Wednesday, Parshas Pekudei — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, the following brissin took place:
The son born to R' Avrohom Spielman, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
The son born to R' Menachem Moshe Gold, where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Yoel Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Wolf Retek.

After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 19, verse 12. Afterward, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe went on his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse, and afterwards to the mehudar bakery of our holy kehilla.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Yoel Moshe branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room. At around 6:10 the Rebbe davened Mincha in the yeshiva.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
R' Yaakov Kapel Siman - R' Yoel Landau, at Kinor Dovid hall.
R' Yerucham Zev Fried - R' Avrohom Yeshaya Kaufman, at Beis Rachel Paradise hall.
R' Berish Schoenbrun - R' Gedalya Apfel, at Ginas Klein hall.

Yechidus hours were from about 8:00 until 12:45 at night, at the Rebbe's holy residence on Uhel Court.

During the yechidus hours, the askanim of 'Kiryat Zayit Raanan' in New Jersey, headed by the founder, Rabbi Moshe Landau shlit"a of Miamipolia, entered the Rebbe's room for guidance, advice and a blessing for the new community. A pleasant conversation ensued. The Rebbe took an interest in the details of the educational institutions in the town and in the prices of the apartments, and went over various details of the project for an extended time. The Rebbe warmly bestowed his holy blessings upon Rabbi Moshe shlit"a and upon HaGaon R' Yeshaya Gedalya Kaufman shlit"a, dayan of Krali and one of the rabbanim of the town. Rabbi Moshe shlit"a presented the Rebbe with his sefer Ratzon Moshe.

A siyum of the writing of the letters of a Sefer Torah also took place. The Sefer Torah is being written by R' Yaakov Pinchas Friedman and will be brought in this coming Sunday, Parshas Vayikra, at Beis Medrash Divrei Yoel. The Rebbe wrote in some of the letters, drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings.

HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Shimon Yitzchak Schlesinger shlit"a, member of the Badatz Eida HaChareidis of Yerushalayim, the holy city, came for a visit. A pleasant conversation developed in Torah matters regarding the names of people in Gittin and various halachos of the Yom Tov of Purim. The Rebbe honored him with a lechayim, bestowed his holy blessing upon him and accompanied him out to the street.

Also entering for yechidus was Rabbi Pinchas Sternbuch shlit"a, one of the grandsons of the Posek HaDor and Mara D'Atra of the Holy Land shlit"a, together with the distinguished askan Rabbi Shimon Davidowitz shlit"a, chairman of the Vaad HaPeulah of the Eida HaChareidis, along with askanim of the Vaad HaPeulah in the U.S., to receive a blessing in connection with a special campaign to enlist our people as members of the Vaad HaPeulah. A conversation took place about the full activities of the Vaad and about the plans to enlist our people as members in order to raise larger funds so as to be able to accomplish more, and they discussed the situation of the draft in Eretz Yisroel. The Rebbe wished success to Rabbi Pinchas shlit"a and all the askanim, and especially to R' Yitzchak Elyakim Schwartz, chairman of the Vaad HaPeulah in the U.S. Rabbi Pinchas shlit"a presented the Rebbe, on behalf of his grandfather, the Mara D'Atra of the Holy Land shlit"a, with the new volume of his sefer Halichos V'Hanhagos.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:00, and afterward continued receiving the public.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Etz Chaim branch, Shiur Gimmel. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochurim:
the bochur Baruch Yuda Mordechai Ackerman.
the bochur Yisroel Ari Hollander.

After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 19, verse 11, after which a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Heichal HaBeis Medrash.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Beirach Moshe branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room. At around 6:10, the Rebbe davened Mincha in the yeshiva.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a traveled to Williamsburg for the weekly reception times.
The reception times in the Rebbe's home, in the holy residence on Hewes St., lasted from around 8:20 until 12:00 at night.

During the reception times, HaGaon Rabbi Hershel Unsdorfer shlit"a, Rosh Kehal of Papa Boro Park, son of the Av Beis Din of Reishis Chochmah in Montreal shlit"a and son-in-law of the Papa Boro Park Rebbe shlit"a, entered the Rebbe's room to receive his blessing on the occasion of the simcha of his son's marriage, mazel tov.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:00 and then continued receiving the public.

Monday, Parshas Pekudei — 2 Adar II, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Yoel Perel, where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe laid tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochurim:
the bochur Yekusiel Yitzchak Kahana.
the bochur Moshe Dovid Friedman.

The Rebbe approached to Hallel, and during the Torah reading was given the fourth aliya. After davening, a lechayim took place with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the afternoon at around 6:45, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Zanz St.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
R' Yitzchok Dovid Schwartz - R' Avrohom Shlomo Eliezer Berkowitz, at Kinor Dovid hall.
R' Meir Mendel Weiss - R' Moshe Hersh Brach, at Beis Rachel Paradise hall.

After the chuppahs, at around 8:00, the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the halls of Keren V'Yoel Moshe for the gathering in honor of the Torah and distribution of funds to hundreds of kollel members from across Greater New York and Canada, who had been tested on various areas of Torah, through the generosity of the distinguished philanthropist R' Moshe Yaakov Yosef Brach. Several nigunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and blessed the esteemed donor and the rabbanim and kollel members. The Rebbe spoke words of Torah, saying that through supporting Torah, mercy is aroused, and he spoke in praise of the esteemed donor who donates such significant sums to the kollel members. He concluded with abundant blessings for the rabbanim and kollel members and for the donor, and especially for HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, who exerted himself to attend the gathering in honor of the Torah. Afterwards, the Rebbe distributed the large sums to all the rabbanim and kollel members. They continued with joyous nigunim and the Rebbe rose to dance. It concluded at around 8:40.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv at around 8:45 in his holy home, on Ohel St.

After Maariv, at around 9:00, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the halls of his holy home for private sheva brachos arranged by the Rebbe shlit"a, where the Rebbe expressed hakaras hatov to the philanthropists who contributed phenomenal sums toward the great and magnificent building of Tel Talpiyos in the holy city of Yerushalayim.
The Rebbe greeted the distinguished guests, the esteemed philanthropists, and washed for the sheva brachos seudah. During the seudah, a collection of ancient manuscripts was distributed, historic manuscripts of Gedolei Yisroel, from the collection of the distinguished philanthropist R' Avrohom Yuda Mandel and the distinguished philanthropist R' Avrohom Brach.
HaRav R' Shlomo Shabsi Kestenbaum shlit"a, one of the rabbanim of our holy kehilla in Williamsburg, read aloud and discussed the history surrounding the manuscripts, and the Rebbe shlit"a responded to all the historic events and various episodes recorded in the manuscripts, adding various interesting matters about the history of our holy Rebbes zy"a in the old country.
Afterwards the Rebbe spoke words of Torah on the subject of the joy of chassan and kallah, and explained that when Moshiach comes, all the batei medrash will rise one level: those from chutz la'aretz will go to Eretz Yisroel, those from Eretz Yisroel to Yerushalayim, and those from Yerushalayim will go to the Beis HaMikdash. It thus emerges that by helping to build the great building in the holy city of Yerushalayim, one is thereby building the Beis HaMikdash. He concluded with abundant blessings for all the esteemed donors, after which the Rebbe rose and danced for an extended time.
For Birkas HaMazon, the Rebbe honored the mechutan HaRav R' Yechiel Shraga Greenfeld shlit"a; the first brachos: the chaver Beis Din, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a; the final bracha: HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of Beis Medrash Beis Boruch shlit"a. It concluded at around 11:30.

Sunday, Parshas Pekudei, 1 Rosh Chodesh Adar II, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a - The Wedding Simcha in Our Holy Courts: The chassan, Rabbi Meir Eliezer, son of the mechutan HaGaon Rabbi Barach Moshe shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash, and grandson of the HaGaon Av Beis Din of Volova shlit"a; and the kallah, daughter of HaGaon R' Yechiel Shraga Greenfeld shlit"a, Rosh Av Beis Din of Semihai shlit"a, son of HaGaon R' Moshe shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Semihai, and grandson of HaGaon R' Zusha Beer shlit"a, the Rebbe of Ratzfert

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Avrohom Leib Landau, where the Rebbe served as mohel and sandek.

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal of the Mesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
The bochur Nosson Karpel Margulies.
The bochur Yoel Zevel.

The Rebbe proceeded to Hallel, and during the Torah reading was called up as the fourth aliyah. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room, where a pleasant conversation developed with HaGaon Av Beis Din of Ohel Moshe shlit"a of Vienna, a grandfather of one of the bar mitzvah bochurim.

At around 5:30 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Chadar Shmuel Chaim in the main beis medrash for Mincha. After Mincha, the entire kehilla, old and young, went over to receive a bracha from the Rebbe shlit"a on the day of the chuppah.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the kabbalas panim in the heichal of the beis medrash at around 6:00. During the kabbalas panim, warm, inspiring melodies were sung, and the badchan, the avreich R' Shimon Esterreicher, performed with words of rebuke and enumerated the great yichus of the chassan and kallah.
The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the chassan, the mechutanim, the grandfathers, and the entire gathering well, and then delivered warm holy words arousing the merit of the forefathers, saying that through the chassan's fast on the day of the chuppah and then the dancing, the forces of evil are subdued and one merits all good, and he concluded with abundant blessings.

The kesuba was arranged. The witnesses to the kesuba were: HaRav R' Yaakov Moshe Goldberger and HaRav R' Elimelech Reich. Afterwards, everyone proceeded to the badeken in the halls of Keren V'Yoel Moshe.

At the chuppah, the Rebbe shlit"a honored the grandfather, HaGaon Av Beis Din of Volova shlit"a, with reciting the kiddushin. The reading of the kesuba: HaGaon Av Beis Din of Boro Park shlit"a. The first blessings: the kallah's grandfather, HaGaon Av Beis Din of Semihai shlit"a. The final blessing: the kallah's grandfather, the Ratzfert Rebbe shlit"a.
The witnesses to the kiddushin: HaGaon Rabbi Yosef Moshe Stauber shlit"a, a moreh tzedek, and HaGaon Rabbi Yosef Shmuel Rottenberg shlit"a, a moreh tzedek and member of the Kiryas Joel Beis Din.
After the chuppah, the Rebbe shlit"a wished holy blessings to the entire gathering, and then broke out in a mitzvah dance with the grandfathers and rabbanim shlit"a.

A few minutes after the chuppah, at the time of Rabbeinu Tam, around 8:10, the Rebbe davened Maariv in the Chadar Shmuel Chaim in the main beis medrash.
Immediately after Maariv, at 8:25, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a appeared in the heichal of the beis medrash for the wedding seudah. The Rebbe danced for a few minutes on the floor and then washed for the seudah. After the fish, the Rebbe wished a lechayim to the entire assembled crowd.
At around 9:30 the chassan entered. The Rebbe danced with the chassan for an extended time, then honored the grandfathers and the mechutanim to dance with the chassan, and then danced together with the entire head table. Afterwards the crowd went over to wish the Rebbe shlit"a mazel tov. The Rebbe left the beis medrash at 9:45.

At around 11:20 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered for Birkas Hamazon and the mitzvah tantz. For Birkas Hamazon, the Rebbe honored Rabbi Naftali Teitelbaum shlit"a (Bnei Brak). The first blessings: HaGaon Rav of our kehilla in Boro Park, 15 shlit"a. The final blessing: HaGaon R' Mordechai Greenfeld shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Semihai Antwerp.

The royal badchan, HaRav R' Mordechai Dovid Esterreicher, called the Rebbe shlit"a to the dancing before the kallah with warm rhymes and aroused the merit of the forefathers. The inspiring melodies continued, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the chassan, the mechutanim, the grandfathers, and the huge assembled crowd well.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a performed the holy dances before the kallah with fiery enthusiasm for an extended time, and then danced with the chassan, with the mechutan HaGaon Rav of the beis medrash, Barach Moshe shlit"a, and his family, and then continued with the entire royal family, the grandchildren of the holy Rebbe, the Beirach Moshe zy"a, with holy emotion for an extended time.
The Rebbe then danced a special dance with his brother, HaGaon Rav of our kehilla in Boro Park, 15 shlit"a.
Then the grandfathers were called to the mitzvah tantz: HaGaon Av Beis Din of Volova shlit"a, HaGaon Av Beis Din of Semihai shlit"a, and the Ratzfert Rebbe shlit"a, as well as the father of the chassan and the father of the kallah shlit"a. In the course of this, the Rebbe danced with each of the grandfathers and mechutanim individually.
The badchan then said words of badchanus and called up the chassan, and they danced Eishes Chayil. On the way out, the Rebbe wished the chassan and kallah well. The Rebbe left the beis medrash at 2:45.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Vayakhel, Shabbos Shekalim, Blessing of the Month of Adar II — A Shabbos of Joy: The Aufruf of the Chasan, the Rebbe's Grandson HaRav Meir Eliezer Teitelbaum shlit"a, Son of the Mechutan HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Medrash Birkas Moshe shlit"a

On Erev Shabbos, after candle-lighting time, the Rebbe placed the shtreimel on his grandson, the chasan HaRav Meir Eliezer Teitelbaum shlit"a.
The Rebbe also placed the shtreimel on the chasanim:
The chasan Shlomo Menashe Heilbrunn, son of R' Mordechai.
The chasan Shmuel Weiss, son of R' Meir Mendel Weiss.

The Rebbe went to the beis medrash with the chasan and the mechutanim, accompanied with song and music.

At about 6:30 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: the mechutan HaGaon R' Yechiel Shraga Grünfeld shlit"a, Rav of Semihaly.
The davening ended at about 8:00. An appeal was held for our holy mosdos in Linden, the congregation went over to wish a good Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At about 8:45 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shulchan Hall together with the talmidim of the mesivta, and began, as is his custom, Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the chasan Yisroel Dushinsky, son of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Medrash Ohel Feiga shlit"a. Lifting of the cup: the Rebbe's grandson HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh Ashkenazi shlit"a, Rav of the Beis Medrash Rav Tuv.

After the fish, the Rebbe shlit"a told the bochurim Jewish news that is interesting for the bochurim to know: that in a heavily used Tikkun Soferim, various errors were found, of missing and extra letters, open and closed sections, and regarding sanctifying the Name. He spoke at length about various fine points of halacha that a scribe must always keep in mind, and about the problems with computer checking.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon R' Leibel Taub shlit"a (Manchester). Menucha V'simcha: R' Dovid Meir Weiss (Yerushalayim).

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse "Vayakhel Moshe es kol adas Bnei Yisroel," and explained, in the manner of a drasha, the sugya of time-bound positive mitzvos.

Kah Echsof: HaRav Naftali Teitelbaum shlit"a (Bnei Brak). Birkas Hamazon: the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Volove shlit"a.

Stories and Anecdotes: This week the Rebbe shlit"a told about the holy R' Boruch of Gorlitz zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Monday, 1 Adar.

Kah Ribon Olam: HaTzaddik R' Yeshaya Kahn shlit"a, son of the Toldos Aharon Rebbe shlit"a. They continued with songs in honor of the simcha. The Rebbe honored the mechutan HaGaon R' Yechiel Shraga Grünfeld shlit"a to sing "Ohr Panecha," which the Rebbe sang with great arousal and outpouring of the soul.
The new chasanim went over to take fruit, as on the seventh day: HaRav Hershel Ashkenazi shlit"a, son of the Stanislav Rebbe of London shlit"a. The tish ended at about 11:55.

And on Shabbos Kodesh

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at about 9:30. Pesukei D'zimra: HaGaon R' Dovid Perl shlit"a. The Rebbe approached the amud for Shacharis and Yotzer, and Mimkomcha was sung as is customary.

Hotzaah and Hachnasah: HaGaon R' Menachem Zev Stern shlit"a, moreh tzedek in our kehilla in Williamsburg, and R' Dovid Shmuel Goldberger. Verses of Shema Yisroel: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Simcha Shalom Steinberger shlit"a, Rav of the Beis Medrash Divrei Chaim.

Aliyos. Kohen: the chasan, the bochur Meir Mendel Weiss — he was showered with candy. Levi: the chasan, the bochur Yoel Apfel — showered with candy. Shlishi: the Rebbe's grandson, the chasan HaRav Meir Eliezer Teitelbaum shlit"a; he was showered with candy and songs of simcha were sung as is customary. Revi'i: the chasan, the bochur Yerucham Zev Fried — showered with candy. Chamishi: the chasan, the bochur Chaim Elazar Wertzberger — showered with candy. Shishi: the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Volove shlit"a. Shevi'i: the chasan, the bochur Meir Dovid Heilbrunn — showered with candy. After his aliyah, the Rebbe called out names on the occasion of the birth of a daughter to:
R' Nosson Nete Mordechai Kaufman.
R' Yoel Hersh Lichtenstein.
R' Yoel Berachi Wertzberger.
R' Avrohom Shimon Wieder.

Hagbah of the second sefer: R' Yitzchok Englander. Gelilah: R' Gavriel Weiss.

At the Haftarah, the Rebbe also recited the first and last verses of "Machar Chodesh," and the Rebbe blessed Rosh Chodesh with great arousal.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Mussaf at the amud, and the piyutim were sung as is customary. Opening of Ane'im Zemiros: R' Avrohom Yeshaya Kaufman.
After davening, a bris was held for a newborn son of R' Avrohom Binyomin Gold, where the Rebbe served as sandek.

A few minutes after davening, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash, north side, for the Kiddusha Rabba simcha in honor of the aufruf. The Rebbe made Kiddush, and songs of simcha were sung.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the chasan, the mechutanim, and the entire congregation well, and delivered words of Torah on the words of Rashi, "He placed the warning about Shabbos before the work of the Mishkan." He explained that when the work of the Mishkan was being donated, good blessings descended from Heaven, and this was in the merit of Shabbos. Likewise, when a Jewish home, a small sanctuary, is established, all good blessings descend through Shabbos. He concluded with his holy blessing. It ended at about 1:35.

Shalosh Seudos

The Rebbe entered the beis medrash for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at about 6:30. Mincha: R' Yaakov Yosef Filaff. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Dovid Meir Weiss. Kohen: R' Yisroel Meir Kahn. Levi: R' Chaim Heller (Williamsburg). Shlishi: R' Shmuel Dovid Markowitz (Williamsburg). Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Aharon Moshe Slager (Williamsburg).

The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Noach Gafen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse in the reading of Parshas Shekalim, "Kol ha'over al hapekudim machatzis hashekel," and explained that the half-shekel is 10 gerah, which hints to the yud of the Name Havaya. If one, chas v'shalom, damages the thought, it causes a flaw in the yud of the Name Havaya, and this must be rectified in these days, and one must know the severity of the matter of a thought.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Eizik Hersh Berkowitz (Williamsburg). Kel Mistatter: R' Mordechai Shabsi Shiman (Boro Park). Shoshanas Yaakov: R' Nechemya Dov Heller (Williamsburg). They continued with songs in honor of the simcha. The Rebbe blessed over the cup.

Before Maariv, the Rebbe greeted HaGaon Rabbi Shmuel Binyomin Krausz shlit"a, president of Yeshivas Toras Chesed of London, who is currently visiting Kiryas Joel.
Maariv of Motzei Shabbos: R' Chaim Yedidya Fischer. After Havdalah, people went over to wish a good week. It ended at about 8:50.

At about 11:30, a siyum of writing the letters for the Sefer Torah being written by the holy mosad Reim in Kiryas Joel was held in the Rebbe's home. The Rebbe wrote in the letters, drank lechayim, and bestowed his holy blessings upon the directors of the mosad, R' Yaakov Yisroel Freund and R' Yisroel Henoch Krausz, and upon the entire assembled congregation.
