Wednesday, Parshas Shmini — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- the son of Rabbi Shalom Yechezkel Shraga Rubin shlit"a.
- the bochur Avrohom Feigel.
- the bochur Yoel son of Shalom Goldberger.
- the bochur Yoel Menachem Simon.

The Rebbe lit candles in honor of the holy hilula of the Zanzer Rav zy"a, and after davening a lechayim gathering was held in the Polish hall of the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Songs of inspiration were sung, and with "Michtam L'Dovid" the Rebbe honored HaRav Leibish Rubin shlit"a (of Boro Park).
The Rebbe drank lechayim and blessed the bar mitzvah bochurim and the entire gathering, and related stories and incidents about the baal hahilula zy"a for an extended time.

At around 8:30 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Ohel Street.
Afterwards there were private audiences until 12:10 at night in his holy home.

At around 10:00 the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim:
- R' Moshe Yuda son of Mendel Hirsch - R' Shmuel Aharon Singer.
- R' Moshe Berish Wertzberger - R' Moshe Yuda Feder.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:10. The Rebbe lit 5 candles and went to the amud in honor of the holy hilula of his father, the holy Rebbe zy"a.

Tuesday, Parshas Shmini — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol.

At around 6:45 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Zanz Street.

In the evening the Rebbe paid a shiva call to R' Aharon Yaakov Gottlieb, who is sitting shiva for his son a"h.
Afterwards the Rebbe traveled to Williamsburg for the audiences.

The private audiences were from 8:40 until 12:30 at night, in his holy home on Hughes St.

During the audiences, the administration of our beis medrash on 18th Avenue in Boro Park entered and showed the Rebbe the sketches and plans of the new beis medrash building, which is in the midst of its construction phases. The Rebbe inquired about all the details and bestowed his holy blessing.

Also entering were the askanim of "Shabbos Malkesa," which will be held this coming Shabbos Parshas Tazria-Metzora for the hundreds of widows of our community, headed by the Rebbetzin tchiya, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 10:30. Before Maariv the Rebbe lit 5 candles in honor of the holy hilula of his grandfather, the holy Divrei Chaim zy"a, and after Maariv he continued receiving the public.

Monday, Isru Chag of Pesach — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Aharon Berish Herskowitz, at which the Rebbe was sandek.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- the bochur Yekusiel Yitzchak Frankel.
- the bochur Yoel Alter Goldberger.
- the bochur Yisroel Ber Lebowitz.
- the bochur Avrohom Leib Wechter.
- the bochur Avrohom Shimon Offenheim.

During the Torah reading the Rebbe went up for hagbah, and after davening a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in Chadar Avrohom Yuda.

After Shacharis, the Rebbe paid a shiva call to R' Mordechai son of R' Shalom Yitzchak Tzvi Schorr, who is sitting shiva for his wife a"h.

At around 7:45 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Ohel Street. Afterwards, there were private audiences (zmanei kniso) until around 12:00 at night in his holy home.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 9:30 and then continued receiving the public.

At around 10:30 the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim, R' Pinchas Zelig Perlmutter and R' Yoel Gabbai.

During the audiences, members and askanim of the "Committee for Expanding the Borders of Kiryas Joel" entered together with the heads and askanim of our batei medrash from all the neighborhoods of greater Kiryas Joel, to receive the Rebbe's blessing in connection with the large campaign for the expansion of the holy borders in all the neighborhoods. The Rebbe inquired about all the details for an extended time and bestowed his holy blessing.

The Last Night of Pesach – 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At about 9:05 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash. Maariv: R' Yoel Eckstein, son of R' Moshe. They finished at about 9:35. Afterwards the congregation went over to wish a good Yom Tov, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At about 12:35 the Rebbe entered the pure table in the main beis medrash on the north side. Lifting of the cup: HaGaon Rabbi Dovid Yitzchak Wertzberger shlit"a, dayan of the Divrei Yoel beis medrash.

After the fish, the Rebbe dipped the matzah into the horseradish prepared by R' Pinchas Elimelech Weiss, and wished "L'chaim." In the soup there were kneidlach, as is the custom.

Farfel was brought in, brought by the gabbai R' Asher Yeshaya Horowitz, and a matzah kugel brought by R' Pinchas Elimelech Weiss.

For the zemiros the Rebbe honored HaGaon Rabbi Dovid Yitzchak Wertzberger shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash "HaYam Ra'ah Vayanos" and explained it in the manner of a drush on the topic of the reward for a mitzvah in this world.

Matzah cremzlach were brought in, brought by R' Yechezkel Frankel, and the Rebbe distributed them to the entire congregation for an extended time.

The Last Day of Pesach

The Rebbe entered for Shacharis at about 10:50. Before davening, the Rebbe lit the yizkor candles at the amud.

At the midday tish in his holy residence, R' Yisroel Henoch Kraus brought over meat from the sheep with which the Rebbe fulfilled the mitzvah of pidyon peter chamor, through the Kohen who redeemed, the Gaon, Av Beis Din of Nitra, shlit"a.

For the zemiros the Rebbe honored his grandson HaGaon Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum shlit"a, rav of the Beis Menachem Zev beis medrash. Birkas Hamazon: the Rebbe's son-in-law, the Gaon, rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a.

Mincha and the Closing of the Yom Tov

The Rebbe entered the beis medrash at about 7:55. Mincha: R' Yaakov Yosef Philipp.

After Mincha the Rebbe went up to the place of the pure table for the closing of the Yom Tov, and danced for several minutes.
Yom Tov melodies were sung; the shamash R' Yoel Kaufman poured l'chaim for the Rebbe, and the Rebbe wished l'chaim to the chevra kadisha and to the entire congregation.
Fruits and Pesach foods were brought in, and they continued with melodies of longing for the coming of Mashiach. The Rebbe stood up and danced with holy fire to the tune of "Achakeh Lo" for an extended time with great fervor.

After the time arrived, the Rebbe recited Baruch HaMavdil and delivered words of holiness over the microphone. The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Vayosha Hashem bayom hahu" and explained that the Jewish children said shirah twice: once for the miracle itself, and a second time when they saw the holy forefathers singing shirah. That to this day Jews, after such a long exile, can still celebrate a Pesach with uplifted spirit is a source of nachas ruach for the holy forefathers in Gan Eden. This is a joy for us, and we join their joy with dances of joy. Matzah brings all kinds of salvation, material and spiritual, for the entire year. He concluded with abundant blessings.

Afterwards the Rebbe stood up and danced Chasal Siddur Pesach with deveikus and elevation for an extended time, and then recited "L'shanah Haba'ah B'Yerushalayim" three times with fiery enthusiasm.

The Rebbe went to the amud for Maariv in honor of the holy hilula this week of his father, the Rebbe zy"a. After Havdalah the Rebbe wished the entire congregation a good week and a healthy summer, and the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and music. They finished at about 10:15.

Upon arriving home at his holy residence, the Rebbe bought back the chametz from the non-Jew.

Shabbos, Shvi'i shel Pesach, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe entered for Shacharis at around 10:55, and proceeded to Pesukei D'zimra, Shacharis and Hallel, and led Hallel HaGadol, the Nishmas prayer and the Shirah verse by verse with great fervor.

Removing and returning the Torah: HaGaon R' Yosef Moshe Stauber shlit"a, a rav, and HaGaon R' Dovid Greenfeld shlit"a, a rav. Verses of Shema Yisroel: HaGaon Rabbi Simcha Sholom Steinberger shlit"a, rav of the Divrei Chaim beis medrash.

The Rebbe was the baal korei and read with great fervor and holy fire.

"You shall spread out to the right and to the left!"

For Mussaf the Rebbe approached the amud in honor of the hilula kadisha of his father, the holy Rebbe, the Beirach Moshe zy"a, this Thursday, 26 Nissan. Leading Kah Keili: R' Yitzchak Ehrenfeld. Opening Anim Zemiros: R' Yitzchak Stauber. They concluded at around 3:05.

After davening, a bris was held for the newborn son of R' Avrohom Frankel, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

At the afternoon meal at his holy home, the Rebbe honored his grandson, the bochur Yitzchak Eizik Teitelbaum ny"u, son of the rav of the Beis Boruch beis medrash shlit"a, with the zemiros, and the rav of the Beis Boruch beis medrash shlit"a with Birkas Hamazon.

At around 7:45 the Rebbe entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the Midrash, "When Yisroel entered the sea, Har HaMoriah was uprooted from its place," and explained that with the strength of the holy Avos, who did not ask any questions on Hashem's conduct, the sea split, and to this very day good blessings descend upon Jewish children.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Moshe Meir Teitelbaum. Keil Mistateir: R' Yehoshua Wertzberger. The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup. They concluded at around 8:50, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

The Final Days of Yom Tov Pesach, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday, Erev Shabbos, the night of the seventh day of Pesach, at around 8:30 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis, approached the amud for Mincha, and began Hodu with fiery enthusiasm. Kabbalas Shabbos and Maariv: HaGaon R' Dovid Leib Krois shlit"a. They finished at around 9:55. The congregation went over to wish a good Shabbos and a good Yom Tov, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 12:35 the Rebbe entered the pure table in the main beis medrash, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with emotion and sweetness, until "Melech Tamim Darko," and began Eishes Chayil. Raising of the cup (Hagbahas HaKos): the Av Beis Din and Rav of the Beis Medrash Ohel Feiga, HaGaon HaTzaddik shlit"a.
At the tish in the Mishkan, they sang at length in song and melody in honor of Shabbos and Yom Tov.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: R' Eizik Hersh Berkowitz (of Williamsburg). Menucha V'Simcha: R' Yitzchak Eizik Stein. The Maariv piyut: Rabbi Yaakov Hersh Friedman shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse "And Hashem saved on that day," explaining that with the power of complete emunah, during the splitting of the Yam Suf, the Jewish children became children of Hashem and a sukkah of freedom. Every year on the seventh day of Pesach the gates of heaven are opened and a new shefa is renewed in "And they believed in Hashem and in Moshe His servant," the emunah in Hashem and the emunah in tzaddikim, and a radiance descends upon Klal Yisroel in all matters.

They continued with songs of praise, and at 2:00 the Rebbe stood up to dance the shira and danced with fiery enthusiasm for several minutes.

The Shabbos foods were then brought in.

After the fruits, a Sholom Zachor took place at R' Avrohom Frankel's home. "Az B'Yom HaShevii": Rabbi Chaim Meir Stein shlit"a, grandson of the Vizhnitz Yerushalayim Rebbe shlit"a. They finished at around 2:20.

Friday, 4th day of Chol Hamoed Pesach, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before Shacharis, a bris of a newborn son took place for R' Elikim Yuda Greenwald, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe entered for Shacharis at around 10:15. Baal tefillah: HaGaon R' Yitzchak Yaakov Rosenfeld shlit"a. The Rebbe approached the amud for Hallel.

At around 1:45 the Rebbe went over to the courtyard of R' Moshe Goldstein and R' Yisroel Henoch Kraus, where the ceremony of shechitas hasseh took place, with which the Rebbe redeemed the second donkey, for the kohen HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Binyamin Strasser shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Nitra, in Boro Park. Upon arrival, a conversation on matters of shechita developed together with HaGaon R' Yoel Yitzchak Stern shlit"a, dayan of the Dinov beis medrash in Kiryas Joel, and the Rebbe expressed with emotion the privilege he had to fulfill such a great mitzvah. The Rebbe inspected the chalaf, and the shochet, R' Avrohom Shmuel Schwartz, slaughtered the sheep. It was checked and, Baruch Hashem, came out perfectly kosher, and the Rebbe said that they should still try to send meat to the kohen, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Nitra in Boro Park shlit"a, for Yom Tov. Afterwards, the Rebbe wished a mazel tov to R' Moshe Goldstein and his son-in-law R' Yisroel Henoch Kraus, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

Thursday, the third day of Chol HaMoed Pesach — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe entered for Shacharis at around 10:15. The baal tefillah was R' Yoel Bar'a Hirsch. The Rebbe approached the amud for Hallel.

After Shacharis, a bris was held for the newborn son of R' Yaakov Moshe Rubinstein, in the home of his father, R' Aharon Dovid, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

At around 3:40 the Rebbe arrived at the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the historic, uplifting gathering of the mitzvah of 'Pidyon Peter Chamor', in the presence of thousands upon thousands of members of our community.

First, the Rebbe entered his private room, where the kohen who would perform the redemption, the Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a, had come for a Yom Tov visit. A pleasant conversation ensued regarding the laws of pidyon peter chamor and matters of Yom Tov Pesach, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

Afterwards the Rebbe entered the main sanctuary of the beis medrash, greeted the rabbonim shlit"a, and broke out into a fiery, joyous dance in the center of the floor for several minutes. For an extended time they sang melodies of yearning and longing for the coming of Moshiach.
The chairman of the gathering, HaGaon R' Shlomo Shabsai Kestenbaum shlit"a, one of the rabbonim of our holy community, continued by presenting the order of the gathering, the pidyon, and its halachos.
At around 4:20, the second kohen who would perform the redemption, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Binyon Strasser shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Nitra, arrived at the gathering, and the Rebbe greeted him warmly and honored him to speak. He spoke of the greatness of fulfilling the mitzvah of pidyon peter chamor, thanked the Rebbe shlit"a for honoring him to serve as the kohen, continued with recollections of the holy Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, and concluded with warm blessings for the Rebbe shlit"a and for the entire assembly. The singing of Jewish melodies about the coming of Moshiach continued, led by R' Mordechai Wolf Landau.
At around 5:00, the kohen, the Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a, arrived at the gathering, and the Rebbe greeted him warmly.
The Rebbe drank a l'chaim, wished l'chaim to the rabbonim HaGeonim shlit"a and the entire assembly, and then immediately delivered words of Torah. At the start of his address, the Rebbe warmly greeted the two distinguished kohanim shlit"a and wished them abundant blessings. The Rebbe mentioned the joy that on this very day, the third day of Chol HaMoed Pesach in the year 5728, they merited to fulfill the first part of the verse that was read today, 'And every firstborn of your sons you shall redeem', at the pidyon haben of his firstborn son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a; and today they are fulfilling the second part, 'And every firstborn donkey you shall redeem with a lamb'. They hope that soon they will be able to fulfill the end of the verse, 'And none shall appear before Me empty-handed'. The Rebbe discussed all the halachos of peter chamor and the various questions that arose during the period since the project began, particularly regarding fulfilling the mitzvah twice. The Rebbe continued with a lengthy discourse of aggadic teachings regarding peter chamor, explaining it in several ways, combined with guidance, and spoke fiery words about 'You have chosen us from among all the nations': if the donkey has even a small partnership with a gentile, it is no longer holy and one cannot perform a pidyon peter chamor. One must remain entirely separate from the gentiles and not imitate them in anything, so that there be a complete separation between Israel and the nations. In this merit, we will merit the coming of Moshiach. The Rebbe concluded with warm, holy blessings for the entire assembly.

The two donkeys and the two lambs were brought in, regally adorned in honor of the mitzvah as is customary, and were placed on a special platform in front of the main bimah.

The singing of melodies of inspiration continued, and the badchan of the King, R' Mordechai Dovid Esterreicher, sang special warm rhymes in honor of the gathering.

At around 6:15 the first pidyon peter chamor began. First the Rebbe acquired the lamb from R' Meir Hirsch through kinyan kesef and kinyan hagbaha, then went out to his private room and put on a new bekitshe for the bracha of Shehecheyanu.
After a few minutes the Rebbe returned and recited the Leshem Yichud with holy emotion. He took the lamb and, with holy fervor, recited the bracha 'Asher kidshanu b'mitzvosav v'tzivanu al pidyon peter chamor', continued with the text 'Hareini mafrish teleh', recited the bracha of Shehecheyanu in a voice hewing flames of fire, and handed the lamb to the kohen, the Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a. Then he also redeemed the donkey with silver coins, in order to satisfy all opinions in case the lamb turns out to be a treifah after shechita. R' Moshe Goldstein was honored to hand the money to the Rebbe shlit"a, and the Rebbe acquired it and handed it to the kohen.
The kohen, the Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a, then recited the bracha of Borei Pri HaGafen over a cup of wine and wished the Rebbe shlit"a l'chaim, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him. The Rebbe then broke into fiery, holy dancing, with flames of fire and the joy of a mitzvah, for an extended time.

Afterwards, the Rebbe honored the Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a to ascend and bless the assembly with Birkas Kohanim. The Sereda'hely Rebbe shlit"a spoke brief words of blessing, wished the Rebbe shlit"a abundant blessings, blessed the entire assembly with Birkas Kohanim, and concluded that the Rebbe should soon merit to go out to greet Moshiach Tzidkeinu and be able to fulfill all twenty-four matnos kehunah.

'As he did the first time, so he did the second': the Rebbe then acquired the second lamb from R' Elazar Kleinberger for the second pidyon peter chamor through kinyan kesef and kinyan hagbaha. Then the Rebbe went out to his private room to change into a new bekitshe for the second Shehecheyanu, and after a short pause, in accordance with the ruling of the Dayan shlit"a, between the two pidyonos peter chamor, the Rebbe returned and recited the Leshem Yichud. HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Nitra shlit"a, asked that the Rebbe shlit"a include him in the bracha of Shehecheyanu, and the Rebbe then recited the bracha, said the text of the pidyon, and recited Shehecheyanu with fiery fervor. He handed the lamb to the second kohen, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Nitra shlit"a, and then also redeemed the donkey with silver coins. R' Moshe Aharon Kestenbaum was honored to hand the money to the Rebbe shlit"a, and the Rebbe acquired it and then handed it to the kohen.
The kohen, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Nitra shlit"a, then recited Borei Pri HaGafen over a cup of wine and wished the Rebbe shlit"a l'chaim, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him. The Rebbe then honored him to ascend and bless the assembly with Birkas Kohanim. He ascended, spoke of the greatness of Birkas Kohanim and its holy influence and segulah, and blessed the entire assembly with Birkas Kohanim, along with abundant blessings for the Rebbe shlit"a.

The joyous singing continued and the Rebbe stood up and danced for an extended time, from the emotions of his heart. At the conclusion, the Rebbe wished the entire assembly 'a gut mo'ed' and blessed that the mitzvah should bring everyone all good things always.

On his way out, the Rebbe expressed great thanks to the distinguished askanim who helped make it possible to fulfill this rare mitzvah, particularly HaGaon R' Baruch Stern shlit"a and HaGaon R' Shlomo Shabsai Kestenbaum shlit"a, who worked out the entire order of the gathering and pidyon in all its details, and the askanim R' Yoel Weiss and R' Moshe Yosef Friedlander, who arranged all the technical aspects of the gathering, and all the other askanim. The gathering concluded at around 7:00 and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence, where the Rebbe davened Mincha.

After Mincha, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Nitra shlit"a, came for a Yom Tov visit to the Rebbe in his holy home. A pleasant conversation ensued regarding matters of Yom Tov Pesach, and the Rebbe gave him his new sefer Lev Aharon Moadim – Pesach, bestowed his holy blessing, and accompanied him out to the street.

At around 8:15 the Rebbe washed for a seudas mitzvah in honor of the mitzvah of pidyon peter chamor together with his family.

After the seudah, at around 10:30, the Rebbe davened Maariv.

After Maariv, the Shinover Rebbe shlit"a came for a Yom Tov visit. A pleasant conversation ensued regarding chumros on Pesach, particularly among the tzaddikim of the Tzanz and Shinova dynasties. The Shinover Rebbe shlit"a gave the Rebbe shlit"a the sefer Imrei Menachem by his father, the Shinover Rebbe zt"l, and the Rebbe gave him his new sefer Lev Aharon Moadim – Pesach, and bestowed his holy blessing.
