The second night of Chanukah 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 6:00 in his holy home. Before Maariv, the young man Moshe, son of R' Aharon Yosef Berger, lit the menorah.

At around 9:10 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Great Beis Medrash for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a multitude of people, "the glory of the King." Upon entering, the Rebbe greeted the Spinka Beis Yitzchak Rebbe shlit"a and the rabbanim shlit"a who were present.
The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterward, the Rebbe recited the zemiros while the assembled sang inspiring melodies, and then the choir sang the piyutim as is customary.

Then the Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words of Torah discourse and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kavsa zekuk lah," and then continued in the manner of aggada: the reward for walking with tzitzis visible is that one merits open miracles. Since the Chashmonaim walked with their tzitzis outside, they merited victory in the war. For this reason there are eight days of Chanukah, corresponding to the eight strings of the tzitzis. The Rebbe urged people to walk with their tzitzis visible and not to be ashamed of it, and in that merit we will merit open kindnesses. The Rebbe concluded with abundant blessings for the entire assembly.

After the holy words, the singing of melodies continued; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished holy blessings. It ended at around 10:25.

The first night of Chanukah 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 6:00 in his holy home. Before Maariv, R' Berel Stein lit the menorah.

At around 9:00 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Great Beis Medrash for the lighting of the Chanukah candles, amid a multitude of people, "the glory of the King." The Rebbe poured in the oil and recited the blessings over the lighting.
Afterward, the Rebbe recited the zemiros while the assembled sang inspiring melodies, and then the choir sang the piyutim as is customary.

Then the Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words of Torah discourse and pilpul on the sugya in Maseches Shabbos regarding "kavsa zekuk lah" (once the flame has gone out, one is still obligated to it), and then continued in the manner of aggada: even though we say that there is no reward for a mitzvah in this world, for the preparation toward a mitzvah one does receive reward in this world. In the merit of "u'finu es heichalecha v'tiharu es mikdashecha" (they cleared Your Sanctuary and purified Your Temple), which was a preparation for lighting the Chanukah lights, they merited victory in the war. For this reason there are eight days of Chanukah. This is also the reason Birkas Kohanim is read on the Yom Tov of Chanukah: since they merited Birkas Kohanim because they made a preparation for the giving of the Torah, and the blessings come down on Chanukah. The Rebbe concluded with abundant blessings for the entire assembly.

After the holy words, the singing of melodies continued; the Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished holy blessings. It ended at around 10:20.

Thursday, Parshas Vayeira - 21 Kislev 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Simcha Bunim Eisenbach, at which the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yoel Meirmelstein, son of R' (Rabbi) Meir.
During the leining, the Rebbe received the third aliyah, and after davening a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe made his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

At around 4:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Zanz Street, Kiryas Joel.

After Mincha, the Rebbe went to the halls of Ginas Klein, where the seudah in honor of 21 Kislev was held by the more than 1,500 talmidim of the Mesivta, together with the Sheva Brachos celebration for the marriage of the eldest fourth-generation granddaughter of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a. The kallah is the daughter of his grandson HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Glantz shlit"a, son-in-law of the Gaon Av Beis Din of Womsib"g shlit"a, and the chosson is the choshuv bochur Rabbi Alter Yitzchak shlit"a, one of the distinguished talmidim of our holy yeshiva in Kiryas Yoel.
Upon entering, the Rebbe danced in the middle of the floor for several minutes and then washed for the seudah. During the seudah, they sang lengthy melodies of praise and thanksgiving in honor of the day, and R' Moshe Yosef Ashkenazi shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva, spoke, expressing the bond between the Rebbe shlit"a and the talmidim of the yeshiva. He also presented the Rebbe shlit"a with a "bikkurim offering," a record of the consecutive hours the bochurim learned during the two weeks of the holy trip to Eretz Yisroel, as the Rebbe shlit"a had requested at the send-off before their departure for Eretz Yisroel. Afterwards, the Rebbe distributed to the traveling bochurim a small bottle of oil from the oil from which the Rebbe had separated terumos and maasros in Eretz Yisroel.
R' Hershel Friedman, who had served as chairman with his Lashon Limudim and had previously given the bochurim a lengthy chapter of history regarding the Rebbe's rescue, spoke again with words of humor in honor of the simcha.
Before the time, bentching was held.
- During bentching, the Rebbe honored the chosson's grandson shlit"a.
- Birchos Rishonos: the Gaon Av Beis Din of Womsib"g shlit"a.
- Birkas Acharisa: the Gaon Av Beis Din of Bardiov shlit"a.

Afterwards, the Rebbe delivered words of Torah on the topic of thanksgiving, bringing out that true thanksgiving exists only when there is also a good resolution for the future. Every bochur needs to know this: on 21 Kislev, when we offer praise and thanks to Hashem for the past, we must make good resolutions for the future, with more learning of Torah and more toil in Torah. The Rebbe also praised the talmidim of the yeshiva who, during the trip to Eretz Yisroel, continued with the yeshiva's learning seder as usual. He said that the trip's success beyond all expectations was in the merit of the bochurim sitting and engaging in Torah with diligence and adding consecutive hours of learning.
The Rebbe then continued and related several stories about the Divrei Yoel zt"l's connection with the bochurim.
The Rebbe continued, saying that this week at a sheva brachos with the younger bochurim, a question was raised as to whether bochurim should learn Likutei Moharan. The Rebbe entered into a lengthy discussion on the topic of Breslov, particularly regarding learning Likutei Moharan and traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashana.
The Rebbe related several stories of the Divrei Yoel zt"l on this topic and his holy opinion: "The holy Rabbi Nachman of Breslov zy"a was an exalted holy man and his sefer is also holy, but it is not made for us bochurim, to the point that it can lead a bochur away from the correct outlook"... end of the words of the Divrei Yoel zy"a. The same applies to traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashana: although there are also Breslover chassidim and men of deeds who travel, nevertheless there is a large segment who travel with the notion that one can do whatever one wants all year, and then travel to Uman for Rosh Hashana, say the Tikkun HaKlali, and be absolved of everything. This is a great danger and not made for simple people, especially since many travel there to cast off the yoke and seriousness of Rosh Hashana.

In this connection, the Rebbe honored HaGaon Rabbi Dovid Shlomo Eckstein shlit"a to relate a firsthand account of what the Divrei Yoel zy"a told him on this topic. The Rebbe then continued and urged the bochurim not to get involved in these matters, and then honored HaGaon Rabbi Dovid Glick shlit"a to relate what he remembers the Rebbe z"l said on this topic.
It ended at around 6:00.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim.
- R' Yoel Feierstein, son of R' (Rabbi) Yoel, and R' Gedalia Apfel, in the halls of Kinor Dovid.
- R' Avrohom Yehoshua Gross and R' Yoel Weiss, son of R' Moshe, in the halls of Beis Rachel Paradise.

The hours for receiving the public in the Rebbe's holy home on Uhel Street, Kiryas Joel, were from 8:15 until 11:30 at night.

During the reception hours, the tenaim reading of the mechutanim took place in the inner sanctum: R' Yisroel Shalom Ungar and R' Shlomo Hersh Eckstein, son of R' Dovid.

At around 9:45 the Rebbe went down to the hall, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim:
- Rabbi Baruch Schwartz shlit"a and Rabbi Dovid Leib Kraus shlit"a.
- R' Avrohom Shmuel Schwartz and R' Yoel Farkash, son of R' Zev.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 10:30 and then continued receiving the public.

After the reception hours, the Rebbe went to the sheva brachos celebration in the Ziditshov beis medrash in honor of the beis medrash's rav, HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Rubin shlit"a, on the occasion of his son's marriage, mazel tov. A lovely conversation ensued with the grandfathers, the Gaon Av Beis Din of Montreal shlit"a and the Gaon Av Beis Din of Ziditshov shlit"a.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and offered good wishes to the chosson, the mechutanim, and the grandfathers shlit"a, and joined in a dance with the entire mizrach and especially with the chosson.
Afterwards, bentching was held and the Rebbe recited the sheva brachos. It ended at around 12:00.

Wednesday, Parshas Vayeishev 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning a bris was held for the newborn son of R' Yehuda Asher, son of the bochur Eliezer Roth, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.
- The bochur Moshe Yosef Ehrenfeld.
- The bochur Yoshe Mordechai Danziger.
After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

During the morning hours, HaRav R' Shimon Shisha shlit"a, head of the rescuers at the Markaz Ezra V'Yeitzah of the Eidah HaChareidis for saving Jewish bochurim from the decree of the draft, contacted the Rebbe shlit"a by phone to receive a blessing ahead of the opening of a new, expanded office of the Markaz in Bnei Brak. With Hashem's help, it will open right after Chanukah in a new, large location with an expanded staff of rescuers, in order to be able to handle the increased problems that the impure army is causing for chassidish bochurim. This follows the Rebbe shlit"a's personal request during the holy journey to Eretz Yisroel to expand the activities of the Markaz in the city of Bnei Brak, because of the worsened situation of the decree of the draft and the great demand and need among the thousands of yeshiva students of Bnei Brak.
The Rebbe shlit"a thanked R' Shimon shlit"a for his help to several of our bochurim, who, Baruch Hashem, received an exemption through the Markaz, and discussed the bitter situation of the draft, and in particular the situation of several of our bochurim who unfortunately are still entangled with the impure army. The Rebbe gave his holy blessing to R' Shimon shlit"a and to all the rescuers.

At around 7:15 the Rebbe went over to the home of the distinguished philanthropist R' Avrohom Yehuda Mandel in Kiryas Joel for a lechayim celebration in honor of his son's wedding, mazel tov. A pleasant conversation ensued, during which R' Avrohom Yehuda showed the Rebbe shlit"a various antique seforim and manuscripts in his collection, among them the 'Ginzei Yehuda' project that he published in honor of the wedding. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and gave his holy blessing to the chosson, the mechutanim, and the whole family.

"I will thank You in the great congregation, among a mighty people I will praise You" – "Hashem's kindnesses, for we are not consumed, for His mercies have not ended":

As the heads of the people gathered together with the tribes of Yisroel, the 81st Yom HaHatzalah VehaShichrur of the holy Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, was celebrated and marked at the central, glorious and exalted gathering, a Seudas Hodaah on the night of thanksgiving, Motzei Shabbos, 21 Kislev, in the presence of tens of thousands of Jews, at the head of dozens of rabbonim and dayanim shlit"a, led by the leader of the kehilla, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, in the gigantic, enormous building of over 80,000 square feet, the 'Binyan HaHodaah,' which was erected at Waterfront Square in Williamsburg, combined with the 'Gidlu V'Hitzlichu' dinner for the benefit of our holy mosdos in Williamsburg and their thousands of children, ke"h.

The enormous Binyan HaHodaah was masterfully set up to accommodate the thousands of chassidim from greater New York and beyond.

In honor of the exalted gathering, a very rich collection, 'Ohr Muflah,' was published, beautifully assembled with numerous essays and articles about the entire historic holy journey of the Rebbe shlit"a to Eretz Yisroel and the elevated Shabbos at the holy site of Meron, along with pictures and details of the expansion of holiness within our holy mosdos in Williamsburg.

Throughout the gathering, the wonderful singer Rabbi Yisroel Adler of Eretz Yisroel and R' Menachem Dovid Moskowitz entertained with songs and melodies, accompanied by the renowned Chevra Shira choir and led by the renowned conductor R' Yoel Fischer.

HaGaon Rabbi Shlomo Shabsai Kestenbaum shlit"a, one of the rabbonim of our Williamsburg kehilla, served as chairman of the gathering, and led the exalted gathering and presided in honor of the day with good taste and judgment.

At around 9:30, thousands of chassidim merited to greet the holy countenance of the Rebbe shlit"a. When the Rebbe entered, the thousands erupted in fiery dancing to "Chasdei Hashem," "for the miracles that You performed in those days and at this time." The Rebbe greeted the dozens of rabbonim and then danced with fiery holy dancing and great emotion for several minutes in honor of the day, "Hashem's kindnesses, in You they trusted."

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the holy table in honor of the day, and after the fish he wished lechayim and gave his blessing to the tens of thousands of Jews, and then set out in a joyous dance to melodies of thanksgiving.

HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Mattisyahu Deutsch shlit"a, Av Beis Din of the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in the holy city of Yerushalayim, served as the keynote speaker.

During the gathering, the mosdos administrator HaRav R' Mordechai Elazar Hirsch spoke, highlighting the full efforts of the generous donors and philanthropists of our holy kehilla, through whom alone the mosdos can continue to operate, and spoke about the expansion of holiness in our holy mosdos in Williamsburg. R' Mordechai Elazar also, out of respect for the government, welcomed the political officials who came to show their appreciation for our holy kehilla, among them New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, and also read a letter from the esteemed President Trump, may he live, which was sent in honor of the gathering.

Afterwards a presentation, 'Shalhevet Meron,' was given by HaRav R' Yisroel Adler, in which he sang special verses about the more than 50 hours at the holy site of Meron.

At around 11:00 the Rebbe shlit"a began the Divrei Kodesh and guidance for the year. The Rebbe began with words of aggadah on the topic of thanksgiving, and explained that when one praises Hashem together with a multitude, one can praise Him even if one is not worthy: "I will thank Hashem with all my heart in the council of the upright and the congregation." He spoke about the obligation of thanksgiving that rests on each person to Hashem for the rescue of the holy Rebbe zy"a, when one sees the Torah empire he established across the entire world. At the same time, there is a duty upon us to expand all these activities by establishing more batei medrash and more schools, increasing acts of kindness, walking in his ways in all matters, and supporting the holy institution Keren Hatzalah, which he established with his remaining strength. He praised and warmly thanked the esteemed philanthropists of our community who donated the enormous sum of a million dollars to Keren Hatzalah, which the Rebbe handed over to the members of the Beis Din during the trip to Eretz Yisroel.
Likewise, one must ensure to conduct oneself in matters of tznius in the strongest manner, and the Rebbe praised the new regulation at Beis Rochel in Williamsburg to institute the special tzniusdige clothing for all the students.
The Rebbe continued, speaking about the difficult situation of the expensive apartments in Williamsburg, where people pay enormous sums for a small apartment, and that is aside from the spiritual problems. The time has come to move away to other places! There is a duty upon the parents to encourage their children to move away from Williamsburg. He strongly reinforced the regulation on apartment prices in Kiryas Joel and strongly demanded that no one pay more than three hundred dollars per square foot in Kiryas Joel and two hundred fifty dollars in Kiryas Joel HaMeuchedes [expanded]. He said that when one moves to the expanded Kiryas Joel, one should take into account the expensive school fees along with the other fees that come with it, which the brokers do not tell.
The Rebbe also emphasized that the city of Kiryas Joel and likewise the expanded Kiryas Joel were established by the holy Rebbe, the Baal HaNes zy"a, so that there would be a separate place from other views in matters of hashkafa, and there is a duty upon us to guard this. It is very painful that there are people who take actions to bring in foreign communities that hold a different hashkafa from ours in matters of separation from the impurity of Zionism, and they should know that the holy Rebbe zy"a was very strict about this, "and be careful with their coals."

Afterwards the Rebbe spoke about the elevated holy journey to Eretz Yisroel, praising the travelers who went with elevation and seriousness. A large portion went only to Rebbi Shimon and home, and did not go to any other places. It is evident and recognizable that this is the fruit of the students of the holy Rebbe zy"a who conduct themselves by the holy approach of "Vayoel Moshe," and there was great honor for the holy Rebbe zy"a and for the holy approach. He continued about the importance of our kehilla and holy mosdos in Eretz Yisroel, "all beautiful and all pleasant," and about the decrees of the draft, noting that they personally witnessed the bitter situation. The only address to turn to is the Markaz Ezra V'Yeitzah, and he wished them great success in their beneficial activities. He strongly came out against those who work to make compromises: we are dealing with Jewish lives, "this one lives and this one dies," and there is a duty to cry out a great and bitter outcry. He expressed hope and prayer that they not, chas v'shalom, make any compromises, praying "Avinu Malkeinu, annul the counsel of our enemies."
The Rebbe also shared his personal testimony about the American bochurim studying in Eretz Yisroel, who roam the streets day and night. This is a result of sending bochurim at a young age to other yeshivos, which means that when they grow older they travel to learn in Eretz Yisroel, "and the wise man has his eyes in his head."
Afterwards the Rebbe spoke in praise of our holy mosdos in Williamsburg and of the mosdos administration who stand at the helm and raise the large sums. He mentioned with praise the esteemed Rispler family, who undertook to build the new Beis Rochel building, which is already the third building they have donated, and the Rebbe wished them abundant blessings. The Rebbe concluded with his holy blessing to the entire gathering.

Before bentching, joyous melodies were sung in honor of the Sheva Berachos at the Rebbe's home, the celebration of the wedding of the first grandchild.
Birkas Hamazon was led by HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood shlit"a, and the Sheva Berachos were recited by his brother-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Borough Park shlit"a.

It concluded at around 11:50, and the Rebbe traveled home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.

At around 3:40, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Zanz St.

After Mincha, the Rebbe went down to the hall in his holy home, where the Sheva Brachos celebration took place, arranged by the Rebbe shlit"a for the talmidim of Yeshivas Derech HaTorah and Shvil HaTorah, which are headed by the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a.
Upon entering, the Rebbe danced in place and washed for the Sheva Brachos. During the Sheva Brachos, the directors, HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Oppenheim shlit"a and Rabbi Yoel Neiman shlit"a, posed various questions to the Rebbe shlit"a on matters of hashkafa and Chassidus relevant to bochurim, and the Rebbe responded and discussed the topics with sound reasoning and insight. Afterwards, the master of ceremonies, R' Chaim Shlomo Fischer, delivered a speech, expressing the gratitude that every father of a bochur in one of the yeshivos has a special hakaras hatov to the Rav shlit"a, who invests so much effort in the yeshivos. Despite the Rav shlit"a being a very busy person who oversees mosdos with thousands of children and bochurim in Williamsburg, he nevertheless gives so much of his time and personally raises enormous sums for the yeshivos to enhance the glory of Torah.

The Rebbe then delivered a discourse on the topic of marriage, and continued with guidance and mussar regarding Torah study, toil in Torah, avodas hatefilla, being careful with the trait of truth, sincere niggunim, and various other matters, and concluded with abundant blessings.

Afterwards, Rabbi Shalom Yaakov Wasner shlit"a performed words of badchanus in honor of the simcha.
- Birkas Hamazon: the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a.
- First brachos: HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Oppenheim shlit"a.
- Last bracha: Rabbi Yoel Neiman shlit"a.
It ended at around 6:30.

In the evening, the Rebbe traveled to Williamsburg for the weekly receiving of kvitlach (zmanei kenisa).
The zmanei kenisa in Kiryas Joel took place from 8:30 until 12:30 at night in his holy home on Hughes St.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 9:30, and after Maariv he continued receiving the public.
