The First Night of Chanukah — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 6:00 in his holy home. Before Maariv, R' Berel Stein lit the menorah.

At around 9:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a large crowd, "in the multitude of people is the glory of the King." The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterwards, the Rebbe recited the zemiros, and inspiring melodies were sung, and the choir sang the piyutim as is customary.

Afterwards, the Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Dvar Kodesh of Torah discourse and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos of "kivsah zakuk lah," and then continued in the manner of aggadah, that the avodah of the tzaddikim is not to create wealth, but to take the wealth and money that lies in foreign places among the nations of the world and bring it to Klal Yisroel. This was the miracle of Chanukah, where the Kohanim caused the oil from other places to come into the menorah, and so it was sufficient for eight days. This is also the reason why Birkas Kohanim is recited on Chanukah, which brings abundance to Klal Yisroel. The Rebbe added that "lehadlik ner Chanukah" has the same numerical value as "HaZan es HaKol," and blessed the entire congregation with great abundance and many blessings.

After the Dvar Kodesh, the singing of melodies continued. The Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings. It concluded at around 10:35.

Tuesday, Parshas Mikeitz — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Chaim Hersh Mittelman, at which the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Etz Chaim branch, Shiur Gimmel. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Zalman Eliezer, son of R' Avrohom Eckstein.

After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 24, verse 1. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Heichal of the beis medrash.

In the afternoon at around 5:15, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the Rebbe traveled to Williamsburg for the weekly reception hours.
The reception hours in Kiryas Joel ran from 8:15 until 12:15 at night, in his holy home on Hooper St.

During the reception hours, a signing of documents took place, where R' Shlomo Yosef Bash purchased a classroom in the new building of the Talmud Torah in the Kiryas Joel mosdos. The Rebbe signed the documents together with the donor and bestowed his holy blessing upon the donor and his family.

A meeting was also held with the rabbonim and sofrim of the Lishkas HaHoraah for Sta"m matters under the auspices of our holy kehilla in Williamsburg, headed by HaGaon Rabbi Ezra Moshe Kaira shlit"a, moreh tzedek in our holy kehilla and chairman for Sta"m matters, HaGaon Rabbi Hersh Leib Bernstein shlit"a, dayan and moreh tzedek of our beis medrash Beis Menachem Tzvi and chairman of the Kashrus Committee of Kiryas Joel, HaGaon Rabbi Naftali Hirtzka Zwebel shlit"a, Rosh Av Beis Din of Williamsburg, and HaGaon Rabbi Yisroel Ber Stein shlit"a, dayan and moreh tzedek of Beis Medrash Ohr Yisroel Elimelech, together with the more than 20 new sofrim who studied in the Lishkos HaHoraah for Sofrus matters in Williamsburg. They discussed at length various solutions regarding the problems of invalid mezuzos, among other things, the strict screening of special sofrim whom the Lishkas HaSta"m accepted solely to write mezuzos sold through the Lishkas HaSta"m. The Rebbe delivered words of guidance and chizuk to the sofrim, and all the new sofrim passed before him, and the Rebbe examined each one's handwriting individually and bestowed his holy blessing.

There was also a brief meeting with the education committee of Beis Rachel of our holy mosdos in Williamsburg regarding the new order of tznius dress that will be introduced for the coming school year, IY"H.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:10 and then continued receiving the public.

Monday, Parshas Miketz — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yoel Weltz, son of the administrator of our holy mosdos in Williamsburg.

During the Torah reading, the Rebbe went up for hagbah. After davening, he recited the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 24, verse 1. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

At around 3:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

After Mincha, the Rebbe went down to the hall in his holy home on Zanz Street for the Sheva Brachos simcha in our holy courts, arranged by the Rebbe shlit"a for the members of the family. Invited were the singers of our holy kehilla from Kiryas Joel and Williamsburg, who lead the niggunim at the gatherings and occasions b'tzeil hakodesh, the singers who sing in the Yamim Noraim and Chanukah choir, and the bochurim zimrim who lead the niggunim at the Friday night seudah every week.
During the seudah, many new and old songs and praises were sung beautifully by the singers.
Before the bentching, when bentching took place, the Rebbe honored the Chadvan HaGaon Rav of the beis medrash Ohel Feiga shlit"a, with the first brachos: HaGaon Rav of the beis medrash Beis Baruch shlit"a, and with the final bracha: the Chadvan HaGaon Rav of the beis medrash Kol Eliyahu shlit"a.

Afterwards the singing continued, and the Rebbe spoke words of Torah and expressed the greatness of a simcha shel mitzvah and praised the singers who bring a simcha shel mitzvah to other Jews. He continued about the avodah of niggun by our holy Rebbes zy"a of Sighet and Zanz, and told several stories about the importance of pure, holy niggunim. He gave guidance about the obligation upon the singers to make sure to sing only pure niggunim, since a niggun connects to the composer of the niggun. He concluded with abundant brachos to the entire assembly.

Afterwards the singing of songs of thanks continued, and the Rebbe stood up and danced. It ended at around 6:30.

Reception hours (kabbalas kahal) were from 8:00 until 12:30 at night, in his holy home on Ohel Street.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim for the following mechutanim:
- R' Yekusiel Yuda Malach - R' Avrohom Kalman Eliezer Masri.
- R' Naftali Hirtzka Friedman shlit"a - R' Chananya Goldberger shlit"a.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:40 and then continued receiving the public.

Sunday, Parshas Miketz - 21 Kislev, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe went for his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

In the afternoon at around 4:50, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

At around 5:40, the Rebbe arrived at the Heichal HaMesivta, Beirach Moshe branch, for the 21 Kislev Hoda'ah gathering together with the talmidei haMesivta. Upon arrival, the Rebbe danced on the spot for an extended time to "Chasdei Hashem" and other songs of thanksgiving. Afterwards, the guest of honor, HaGaon R' Elchanan Zev Yosef Friedman shlit"a, continued with his address, and they sang more songs of thanksgiving.
The Rebbe made a lechayim and extended blessings to the directors and all the talmidim of the yeshiva. He delivered holy words on the verse "Vayeshev Yaakov b'eretz megurei aviv," explaining in the manner of derush that Yosef HaTzaddik brought about a path of salvation for all the tzaddikim throughout the generations, among them the holy Rebbe, Baal HaNes zy"a. The Rebbe spoke about the bond that the holy Rebbe zy"a has with the talmidim of the yeshiva, and what this demands of them, to walk in his ways. The Rebbe spoke at length with guidance to walk in his ways, and he especially emphasized that every bochur should keep in mind, when arranging a shidduch, to make sure that his father is not made to spend extra money on wedding expenses and all matters, particularly regarding shtreimlach. He praised the great and important takanah of buying the well-known "Kesser Shtreimel," and concluded with his holy blessing.

Afterwards, they continued with songs of thanksgiving, and the Rebbe stood up and danced for an extended time. It ended at around 6:50.

Yechidus hours at the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Court were from 8:30 until 11:30 at night.

During the yechidus hours, the distinguished philanthropist R' Moshe Yitzchak Landau, builder and founder of the new Beis Medrash Beirach Moshe of our holy kehilla in the Twin neighborhood in Monsey, entered together with the other members of the building fund committee of the beis medrash. The philanthropist R' Moshe Yitzchak showed the Rebbe the permits that were received and reviewed the further plans for the construction work, and the Rebbe bestowed from his holy blessing.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim of the following mechutanim:
- R' Hershel Zabel - R' Yoel Berish Lieberman.
- R' Meir Dovid Heilbrun - R' Yoel Berish Landau.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:30.

After Maariv, at around 11:50, the Rebbe went over to Beis Medrash Beis Shmuel in the Divrei Chaim neighborhood for the Sheva Brachos celebration arranged by the mispallelim of the beis medrash in honor of the Rebbe shlit"a and HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, rav of the beis medrash.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and extended blessings to the chosson, the mechutanim, and the entire gathering. At bentching, the Rebbe honored the HaGaon, rav of the beis medrash shlit"a, and afterwards the Rebbe recited the Sheva Brachos and stood up to dance together with the chosson and all the distinguished guests. It ended at around 12:15, and the Rebbe returned to his holy home.
