Sunday, Parshas Toldos — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for a baby boy born to R' Mordechai Shmuel Zilberstein, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

After davening, the Rebbe delivered the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 24, verse 5. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

The Rebbe davened Mincha at around 5:15 and Maariv at around 5:45, in his holy home.

In the evening at around 7:40, the Sardahely Rebbe shlit"a, who is staying in Kiryas Joel these days for the benefit of his yeshiva, paid a visit to the Rebbe in his holy home. A pleasant conversation ensued about yeshivos back home in Europe, and the Rebbe praised his yeshiva highly, which is renowned and praiseworthy. The Sardahely Rebbe shlit"a expressed his admiration for the city of Kiryas Yoel. The Rebbe honored him with a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessing upon him, and also upon the host, R' Akiva Hersh Klein, and then escorted him out to the street.

The yechidus hours were from 8:00 until 9:45 in the evening, in his holy home on Ihel Court.

During the yechidus hours, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Shmuel Shmelke Kahana shlit"a, the Rebbe of Przeworsk-Antwerp, paid a visit. The Rabbi shlit"a presented the Rebbe shlit"a with his sefer 'Nashim B'mai Zachyan,' and the Rebbe looked into it for a while, held a pleasant conversation about the sefer, and bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

Also entering the yechidus were the students of Yeshivas Makor Chaim of Flatbush. The Rebbe questioned them on their studies, and the bochurim went over to receive his holy blessing.

After the yechidus hours, the Rebbe went over to Beis Medrash Beirach Moshe for the bar mitzvah simcha of his grandson, the bar mitzvah bochur Yekusiel Yehuda ny"u, son of the son-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, rav of Beis Medrash Beirach Moshe shlit"a. Upon arrival, the Rebbe danced in place for a few minutes. After washing, the bar mitzvah bochur made a siyum on
the six orders of Mishnah, and after the siyum, the grandfather, HaGaon Av Beis Din of Volove shlit"a, said Kaddish. During the seudah, the son-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, rav of the beis medrash shlit"a, and the grandfather, HaGaon Av Beis Din of Volove shlit"a, spoke, and after the soup, the bar mitzvah bochur delivered the pshetl.
The Rebbe delivered words of Torah on the verse "And may G-d give you of the dew of heaven," explaining that one must have fear of Heaven before learning Torah, to learn Torah in purity and after learning, so that the Torah will endure for the future. He praised the bar mitzvah bochur, who completed the six orders of Mishnah, and wished that he be able to complete all of Shas and follow in the ways of his grandfather, the holy author of Yitev Lev zy"a, after whom he is named, and concluded with abundant blessings.
For bentching, the Rebbe honored the bar mitzvah bochur. It concluded at around 11:00.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Chayei Sarah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 5:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went up to daven Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaRav HaChassid R' Chaim Yitzchak Neulander (Yerushalayim). The davening ended at around 6:40. An appeal was made for Talmud Torah Kedushas Mulosham Zusha in Bnei Brak, may it be rebuilt. The congregation went over to wish a good Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:30 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the tish in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidei hamesivta, on a new arrangement to accommodate the hundreds of talmidei hamesivta; this week with the talmidim of the Divrei Yoel, Beirach Moshe, and Kedushas Yoel branches. He began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem, with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yechezkel Shraga T"B, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Lifting of the cup: HaGaon Rabbi Chaim, son of HaGaon R' Avrohom Meir Halberstam shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with leading the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon Rabbi Yechezkel Brach shlit"a (Yerushalayim). Menucha V'Simcha: HaRav HaChassid R' Elazar Danziger (Shikun Skvira).

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And Avraham was old, advanced in days," and explained, by way of derush, the sugya of "mitzvos lav l'hanos nitnu."

This week the Rebbe shlit"a related stories and episodes about the holy Rebbe R' Yissachar Dov of Belz zy"a, whose yahrzeit was on Shabbos Kodesh, 22 Cheshvan. Kah Ribon Olam: HaRav HaChassid R' Tzvi Ari Weiss (Boro Park). The new chasanim went over to take fruit. Ato Yom HaShvi'i: Rabbi Aharon Yekusiel Berkowitz shlit"a (Monsey). The tish ended at around 11:05.

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 9:20. Brachos and Pesukei D'Zimra: HaRav HaTzaddik R' Chaim Elazar Weiss shlit"a of Chmelnik, Monsey. The Rebbe went up to daven Shacharis.

Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: HaRav HaChassid R' Michel Freund (Williamsburg).

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And Avraham was old, advanced in days," and explained that a person must strengthen himself in emunah in Hashem, both when he sees it and when he does not see it, and not think, when he is successful, that it is his own wisdom and strength, but rather know that everything is the power and might of the Holy Creator, both things that are beyond nature and things that are clothed in nature.

Yedid Nefesh: HaGaon Rabbi Meir Halberstam shlit"a, Rav of the Kshanov beis medrash and moreh tzedek in our holy kehilla in Williamsburg. Maariv on Motzei Shabbos: HaRav HaChassid R' Yisroel Yitzchak Heimann (Antwerp). After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a good week. The davening ended at around 7:15.

On Motzei Shabbos, a Day of Joy

On Motzei Shabbos after Havdalah, a group of bochurim, talmidim of Yeshiva Gedolah Bobov 45 in Boro Park, who had spent Shabbos b'tzeil hakodesh, entered the Rebbe's holy residence. The Rebbe asked them about their learning and bestowed his holy blessing upon them.

At around 9:00 the Rebbe went to the home of the distinguished askan R' Yehuda Weiss on the occasion of the wedding of his daughter, mazel tov. A pleasant conversation took place with the esteemed grandfathers, HaRav HaTzaddik R' Chaim Elazar Weiss shlit"a of Chmelnik, and HaRav HaTzaddik R' Berel Glanz shlit"a of Bardiov, about the stringencies of shechita in Uruguay and many other slaughterhouses, where our holy kehilla has been conducting shechita for the past fifty years. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the chasan, the mechutanim, the grandfathers, and the whole family well.

From there the Rebbe went to the home of HaGaon Rabbi Wolf Aharon Teller shlit"a, director of Mivtzar HaKollelim in Kiryas Joel, on the occasion of a siyum HaShas. A pleasant conversation took place about the holy Rebbe R' Yissachar Dov of Belz zy"a, whose yahrzeit was on Shabbos Kodesh. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished HaGaon Rabbi Wolf Aharon shlit"a and the whole family well.

Afterwards the Rebbe went home to his holy residence, where an appointment ceremony took place. The Rebbe shlit"a appointed HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Oppenheim shlit"a, director of Yeshiva Ketana Derech HaTorah, as dayan of the beis medrash of our holy kehilla in the Zera Kodesh neighborhood. Present were HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, Rav of the Divrei Chaim neighborhood, HaRav HaChassid R' Dovid Eckstein of Eretz Yisroel, the members of the committee for expanding the city's borders, and many residents of the neighborhood. A pleasant conversation took place about the expansion of the holy boundaries and the many activities of the committee for expanding the city's borders in all the neighborhoods of Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly wished well to HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Oppenheim shlit"a, to HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, and to the residents, askanim, and gabbaim of the beis medrash. He delivered a few holy words and bestowed his holy blessing upon the new dayan of the beis medrash, that he be able to elevate the power of Torah and tefillah in the beis medrash, and concluded with abundant blessings to all the residents of the neighborhood.
Several niggunim were sung, and the askanim and gabbaim of the beis medrash went over to receive the holy blessing.

At around 10:30 the Rebbe went to the Noam Elimelech beis medrash on Lizhensk for the simcha of a hachnasas sefer Torah, donated by R' Yaakov Epstein. The Rebbe took the sefer Torah and danced with holy joy, then recited Ledovid Mizmor as is customary, and bestowed his holy blessing.

Thursday, Parshas Chayei Sarah — "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the heichal of the Mesivta, Barach Moshe branch. During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for Shlishi. After davening, he learned a sugya at a shiur in the yeshiva.

In the afternoon at around 3:45, the Rebbe went to the Kiryas Joel cemetery for the levaya of HaGaon Rabbi Aharon Zev Malik z"l, Av Beis Din of Sambor.

At around 5:15, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppahs of the following mechutanim:
R' Lipa Epstein (Montreal) — R' Fishel Freund, in the halls of Kinor David.
R' Yaakov Teller (Williamsburg) — R' Yoel Friedman, in the halls of Beis Rachel Paradise.

At around 8:00, the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy home on Ohel Court.
Afterwards, there were yechidus hours for the kehilla until 11:30 at night.

At around 10:15, the Rebbe went down to the Tenaim halls in his holy home, where a public examination was held by "Chaburas Talmudo B'yado" of the yeshivos ketanos of our holy mosdos from across greater New York. Dozens of bochurim sat arranged in rows around the hall, and HaRav R' Avrohom Schwartz shlit"a of Eretz Yisroel and HaRav R' Shlomo Shabsai Kestenbaum shlit"a, one of the rabbanim of our kehilla in Williamsburg, tested the bochurim by heart on dozens of masechtos of Shas. Several times the Rebbe took the microphone and posed questions from throughout Shas, to which the bochurim responded with tremendous clarity. The Rebbe watched with great nachas and enjoyment. Afterwards, the Rebbe drank a lechayim and extended blessings to the entire assembly, and delivered brief words of Torah and blessing about the simcha, that so many bochurim can stand to be tested by heart on hundreds of blatt of Gemara, and he bestowed abundant blessings. It concluded at around 10:45, and the Rebbe went back upstairs to continue the yechidus hours.
On his way out, the Rebbe warmly extended blessings to the patron of the chaburah, R' Yitzchok Schwartz of Williamsburg.

After the yechidus hours, the Rebbe went to the halls of Keren Veyoel Moshe for the Sheva Brachos simcha hosted by HaGaon HaGadol, the Dayan and Moreh Tzedek shlit"a, in honor of the marriage of his granddaughter, mazel tov. The kallah is the daughter of his son-in-law HaGaon R' Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, Dayan and Moreh Tzedek of Beis Shmuel Binyamin beis medrash; the choson is the son of HaRav R' Eli Ginsburg shlit"a, son of the Chust Rebbe shlit"a, and son-in-law of the Toldos Aharon Rebbe shlit"a.
Upon arriving at around 12:35, the Rebbe warmly greeted the distinguished grandfathers, the Rebbes shlit"a. A lovely conversation ensued for a lengthy time about stories of the Blazov dynasty, and the Dayan shlit"a raised various interesting questions in the halachos of Shabbos. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and extended blessings to the choson, the mechutanim, the distinguished grandfathers, and the entire assembly, and then set out in a mitzvah dance and a special dance with the choson and with the Toldos Aharon Rebbe shlit"a. It concluded at around 12:15.
