar HaKollelim for the annual inspirational gathering of the "Leil Shishi Group." Several inspiring melodies were sung, and HaRav R' Hershel Kohn shlit"a spoke. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the entire assembly well, and delivered holy words of inspiration, saying that from Chanukah we see the greatness of a true longing for a mitzvah. The Rebbe also spoke in praise of the group, and concluded with his holy blessing. It ended at around 10:55.

The night of the 5th of Chanukah, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy home. Before Maariv, the bochur Shimshon, son of R' Meir Feuerstein, lit the menorah.

At around 9:10, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a large crowd, "the glory of a king." The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and inspiring melodies were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as is customary.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words of derush and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kevsa zokuk lah," and then continued in the way of aggadah, saying that it is enough for one Jew to light the Chanukah candles with the proper kavanos, and this brings down all blessings for all of Klal Yisroel, and concluded with his holy blessing.
After the holy words, the singing of nigunim continued. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It ended at around 10:25.

In his holy home, a lechayim celebration took place in honor of the kishur chasunah (engagement) of the chosson, son of HaRav R' Yoel Weider, one of the devoted attendants of the Rebbe's household, to the kallah, daughter of HaRav R' Shabsi Yitzchak Rosenberg. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the chosson, the mechutanim, and the grandfathers well.

Tuesday, the 5th of Chanukah

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Etz Chaim branch. The Rebbe went up to Hallel, and during the Torah reading he was called up as Shlishi.

At around 5:15 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

The Night of the 4th Day of Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy residence. Before Maariv, the bochur Shalom Eliezer son of R' Berel Stein lit the menorah.

At around 9:10 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash for the Chanukah candle lighting, in the presence of a large crowd, in the majesty of a king. The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterwards the Rebbe recited the zemiros, inspiring melodies were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as is customary. R' Moshe Levi Braun delighted the crowd with chazzanus selections on the violin.

Afterwards the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a delivered a holy discourse of Torah thoughts and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kibsah zakuk lah." He then continued in the manner of aggadah, explaining that through the Chanukah lights one merits to hear the bas kol and does not need to come to "hechisha b'makel" (being struck with a stick), and that it instills a pleasantness and sweetness of Torah. He concluded with his holy blessing.
After the discourse, singing of niggunim continued. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished blessings. It concluded at around 10:35.

Monday, 4th Day of Chanukah

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
The son of HaGaon Rabbi Yosef Moshe Stauber shlit"a, a moreh tzedek.
The bochur Yoel Fish.
The bochur Yosef Lebovitch.
The Rebbe proceeded to Hallel, and during the Torah reading Hagbah was performed.
After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe visited the mehudar bakery of our holy kehilla.

At around 5:15 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence.
