Shabbos, Parshas Vayeira — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before candle-lighting time, the Rebbe put the shtreimel on the chassan Yehuda, son of Chaim Hersh Kahana.

On Friday night at around 5:10, the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went up to daven Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon R' Yoel Eckstein shlit"a. They finished at around 6:40. An aufruf was held for the Kollel Williamsburg Tiferes Bochurim. The congregation then went over to wish a good Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:20, the Rebbe entered the tish in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the young Rabbi Yissachar Ber Teitelbaum, son of the son-in-law of the Rebbe, HaGaon Rabbi, the rav of the beis medrash Birkas Moshe shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with leading the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Elazar Halberstam shlit"a, grandson of the Bobov Rebbe shlit"a and of the HaGaon Av Beis Din of Boro Park shlit"a. Menucha V'Simcha: R' Eliezer Weiss.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the verse "V'ekchah pas lechem" and explained, in the manner of a derush, the sugya of chatzi shiur.

Shabbos Kodesh Day

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 9:20. Brachos and Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Isamar Tuvia Kaufman shlit"a. The Rebbe went up to daven Shacharis.

Hotzaah and Hachnasa of the Torah: R' Baruch Mordechai Markowitz. Pesukei Shema Yisroel: R' Mendel Eckstein.

Aliyos. Kohen: R' Chaim Avrohom Moskowitz – the Rebbe called the name in honor of the birth of his daughter, mazel tov. Levi: the chassan Yosef, son of Rabbi Shlomo Leib Gruber shlit"a. Shlishi: the chassan Yonason, son of Berel Gold – was showered with candies. Revii: the chassan Leipa, son of Rabbi Fishel Kaufman shlit"a – was showered with candies. The Rebbe entered the beis medrash for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at around 5:05. Mincha: R' Yechezkel Brach. Hotzaah and Hachnasa: R' Yosef Shlomo Markowitz. Kohen: Rabbi Hershel Kahana shlit"a (Boro Park). Levi: Rabbi Shlomo Leib Gruber shlit"a. Shlishi: R' Moshe Kahana (Boro Park). Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: Rabbi Yoel Weinberger shlit"a.

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored people with the zemiros. Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Shlomo Katz.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the verse "V'ekchah pas lechem" and explained that "pas lechem" refers to the Torah, as in "v'saadu libchem," meaning the service of the heart, which is prayer. Through Torah, which purifies a person's mouth, one can do teshuva with prayer for all four categories of atonement. Every person must reflect on where he stands with this matter, and make sure to engage in Torah before standing to daven, so that he will be worthy of praying.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Yitzchak Markowitz. Kel Mistater: R' Baruch Mordechai Markowitz. The Rebbe bentched over the cup and recited the Sheva Brachos.

Maariv of Motzei Shabbos: R' Pinchas Teichman. After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a good week.

At the conclusion, the Rebbe went down to the Heichal HaTorah, where the Motzei Shabbos learning takes place as part of the Avos U'Banim program – "V'shinantam levanecha." The Rebbe walked among the tables for an extended time and looked around with great satisfaction. They finished at around 7:20.
After Havdalah, a group of bochurim from Yeshiva Gedolah Bobov 45 of Boro Park, who had spent Shabbos b'tzeil hakodesh, entered the Rebbe's holy residence. The Rebbe asked them about their learning and bestowed his holy blessing.

At around 10:15 the Rebbe traveled to Monsey for the chanukas habayis of the new Beis Rochel building, "Binyan Eli Neustadt," together with a sheva brachos celebration for the chassan the bochur Akiva Yosef Neustadt, son of R' Eli Neustadt, the benefactor of the building.
The Rebbe arrived at the Beis Rochel building at around 10:40. The chairman, HaGaon R' Dovid Shlomo Laub shlit"a, called up the HaGaon Av Beis Din of Monsey shlit"a, who spoke on behalf of the administration of the mosdos. Rhymes were sung in honor of the occasion, and the distinguished benefactor, R' Eli, spoke and expressed his feelings, and recited the Shehecheyanu blessing with Hashem's name and kingship in honor of the chanukas habayis.
The Rebbe shlit"a drank a lechayim and warmly wished the benefactor, the chassan, the mechutanim and the entire assembly well. He conveyed words of Torah and expressed the joy of the renewal of the Beis Rochel building, spoke in praise of the distinguished benefactor, and in praise of our holy mosdos in Monsey, and concluded with abundant blessings.

After bentching the Rebbe recited the Sheva Brachos, and then stood up to dance. They finished at around 11:30. The Rebbe then traveled home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.

Friday, Erev Shabbos, Parshas Vayeira, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for a son born to R' Moshe Kahana, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Beis Medrash Imrei Noam in the Divrei Yoel neighborhood, together with the talmidim of Yeshiva Gedolah Esek HaTorah of Monsey, under the direction of HaRav R' Yisroel Mordechai Seidenfeld shlit"a.
Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Moshe Chaim Kahn.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place. The Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochur, the menahel, and the talmidim well, and then delivered a lengthy address, first praising the yeshiva, which has begun the zman with great success.
The Rebbe pointed out that the talmidim of the yeshiva are learning the sugyos of mikvaos, which is a topic of the very essence of Jewish life. He also spoke at length about his trip to the shechita in Uruguay and the visit to Argentina with the wonderful kehilla there, and explained the entire order of shechita, the aspects of kashrus of the meat, and the virtues and practicality of the mehudar slaughterhouse in Uruguay, and concluded with his holy blessings.

Thursday, Parshas Vayeira, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash.
Before davening, the following brissim took place:
A son born to R' Yoel Sachs, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
A son born to R' Moshe Berger (Monsey), where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochurim:
The son of Rabbi Moshe Horowitz shlit"a, son-in-law of HaGaon Rav of our kehilla in Boro Park shlit"a.
The twin sons of R' Shmuel Schonbrun.
The bochur Meir Yissachar HaKohen Kahn.
The bochur Chaim Hersh Farkash.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for shlishi, and recited Birkas HaGomel after returning from the trip to Argentina and Uruguay.

After davening, the entire congregation came to greet the Rebbe shlit"a, and a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the hall of the beis medrash.

In the afternoon, around 5:15, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:
R' Nissim Saal – R' Raphael David Gabra, in the Kinor David halls.
R' Yoel Bleier (Monsey) – R' Itamar Tuvia Weider, in the Beis Rachel Paradise halls.

Yechidus hours were from 8:00 until 11:25 at night, in the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Court.

During yechidus hours, the Gaon Hagadol, the Dayan and Moreh Tzedek shlit"a entered together with his son-in-law HaGaon Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, dayan of Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel Binyamin, on the occasion of the wedding of his daughter, mazel tov, which will take place IY"H next week on Tuesday, Parshas Chayei Sarah, in Kiryas Joel; the chosson is a grandson of the Toldos Aharon Rebbe shlit"a. The dayan shlit"a greeted the Rebbe shlit"a after his visit to Argentina and Uruguay. A pleasant conversation ensued about shechita, in which the Rebbe spoke at length with the dayan shlit"a about many details of shechita, and the Rebbe bestowed from his holy blessings.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim of the mechutanim R' Yoel Shimon Rubin (Williamsburg) – R' Yoel Goldstein.

The Rebbe davened Maariv around 11:25.

Report, Wednesday, Parshas Vayeira, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a - Trip to Visit the Shechita in the State of Uruguay

At 6:30 in the morning the Rebbe shlit"a traveled from the guesthouse to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

First, the Rebbe shlit"a went in to view the gigantic area of the plant at the packaging and was shown all of its sections. The Rebbe was tremendously impressed, both by the practical side and by all the parts that touch on the halacha of kashrus, which is carried out with the greatest measure of hiddur.

From there the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the bedikas kreisim (examination of the intestines), where the Rebbe and the rabbanim observed for a longer time how it is examined.

From there they went over to the shechita apparatus. The Rebbe examined the knives, which were perfectly smooth according to the high standards that the Rebbe shlit"a introduced. The Rebbe observed for a longer time the entire order of the shechita with all its stages, the double box where two animals enter, and watched the three shochtim and a bodek yavesh standing at the stand, with all the chumros and hiddurim that the Rebbe introduced for shechita of large animals for our holy kehilla.

Afterward the Rebbe went over to the sections of the examinations, the internal examination and the external examination, and then continued to the nikur cham (hot deveining). Everything was at the highest standard, b'siyata d'Shmaya.

It was already 10:45. After more than four hours of the Rebbe going around the entire plant with great physical exertion, the Rebbe left the place and returned to the guesthouse.

After a short break the Rebbe went back to the plant building and entered the offices, to the owner, and thanked him warmly and expressed his amazement at the full chumros and hiddurim that are made possible here. He said, "One has not yet seen such a successful plant where all kinds of hiddurim and chumros can be carried out so easily. It is so beautiful that I feel like coming back again, even though it is so far and with such effort." In addition, the Rebbe thanked him for his devotion in building an entire guesthouse complex for the shochtim, with beautiful bedrooms, magnificent facilities, and a beautiful beis medrash as well, which brings the shochtim and bodkim a rare sense of ease.

From there the Rebbe went up to the mikvah in the plant, and then davened Shacharis with some of the shochtim in the beis medrash of the guesthouse.

After davening the Rebbe said to the shochtim, "I did not believe what a mehudar operation takes place here, and I did not want to approve this place without it, since I know that I will have such a distinguished, upright staff of shochtim, bodkim and mashgichim." Afterward the shochtim went in to the Rebbe one by one.

Later the Rebbe shlit"a telephoned the Nirbator Rav shlit"a to thank him, and complimented him on the effort he invested in establishing such a mehudar system of shechita for the sake of Heaven and for glory.

In the afternoon at around 4:15 the Rebbe shlit"a davened Mincha.
After Mincha the Rebbe shlit"a bid a heartfelt farewell to all the shochtim.

From there they traveled to the local airport, a 45-minute drive, from where the private plane took off and flew for 25 minutes to Argentina.

At the airport in Argentina a fine crowd of community members was waiting, and the Rebbe received the community one by one. Afterward Maariv was davened.

After Maariv they boarded the plane, which took off at 10:48 local time.
During the first hours on the plane the Rebbe shlit"a engaged in Torah study. Afterward the Rebbe shlit"a discussed the entire order of shechita at length with the rabbanim shlit"a, and expressed his admiration at how beautiful and mehudar the entire plant was, and at the efforts that the Nirbator Rav shlit"a had already invested in that place in the past to raise the standard of kashrus.

Today, Thursday, at 7:08 in the morning the plane landed at JFK Airport, from where the Rebbe shlit"a traveled home to Kiryas Joel, arriving at 9:25.
