Sunday, Parshas Bo — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
the bochur Shalom Meir HaKohen Rubin.
the bochur Eliezer Zusia Portugal.
the bochur Lipa Berachel Friedman.
the bochur Zalman Leib Farkash.
the bochur Berish Wertheimer.
After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

Immediately after Shacharis, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Heichal HaMesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch, where the Rebbe delivered a shiur on the sugya in the yeshiva's shiurim, Maseches Bava Metzia, daf 4b, on the sugya of "Hilch," and in doing so left a question for the bochurim before departing for a rest in Palm Springs, California.
Afterwards, the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and music, with "Ki Malachav," on the occasion of his departure for a rest.

At around 1:25 the Rebbe shlit"a left his holy residence on the way to Stewart Airport. At the airport, the Rebbe greeted his longtime chavrusa, HaGaon Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Unsdorfer shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Rosh Chochma of Montreal.

At around 2:30 the private plane took off on the way to Palm Springs, California. During the flight the Rebbe shlit"a engaged in Torah study together with his chavrusa, the HaGaon, Av Beis Din of Rosh Chochma shlit"a. The Rebbe also spent an extended time reviewing and looking over the volume of the new, splendid Responsa Eitz Chaim, which is now being prepared for print, and in doing so proofread a portion of the additions and notes.

The plane landed at Palm Springs International Airport at around 5:00 local time (8:00 New York time).
The Rebbe was met at the airport by members of our community who are vacationing there, and the Rebbe traveled to his holy residence.

At around 5:40 the Rebbe shlit"a came in to daven Mincha in the local beis medrash. Between Mincha and Maariv the Rebbe engaged in his learning, and at the time of Rabbeinu Tam, approximately 6:12, the Rebbe davened Maariv.

Shabbos, Parshas Vaeira, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Shabbos afternoon, the Rebbe put the shtreimel on the chassanim.
The chassan Yechiel Alter, the bochur, son of Berish Gefen.
The chassan Yoshe, the bochur, son of Moshe Avrohom Razonay (Beit Shemesh).

On Friday night at around 5:20, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaRav R' Berish Gefen.
The davening concluded at around 6:50. The congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:40, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos seudah in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidei HaMesivta, and began, in his holy manner, with Shalom Aleichem, with emotion and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the chassan Meir Eliezer (may he have a good time), son of HaGaon Rabbi Baruch Moshe shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash. Lifting of the cup: HaRav R' Moshe Yosef Friedlander.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon R' Naftali Hirtzka Zwebel shlit"a, Rosh Av Beis Din of Williamsburg. Menucha V'Simcha: R' Hershel Ashkenazi shlit"a, son of the Stanislav Rebbe of London shlit"a and son-in-law of the Beis Yitzchak Spinka Rebbe shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And also I have heard the groaning of the Children of Israel," and explained in the manner of a derush the topic of "machshava" (Hashem considering a thought).

Stories and anecdotes: This week the Rebbe shlit"a related stories about his grandfather, our master and teacher, the holy Gaon, the Eitz Chaim zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Tuesday, 6 Shevat.

On Shabbos morning, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 9:20. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaRav R' Akiva Hirsch. The Rebbe recited "Vayechrosu" verse by verse and then approached the amud for Shacharis.

After davening, a bris took place for a newborn son of R' Chaim Yosef Friedman, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel. The davening concluded at around 12:30.

For Mincha and Shalosh Seudos, the Rebbe entered at around 5:20. Mincha: R' Yaakov Moshe Mittelman. Hotza'ah and Hachnasah: HaRav R' Mordechai Hersh Goldman (Montreal). Kohen: HaRav R' Mendel Friedman. Levi: Rabbi Yekusiel Tzvi Levi shlit"a. Shlishi: HaGaon R' Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, Dayan and Moreh Tzedek of Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel Binyamin. The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Masorah "And I will place a redemption between My people and your people," and explained that one of the conditions of teshuva is complete regret and changing one's deeds for the better. With Jews, however, a good thought is reckoned as a deed, because a Jew has no "orlas halev" (blockage of the heart). Therefore, even if one has only a good resolution, it is already considered a great return, but it must be a genuine thought of teshuva from the depths of the heart.

For Maariv on Motzei Shabbos, the Rebbe approached the amud in honor of the yahrzeit this week. After Havdalah, the congregation went over to wish a gutte voch, and they escorted the Rebbe shlit"a with song and music, with "Ki Malachav," on the occasion of his departure today for a rest in Palm Springs, California. The davening concluded at around 7:40.

There were yechidus hours in the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Court from 9:20 until 1:20 after midnight.

During the yechidus hours, the Zlatchov Netivos Rebbe shlit"a, who is staying in Kiryas Joel in honor of his grandson's wedding, mazel tov, paid a visit. A pleasant conversation ensued, and the Rebbe sent along his holy blessing to the chassan and the mechutanim.

A group of bochurim from Yeshivas Keren Orah of Lakewood, who had chosen to spend Shabbos "B'tzeil HaKodesh," also entered. The Rebbe asked about their learning and bestowed his holy blessing.
Afterwards, a group of bochurim from Yeshivas Darchei Chaim of Boro Park, who had chosen to spend Shabbos "B'tzeil HaKodesh," entered. The Rebbe asked about their learning and bestowed his holy blessing.

Friday, Erev Shabbos Parshas Vaeira — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash Rav Tuv on the occasion of the bris simcha of the son born to HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, the rav of the beis medrash.

Before davening, a bris took place for the son born to R' Asher Goldman, at which the Rebbe served as sandek.

After davening, the bris simcha took place in the main hall of the beis medrash. Mohel: the father of the baby, HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a; sandek: the grandfather of the baby, HaGaon HaTzaddik, rav of the Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a; sandek standing: the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Boro Park shlit"a; blessings and naming: the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a. He was named in Yisroel: Yitzchak, after his grandfather, the Alesk Rebbe zt"l.
After the bris, the entire congregation went over to wish the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a mazel tov.

Afterwards, the seudas bris took place in the main hall of the beis medrash. The Rebbe washed for the seudas bris, and tore the challah without a knife, as is customary on Erev Shabbos.
The grandfather, HaGaon HaTzaddik, rav of the Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a, and the father of the baby, HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, spoke. With the cup of wine, the Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Yoel Asher Wieder shlit"a, director of the Yeshiva Ketana Zera Kodesh branch.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of Torah regarding the topic of bris milah, and concluded with abundant blessings.
Birkas Hamazon: the Rebbe shlit"a. The Rebbe honored the family members with the Harachaman's, as well as R' Chaim Hersh Oberlander and R' Yoel Dovid Schwartz. The seudah ended at around 12:30.

Afterwards, the Rebbe went up to the home of HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, where the Rebbe wished the mothers well.

During the morning hours, the Spinka Beis Yitzchak Rebbe shlit"a, who was spending Shabbos in Kiryas Joel for a family simcha, paid a visit to the Rebbe in his holy home. A pleasant conversation ensued, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings upon him.

Thursday, Parshas Vaeira, Rosh Chodesh Shevat — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris was held for the newborn son of R' Tuvia Gedalia Goldstein, at which the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Beirach Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

The Rebbe approached Hallel with emotion and arousal, the Torah was lifted at the Torah reading, and after davening a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

During the morning hours the Rebbe visited the mehudar bakery of our holy kehilla.

In the afternoon at around 5:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

At around 6:50 the Rebbe shlit"a traveled to Williamsburg, where the second gathering for negidim and generous-hearted donors took place in his holy home on Hewes St., for the benefit of the new fund "Lev Aharon," which was founded two weeks ago to strengthen our holy kehilla and its mosdos in Eretz Yisroel. The Rebbe delivered holy words and a blessing, and obligated large sums which the donors pledged to revive the spirit of the tzaddik. The Rebbe also encouraged the askanim so that they should be able to continue raising larger sums for the holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel.

Also entering privately into his holy home were HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, together with his son-in-law Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a, on the occasion of the upcoming upsherin of his son, which will take place next week. The Rebbe cut some of the hair and put a kappel with tzitzis on the child. Afterward a lechayim was held and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings.

Afterward the Rebbe shlit"a traveled to Boro Park for the "Torah LeHadira" gathering for the benefit of our kollel, Kollel Divrei Yoel in Boro Park, with its nearly 200 kollel learners, together with the siyum of the Torah subjects, held in the Lipschitz Hall in Boro Park.

Upon arriving in Boro Park at around 9:45, the Rebbe shlit"a first went to our great beis medrash, where the Rebbe davened Maariv. The baal tefillah was R' Shalom Mittelman.

After Maariv the Rebbe went to the Torah LeHadira gathering. Upon arrival, the Rebbe greeted the distinguished speaker, HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Stern shlit"a, Rav of Maariv in the city of Bnei Brak, and the rabbonim of the kollel. The distinguished speaker finished his address, after which the chairman of the gathering, R' Moshe Aharon Filipp, took the podium and called upon R' Shaul Friedman of Eretz Yisroel, a member of the kollel's board, to speak.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words in praise of the kollel, which is renowned throughout the entire city, and in praise of the supporters of Torah who have an equal share in the Torah learning. The Rebbe urged davening specifically in the batei medrash of our holy kehilla, both on Shabbos and during the week, and spoke with satisfaction about the expansion of the boundaries of holiness at the Tefillah L'Moshe beis medrash. In conclusion of his words, he greeted his close friend, the mighty HaGaon, the distinguished speaker shlit"a, and concluded with abundant blessings.

The Rebbe drank a lechayim and offered good wishes to the rabbonim and learners of the kollel and to the entire public, and then distributed a set of Beirach Moshe to all the married men who completed and excelled in Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah, volume one. The event concluded at around 11:00, and the Rebbe traveled home to his holy home in Kiryas Joel.

Upon arriving back in Kiryas Joel at around 12:30, the Rebbe shlit"a went to the home of his grandson, HaRav R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, Rav of the Rav Tuv beis medrash, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, and son-in-law of HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Boro Park shlit"a, for the Vachnacht celebration of his newborn son, mazel tov. A pleasant conversation took place about the holy R' Zusha of Anipoli zy"a, whose yahrzeit fell today, 2 Shevat. The Rebbe drank a lechayim, tasted some refreshments, and bestowed his holy blessings. On the way out, the Rebbe recited Krias Shema and wished the mothers, as is customary. The visit ended at around 1:10.
