Friday, Erev Shabbos, Parshas Shoftim — 2 Rosh Chodesh Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, a bris took place for a newborn son of R' Yaakov Glick, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis at Yeshiva Ketana, the Avnei Tzedek branch, under the leadership of HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Eliezer Davidowitz shlit"a.
Upon arrival at the yeshiva, the younger children, who are stationed in the yeshiva ketana building, waited outside. Afterwards the Rebbe entered the yeshiva hall and looked over the learning.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- The bochur Yoel, son of R' Aharon Silberstein.
- The bochur Yoel, son of R' Shlomo Reuven Gabra.

The Rebbe proceeded to Hallel.
After Barchi Nafshi, "L'Dovid Hashem Ori V'Yishi" was recited, as is customary.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up as the fourth aliya.

After davening, the Rebbe blew shofar and recited ten chapters of Tehillim, as is customary during the month of Elul.

Afterwards, a lechayim gathering took place in the Heichal HaBeis Medrash. Several niggunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and blessed the bar mitzvah bochurim, the rebbeim and the talmidim of the yeshiva. The Rebbe conveyed in his holy words that one must have the merit to be awakened to teshuva by the sounding of the shofar, and that this can be attained through the study of Torah. He urged the bochurim to make use of the month of Elul to review the learning of the entire year, and concluded with his holy blessing.

Thursday, Parshas Shoftim — 1 Rosh Chodesh Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, a bris took place for a newborn son of R' Moshe Herskowitz, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis at Yeshiva Ketana, the Yismach Moshe branch, under the leadership of HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Hersh Zaldan shlit"a. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- The bochur Yoel, son of R' Aharon Weinberger.
- The bochur Yaakov Yoshe Klein.

The Rebbe proceeded to Hallel, and during the Torah reading was called up as the fourth aliya.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place in the Heichal HaBeis Medrash. Several niggunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and blessed the bar mitzvah bochurim, the rebbeim and the talmidim of the yeshiva. The Rebbe conveyed in his holy words that the study of Torah is the best advocate on the Day of Judgment and that this is the most fitting preparation for the month of Elul, and concluded with his holy blessing.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim:
- R' Yisroel Shalom Ungar and R' Shlomo Hersh Eckstein in the halls of Beis Rachel Paradise.
- R' Avrohom Yisroel Herskowitz and R' Berish Feldman in the halls of Ginas Klein.

Between the chuppos, the Rebbe went over to the home of R' Avrohom Wieder for the annual gathering for the benefit of the Mosad Rav Tuv for the rescue of refugees from Iran and Ukraine. A conversation developed about the latest activities on behalf of the refugees. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and blessed R' Avrohom and the other members of the board.

At around 8:20, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Ahel Street.
Afterwards, there were yechidus hours until 12:40 at night in his holy home.

At around 9:30, the Rebbe went down to the tnaim hall in his holy home, where the Rebbe read the tnaim of the mechutanim:
- R' Yechiel Alter Taub and R' Avrohom Meir Eckstein.
Afterwards, the Rebbe went in to the tnaim of the mechutanim R' Naftali Hirtzka Stein and R' Shmuel Mordechai Stein. The Rebbe read the tnaim, then drank a lechayim and shared of his holy blessing.

During the yechidus hours, HaGaon Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Greenberg shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Mihalovitz in Lakewood, came in for a private audience. A pleasant conversation ensued and the Rebbe shared his holy blessing with him.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:40.

Wednesday, Parshas Shoftim 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, the brisos took place.
- For the son born to R' Lipa Berish"l Weinberger, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- For the son born to R' Chaim Yaakov Lebowitz, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- For the son born to R' Yaakov Ber"l Falkowitz (the grandson of the Rebbe's chassid), where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Yeshiva Gedolah, Yoel Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.
- The bochur Chaim Yechezkel Lazar.
- The bochur Yaakov Feldman.
- The bochur Yaakov Chaim Pollack.

After davening, the Rebbe led the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 32, verse 2.

At around 1:00, the Rebbe entered the beis medrash for the recital of Yom Kippur Katan, as is customary on Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul, and recited it with great inspiration and weeping, especially during the recital of the Viduy of Rabbeinu Nissim.
- Baal tefillah: HaGaon Rabbi Meir Zwibel shlit"a, a rebbe in the yeshiva.
They concluded at around 1:45.

At around 3:00, the Rebbe arrived at the taharah room in the Kiryas Joel cemetery, and the Kashnov Rebbes shlit"a, the brothers sitting shiva for their mother, the Kashnov Rebbetzin a"h, were comforted. A pleasant conversation ensued about stories and customs of the House of Sanz, and the Rebbe offered the blessing of consolation.

In the afternoon, the hachnasas sefer Torah took place through the talmidim of the Mesivta, Yoel Moshe branch, in memory of the bochur Yehuda a"h, son of Rabbi Eliyahu Zev Yakob shlit"a of Bnei Brak, one of the outstanding students of the yeshiva.

At around 4:50, the Rebbe brought the Sefer Torah out of his holy home. The Rebbe danced with the Sefer Torah in his holy home for several minutes, and then brought the Sefer Torah out into the street, and danced under the chuppah for several minutes, and then returned to his holy home.

At around 6:40, the Rebbe went up to the Heichal of the Mesivta, Yoel Moshe branch, for the hachnasas sefer Torah. The Rebbe took the Sefer Torah and led the holy dancing as is customary, and then honored the HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, the family members and the members of the Mesivta's administration to dance, and then recited L'Dovid Mizmor as is customary. He then davened Mincha in the Heichal of the beis medrash. They concluded at around 7:15.

Yechidus hours at the Rebbe's holy home on Ahel Court ran from 8:30 until 1:50 after midnight.

At around 9:20, the Rebbe went down to the tenaim hall in his holy home, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim.
- R' Yoel Dovid Deutsch and R' Yekusiel Eliyahu Eigner.
- R' Mordechai Yehoshua Landau and R' Yisroel Aryeh Hollander.
- R' Baruch Yosef Braun and R' Dovid Blum.

During the yechidus hours, a group of developers, baalei batim, entered the Rebbe's room. They own hundreds of acres of land in Monticello, with a plan to build close to thirteen thousand housing units in the coming years! They are already in the final stages of obtaining permits to build the first several thousand units at affordable prices for chareidi Jews. The Rebbe spoke with them at length, went over many details of the massive plans, and warmly bestowed his holy blessing.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:50 and then continued receiving the public.

Tuesday, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Chaim Hersh Fisher, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in Yeshiva Gedolah, the Eitz Chaim branch, in the third shiur. After davening, the Rebbe delivered a Tehillim shiur on chapter 32, verse 2.

During the morning hours, the Rebbe went on his weekly visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse.

At around 5:30 the Rebbe arrived at the Heichal HaMesivta, the V'Yoel Moshe branch, for the siyum on the writing of a Sefer Torah that was commissioned by the talmidim of the yeshiva, l'ilui nishmas the bochur Yuda a"h, son of Rabbi Eliyahu Zev Yaakov shlit"a of Bnei Brak, one of the outstanding talmidim of the yeshiva.
Songs of inspiration were sung, and the bochur Shaul, son of R' Elimelech Brach, sang rhymes in honor of the occasion.
The Rebbe wrote the final letters in the Sefer Torah, and the singing of inspiring songs continued.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and offered blessings to the HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, to Rabbi Eliyahu Zev Yaakov shlit"a, and to the rebbeim and talmidim of the yeshiva. He delivered words of Torah and praised the talmidim of the yeshiva who exerted themselves, both physically and financially, and wrote a Sefer Torah for a fellow talmid of the yeshiva. This is a great thing for the neshama, especially for someone who left no children. Bereishis contains the letters "Beis reishis," which allude to the two Torahs, the Written Torah and the Oral Torah. The Written Torah had already been fulfilled, and he urged them to use the last month until the end of the zman to review the Oral Torah, the yeshiva's learning in Maseches Bava Basra, and he concluded with his holy blessing.

Afterwards the Rebbe went for hagbah and danced with the open Sefer Torah for an extended time. Rabbi Eliyahu Zev Yaakov shlit"a had the honor of gelilah. The honor of putting on the belt went to HaRav R' Dovid Shmuel Goldberger, the mantle to Rabbi Aharon Yekusiel Berkowitz shlit"a, and placing the crown to HaRav R' Yoel Dovid Schwartz, all members of the mesivta's administration.
Then the Rebbe broke into a joyous dance with the Sefer Torah for an extended time, afterwards honored the Dayan shlit"a to dance with the Sefer Torah, and the dancing continued.
It concluded at around 6:20.
A few minutes later the Rebbe entered for Mincha in the Heichal of the beis medrash.

In the evening the Rebbe traveled to Williamsburg for the weekly yechidus hours.
Private yechidus hours were held from 8:20 until 12:20 after midnight in his holy home on Hewes Street.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:20 and then continued receiving the public.

Monday, Parshas Shoftim — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning brissin took place.
- For the newborn son of R' Chaim Yoshe Katz, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- For the newborn son of R' Yoel Friedman, the mohel (Williamsburg), where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- For the newborn son of R' Shlomo Zalman Brill (Williamsburg), where the Rebbe served as sandek.
- For the newborn son of R' Yechezkel Yechiel Michel Mezei (Williamsburg), where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in Yeshiva Gedolah, the Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.
- The bochur Yoel, son of R' Avrohom Moshe Rosenberg.
- The bochur Avrohom Jabra.

During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up as Shlishi. After davening, the Rebbe delivered the daily Tehillim shiur on chapter 32, verse 2. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

At around 8:20 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Ohel Street (Kt).
Afterwards, yechidus hours were held until 1:30 after midnight in his holy home.

At around 9:00 the Rebbe went down to the halls in his holy home, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim HaRav R' Alexander Nuchem Gottlieb and HaRav R' Yitzchak Yoel Stein.

During the yechidus hours, the Rav of our kehilla in London shlit"a, who is currently staying in New York for the next few weeks, came in privately. A pleasant conversation took place about our holy kehilla in London, and he presented to the Rebbe shlit"a his new sefer on the laws of taharah, and the Rebbe bestowed upon him from his holy blessing.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:50 and then continued receiving the public.

After Maariv, HaGaon Rabbi Shmuel Binyomin Krausz shlit"a, for a refuah sheleimah, president of Yeshivas Torah Vodaas London, came in privately to give and receive blessings ahead of the Yamim Noraim, may they come upon us for good. The Rebbe inquired about his well-being and bestowed upon him from his holy blessing.

Sunday, Parshas Shoftim – 26 Menachem Av, Hilula Kadisha of the Divrei Yoel zt"l – 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, the brisim took place.
- For the newborn son of R' Yosef Zundel Apfel, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- For the newborn son of R' Yoel Alter Goldstein (Williamsburg), where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the yeshiva building at the kever, Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch, adjacent to the distinguished ohel, together with hundreds of chassidim and the talmidim of the Mesivta.
The Rebbe lit 5 candles at the amud and led the davening on the day of the hilula with great hispaarus.

A few minutes after the davening, at around 12:20, the Rebbe entered the lechayim gathering before going up to the holy ohel, amid a large crowd, in royal splendor. The Rebbe made the siyum on the six orders of Mishnah, which had been learned by the talmidim of the Mesivta, and recited Kaddish. Songs of inspiration and devotion were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and gave blessings to the entire assembly.

The Rebbe delivered words of holy preparation and inspiration before visiting the holy ohel, on the verse "Tzedek, tzedek tirdof… v'yarashta" ("Justice, justice shall you pursue… and you shall inherit"). He explained that Moshe Rabbeinu, who was a leader, nevertheless received the power of a servant who has constant access to the King, in order to bring about salvations. The same is true of the Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zt"l, the one whose hilula it is, and through this he can bring about salvations and bestow blessing upon all of Klal Yisroel. The Rebbe also spoke about the holy Mesivta, which is a continuation of the yeshiva that the Divrei Yoel zt"l established, and what this means for a yeshiva student. He went on to speak about the many requests that Klal Yisroel is davening for today, on the day of the hilula, both in spiritual matters and in material ones, each person with his own needs, refuos, and that in the merit of the one whose hilula it is we hope to bring about all good, especially the complete Redemption, for which the Divrei Yoel zt"l constantly davened and which he urged, shedding rivers of tears over it. He concluded with his holy blessing.

After the lechayim gathering, at around 1:15, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the distinguished ohel, together with thousands of chassidim and the talmidim of the Mesivta.
Upon arriving at the cemetery, the Rebbe recited the blessing, lit 5 candles along with a neshama candle, and said the tefillah "Shalom Aleichem" of the Yismach Moshe zt"l. He then recited Tehillim from chapter 90 through 107 as is customary, and said the Yehi Ratzon with outpouring of the soul. After that the Rebbe learned chapters of Mishnayos and recited Kaddish D'Rabbanan.
The Rebbe shlit"a read kvitlach for an extended time, while songs of inspiration that used to be sung in the beis medrash of the one whose hilula it is were sung. During this, a special kvitel from the donors of 'Keren Kiryas Yoel' was handed to the Rebbe. The Rebbe read through all the names for an extended time and placed the kvitel on the holy kever. The Rebbe then prostrated himself on the holy kever for an extended time. They concluded at around 2:15.

From there the Rebbe went to the home of his grandson HaRav Meir Eliezer Meisels shlit"a, son of the rav of the Yismach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a, for the upsherin of his young son Yoel. The Rebbe cut a few locks of hair, put on the kippah and tzitzis, and shared of his holy blessing.
Afterwards the Rebbe washed for the morning meal. Beautiful conversation followed, with stories of tzaddikim, and joyous songs were sung. The Rebbe recited Birkas Hamazon over the cup, and they concluded at around 3:00.

At around 8:30, the Rebbe entered for Mincha in the main beis medrash. The Rebbe lit candles and went to the amud in honor of the hilula kadisha.

After Mincha, the Rebbe went up to the dais of honor for the central seudas hilula of the Divrei Yoel zt"l. The Rebbe washed for the seudah and prolonged his pure table. He then made the siyum on all of Shas and the six orders of Mishnah, which had been learned by the Chevra Shas of our holy kehilla, and then recited the Hadran and Kaddish. At the lechayim after the fish, the Rebbe wished, "May his merit protect us and all of Yisroel."
During the tish, songs of devotion and longing were sung, which used to be sung in the beis medrash of the one whose hilula it is. The Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon R' Chaim Yosef Wertzberger shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Hunyad, Kiryas Joel, with Michtam L'David.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of Torah on the verse "Tzedek, tzedek tirdof… v'yarashta", explaining in the teaching of the one whose hilula it is, the Divrei Yoel zt"l, and discussing his greatness and righteousness. With his flaming fire of fear of Heaven, he was called a servant of Hashem, and "whoever acquires a Hebrew servant acquires a master for himself." Therefore he had the power of "the tzaddik decrees and the Holy One, blessed be He, fulfills," to bring blessing, and to nullify decrees against Jewish children. His talmidim, whom he established as a community of G-d-fearing and complete Jews, a mosad of Torah and yiras Shamayim, are, Baruch Hashem, still flourishing, dozens of years after his passing, as the camp of Hashem grows: upright baalei batim and modest, fitting women. All of this is his influence, the pure fear of Hashem that endures forever. This is especially so in this holy city of Kiryas Joel, which is in his name and memory, where today nearly nine thousand families live, all upright Jews who walk in his ways. The Rebbe also recalled the good memory of his father, the Beirach Moshe zt"l, who invested so much effort to continue the work and the legacy of his uncle z"l in Kiryas Joel.

The Rebbe continued with matters of the hour, about the many housing projects that are being built and prepared to be built in all parts of Kiryas Joel, which will bring close to four thousand new apartments in the coming years, all at the price of $300 per square foot! It will be for the glory of Kiryas Joel and of the founder of the city zt"l.

In this connection he announced the good news that last week they Baruch Hashem received the permits for the new community in Monticello for the first 200 apartments, especially for our chassidim. It will be called 'Kiryas Moshe' in the name and memory of his father, the Beirach Moshe zt"l, and will be even cheaper than Kiryas Joel.
The Rebbe then spoke with pain about the lies and falsehoods that sellers tell buyers, both about the size of the apartment and about the taxes, etc. This is ona'ah, a Torah prohibition. He related an actual incident of a Jew who bought an apartment in Kiryas Joel Expanded, where the seller told him the taxes were six thousand dollars a year, and in reality they were seventeen thousand dollars!
The Rebbe appealed to the general chassidic public throughout New York, who struggle to buy an apartment because of the high prices, to pick themselves up and move to Monticello, where three thousand new apartments are now being built at very low prices.

The Rebbe continued about the affordable simcha halls that were built in Kiryas Joel, both for weddings and for Shabbos Sheva Brachos, a very good thing, and announced the good news that it will be possible to receive a loan of forty thousand dollars with small payments of five hundred dollars a month, especially for those who commit to the simcha takanos. He thanked the askanim who brought this about.
He then spoke words of preparation for the month of Elul: to increase learning Torah and to be connected to one of the chevras of our holy kehilla on a fully fixed basis; the destruction that comes from impure devices. He mentioned the address of the Divrei Yoel zt"l on Shabbos Parshas Shoftim 5725 before the Torah reading, about the new fashions in women's clothing, both the sheitels and the see-through stockings. He strengthened the takanos of our holy mosdos, and in this connection asked the leadership of our kehilla in Williamsburg to reprint that fiery address. He continued about the war for Hashem against Amalek which the Divrei Yoel zt"l waged against the impurity of Zionism. He repeated his holy words, which the Rebbe himself heard, that he feared a time would come when an upright Jew would be unable to live in Eretz Yisroel because of the decree of drafting yeshiva students. He described the difficult situation we find ourselves in, and said it is incomprehensible how there are those who are ready to make compromises and selections. Besides this, such a law will in any case not pass the Zionist High Court, and it is a pity to flatter oneself or others; rather, one must separate completely from them. He strengthened the mosdos of the Eidah HaChareidis, especially the holy mosad Keren Hatzalah, which was the last mosad that the Divrei Yoel zt"l established before his passing, and which helps support all the mosdos of the Eidah HaChareidis. He praised the askanim of Mosdos Yotev Lev, which was the first mosad that the Divrei Yoel zt"l established after the war, who have put the mosad back on track and raised the support, and, Baruch Hashem, for several months now they have paid salaries on time. He thanked the askanim and donors. He concluded with praise for the holy Mesivta located at the kever, and urged the chassidim to support the yeshiva generously, ending with many blessings.

The Rebbe recited Birkas Hamazon over the cup. They concluded at around 10:40.

A few minutes later, the Rebbe entered for Maariv in the heichal of the beis medrash.

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Re'eh — Mevarchim Chodesh Elul — Shabbos Before the Holy Hilula of the Divrei Yoel zy"a — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before candle-lighting time, the Rebbe put the shtreimel on the chassanim:
- The chassan Shalom, son of R' Moshe Baruch Katz.
- The chassan Menachem Zev, son of R' Yisroel Shalom Ungar.

Friday night at around 8:40 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Avrohom Shalom Mendlowitz (Monsey). They finished at around 10:10. The congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 11:10 the Rebbe entered the tish in the Heichal HaMesivta together with the talmidei hayeshiva, and began Shalom Aleichem as usual, with emotion and sweetness.
- Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yissachar Ber Tov, son of the Rav of the Beirach Moshe beis medrash, HaGaon HaTzaddik shlit"a.
- Raising the cup: the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Meir Yuda Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of the Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash, HaGaon HaTzaddik shlit"a.

The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom bracha," and explained, in the manner of a derush, the sugya of chatzi shiur.

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered to daven at around 9:40.

The Rebbe recited Zochreinu verse by verse, and then approached the amud for Shacharis.

Before the Torah reading, the simcha of hachnasas sefer Torah took place, brought in by R' Aharon Yitzchak Dovid Landau. The Rebbe took the sefer Torah and led the holy dancing on the east side, and afterwards recited L'Dovid Mizmor as is customary.

For Mussaf the Rebbe approached the amud in honor of the holy hilula of 26 Av.
- Introduction to Ane'im Zemiros: R' Moshe Yitzchak Landau (Monsey).

After davening, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Avrohom Shlomo Kestenbaum, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
They finished at around 1:00.

At around 7:10 the Rebbe entered for Pirkei Avos in the heichal of the beis medrash. The Rebbe stood on Perek 5, Mishnah 20, "Yehuda ben Teima omer, hevei az k'namer etc. Yehi ratzon that the Beis HaMikdash be rebuilt speedily in our days and grant us our portion in Your Torah," and explained it in eight ways, in the manner of derush, aggadah and mussar.

At the end he spoke about the mehudar Kiryas Joel eruv, which encompasses Kiryas Joel and all the neighborhoods around Kiryas Joel for a total of dozens of miles, and brought out the problems that used to arise before there was one large eruv. He also noted that the eruv unites all of Kiryas Joel as one, and he urged the members of the community to support the eruv committee generously so that they can maintain one large "Kiryas Joel Eruv" and help with the large expenses it costs every week, for checking, repairing, etc. He concluded with his holy blessing. They finished at around 8:05 and the Rebbe went into his private room.

The Rebbe entered for Mincha at around 8:40.

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe gave out honors for the zemiros.

The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom bracha u'klala," and explained that the principle "there is no reward for a mitzvah in this world" applies only if one has the status of servants of Hashem; but if one has the status of children of Hashem, there is reward in this world — but then every aveira one commits is much harsher. He elaborated with words of mussar toward the month of Elul, which is coming to us for good, and strongly urged everyone to make a genuine cheshbon hanefesh about how one is conducting oneself in this world and to prepare properly for the Day of Judgment. He said that if we merit an elevated Elul, we will merit a bright month of Tishrei, emerge vindicated in judgment, and have a good year.

The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup and said Sheva Brachos.

For Maariv the Rebbe approached the amud on the night of the holy hilula, 26 Av.
After Havdalah, the congregation went over to wish a gutte voch.
They finished at around 11:00.

At around 12:30 the Rebbe went over to the home of R' Shalom Yitzchak Weinberger, where a signing of documents took place in which he purchased the merit of the Aron Kodesh and parochet in the new building of the Yeshiva Ketana, Kinyan Torah branch, in Monsey. A pleasant conversation took place about the growth and flourishing of our kehilla and holy mosdos in Monsey, and R' Hershel Wertheimer, a member of the yeshiva's administration, gave a report on the construction work on the first phase of the building, which is being prepared to open next week.
The Rebbe signed the documents together with the donor, drank a lechayim, and bestowed his holy blessing.
