The holy journey of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a to Eretz Yisroel - Shabbos Kodesh in the holy place of Meron

Motzei Shabbos Chayei Sarah - Sunday, Parshas Toldos

At around 9:00 the Rebbe went over to the Beis Medrash Yismach Moshe in the Beirach Moshe neighborhood for the bar mitzvah simcha of a great-grandson, the bochur Yosef Rokeach ny"u, son of HaGaon R' Chaim Yaakov shlit"a, Rav of Beis Medrash Kol Eliyahu, and grandson of the HaGaon, Rav of Beis Medrash Yismach Moshe shlit"a.
Songs of simcha were sung, and the Rebbe drank l'chaim and warmly blessed the bar mitzvah bochur, his father, the HaGaon, Rav of Beis Medrash Kol Eliyahu shlit"a, his grandfather, the HaGaon, Rav of Beis Medrash Yismach Moshe shlit"a, and the entire assembly.
Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song, "Ki Malachav."

The Rebbe immediately set out on the way to Newark Airport, from where the Rebbe's flight took off at around 12:00 on the way to Athens, Greece, where the Rebbe will stay for a short stopover until Monday afternoon, when the Rebbe will continue the journey on a private flight to Eretz Yisroel, on the elevated holy journey.

Upon arriving on the plane, the Rebbe occupied himself for an extended time with Torah study on the mitzvos that apply in Eretz Yisroel, such as separating terumos and maasros and the like. Afterwards, the Rebbe was handed the Kovetz Shaashuei Oraisa with the hundreds of answers from the learners of the Yesodei HaTorah chaburos to the question that the Rebbe shlit"a left over at his general shiur at the historic siyum of half of Shas, this past Parshas Lech Lecha. The Rebbe reviewed it for an extended time with great nachas.

At around 4:00 in the morning (New York time) the Rebbe davened Shacharis on the plane. The baal tefillah was HaRav HaTzaddik R' Menachem Mendel Hager shlit"a, son of the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe shlit"a, who is in the year of mourning for his mother, the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbetzin a"h. After davening, R' Mendel shlit"a conveyed greetings from his father, the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe shlit"a, who is spending Shabbos in Kiryas Vizhnitz in Monsey, and a pleasant conversation developed about Kiryas Vizhnitz and other topics.

The Rebbe's plane landed at the airport in Athens, Greece, at around 3:55 (8:55 New York time).

Upon disembarking, the Rebbe davened Mincha at the airport. The baal tefillah was HaRav HaTzaddik R' Mendel Hager shlit"a.

Afterwards the Rebbe set out for the hotel in Athens, a drive of about half an hour.

At around 7:30 (12:30 New York time) the Rebbe davened Maariv at the hotel. The baal tefillah was R' Yosef Chaim Weiss (Bnei Brak).

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a went out for a walk with a select few mekuravim on the streets around the hotel where the Rebbe is staying. While walking, the Rebbe related a little about historical periods of the Greek kingdom in the history of the Jewish people.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Chayei Sarah, Shabbos Mevarchim Chodesh Kislev — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before candle-lighting, the Rebbe placed the shtreimel on the chassan Moshe, son of Yoel Malach.

On Friday night at around 5:15, the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went to Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Dovid Aryeh Yaakov (Williamsburg).
The davening ended at around 6:45. The tzibur went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 8:25, the Rebbe entered the tish at the Heichal HaMesivta, Yoel Moshe branch, together with the talmidim of the yeshiva, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.
- Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yissocher Ber Teitelbaum, son-in-law-to-be of... correction: son of the Rebbe's chosson-in-law, the Rav of the beis medrash Barech Moshe shlit"a.
- Hagbahas HaKos: R' Chaim Yekusiel Halpert.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros.
- Kol Mekadesh: his grandson Rabbi Meir Yuda Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of the Rav of beis medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a.
- Menucha V'Simcha: HaGaon R' Lipa Berkowitz shlit"a, a moreh tzedek.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash, "In the merit of Rivkah saying 'I will go,' Yisroel merited to leave Mitzrayim," and explained it in the manner of a derush on the sugya of aseh docheh lo sa'aseh.

Stories and anecdotes: This week the Rebbe shlit"a told stories about the holy Rebbe R' Hersh of Rimanov zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on 30 Cheshvan.

The new chasanim went over to take fruit. A shalom zachor took place at the home of R' Yechezkel Shraga Glantz.

Afterwards, they continued with Meron niggunim in honor of the holy journey to Eretz Yisroel and Shabbos Kodesh at the holy site of Meron.
It ended at around 11:15.

And on Shabbos Day

On Shabbos morning, the Rebbe entered at around 9:25.

- Shlishi: the chassan Moshe, son of Yeshaya Shabsi Brach.
- Revii: the Shabbos Mevarchim ba'al koreh, R' Yehoshua Mendlowitz.
- Chamishi: R' Yoel Zev Naftali Neiman; the Rebbe called him up by name in honor of the birth of his daughter. Mazel tov!
- Shishi: the Rebbe shlit"a.

The Rebbe entered for Mincha at around 5:10.

- Levi: Rabbi Yehoshua Zalman Wertzberger shlit"a.

At Shalosh Seudos, the Rebbe honored people with the zemiros.

The Rebbe spoke on the verse "And Hashem blessed Avrohom with everything," and explained that the Holy One, Blessed is He, in His abundant mercy and kindness, joins the deeds of a mitzvah of a simple Jew with the thoughts of the mitzvah of the tzaddikim, and together it becomes a complete mitzvah.

The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup and said Sheva Brachos.

After Havdalah, the Rebbe stood up and wished the entire tzibur, "A gutte voch, may we travel in peace and good health, and we hope to be back for Shabbos Parshas Vayeitzei." Afterwards, the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and zemiros in honor of his departure on the holy journey to Eretz Yisroel and Shabbos Kodesh at the holy site of Meron. It ended at around 7:25.
