Work is underway to provide more buses and routes due to the demand. The Rebbe expressed his great satisfaction and bestowed his holy blessing upon the askanim.

In the afternoon, at around 6:20, the Rebbe entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for Mincha and the Shabbos Shuvah drasha, in the presence of thousands of chassidim.
- Baal tefillah: R' Moshe Goldberger.

The Rebbe then sat down and began the Shabbos Shuvah drasha with an extended discourse of Torah analysis on the topic of chatzi shiur, along with several explanations in the manner of aggada. He then continued for over an hour with words of mussar. In the merit of the four soundings of the shofar on Rosh Hashana, we pray to Hashem that He nullify the decree of drafting yeshiva students, which encompasses three severe sins, as well as the continuous wars in Eretz Yisroel. The Rebbe strengthened the askanim who arranged extra buses for men in Kiryas Joel, and continued with chizuk regarding Torah learning, strengthening all the Torah shiurim. At the end he spoke in praise of the residents of Kiryas Joel, saying that the principals of the talmud torah and of the yeshivos say that one can see a difference in a child who lives in Kiryas Joel or in Kiryas Joel HaMurchovas. The Divrei Yoel zt"l founded the town, and one can recognize it in its residents, men, women and children. One must thank Hashem that we merit to live in Kiryas Joel, and one must take this into consideration when choosing where to live. He concluded with guidance and abundant blessings for the entire community.

The drasha ended at around 8:05 and the Rebbe recited Kaddish Derabbanan.

At around 1:35 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in the tallis and kapel of the holy Divrei Yoel zy"a, and wearing the kittel of his father, the holy Beirach Moshe zy"a. The Rebbe ascended to the Aron Kodesh and prayed a silent prayer, then began the festive drasha before the blowing of the shofar, on the verse "Ashrei ha'am yodei teruah." He explained that when Hashem looks upon a person, a blessing descends; therefore we ask "Hashkifah mi'meon kodshecha u'varech es amcha Yisroel," and this is what Avrohom Avinu prayed with the words "asher yei'amer hayom b'har Hashem yeira'eh," that Hashem should look upon Klal Yisroel,

and he spoke at length with words of mussar: when one considers that Hashem is looking at us, and how we look, sadly, smeared with aveiros, one must feel great shame. This feeling of shame alone is a remedy for a person, as Chazal say: "Whoever commits a sin and is ashamed, all his sins are forgiven." But one needs merit to be able to reach true shame. He urged that now, before the blowing of the shofar, we make a true cheshbon hanefesh, and perhaps in this way merit complete teshuva and true shame. He concluded with a blessing.

After the drasha the Rebbe recited Kaddish D'Rabbanan; they finished at around 1:55.
A bris for a newborn son took place at R' Yechezkel Shraga Landau (Montreal), where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.

Afterward the Rebbe shlit"a ascended to the bimah.
The Sifrei Torah were held by:

The Rebbe recited "Min HaMeitzar," made the blessings with holy fire, and blew the tekios d'meyushav. The baal makri was HaGaon HaGadol, the Dayan and Moreh Tzedek shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the Mussaf prayer and recited "Hineni He'ani Mima'as." Kaddish was at 2:45. The baal tokei'a for the tekios d'me'umad was HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Shlomo Zevil shlit"a, Dayan and Moreh Tzedek of Beis Dov beis medrash.

"Shluchei amcha Beis Yisroel ha'omdim levakesh tefillah v'sachanunim..." As on the first day, the prayers were one piece of holy emotion, with weeping from time to time and a voice hewing flames of fire, which stirred the entire expanse of the beis medrash.

The following were honored with the Pesichos at Mussaf:
- R' Avrohom Shalom Landau.
- R' Avrohom Meir Rosenwasser.

After Mussaf a bris for a newborn son took place at the grandson of the Rebbe, Rabbi Avrohom Yoshe Heshel Rokeach shlit"a.
The Rebbe shlit"a was honored with sandek and mohel. The sandek who held the baby while standing: HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Yisroel Shalom shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash. Brachos and naming: the Rebbe shlit"a. "V'yikarei shemo b'Yisroel": Meir, after the grandfather, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Kozlov zt"l.
After the bris, joyous melodies were sung and the Rebbe wished the congregation "Mazel tov."
Then Mincha was davened. Baal tefillah: Rabbi Isamar Meizlish shlit"a. For Shemoneh Esrei the Rebbe davened with the tallis over his head. They finished at around 6:10.

The Rebbe washed for the seudas bris in his holy home together with the family.

At around 7:45 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for the continuation of the holy tish, the closing of the days of Rosh Hashana and the seudas bris, in the main beis medrash.

Kugel and sweet carrots were brought in. Melodies of the Yamim Noraim were sung, and Rabbi Hershel Kahn shlit"a sang a traditional melody of the holy R' Yisroel of Pikov zy"a, son of the holy Kedushas Levi zy"a.

- Atah Nigleisa: HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Yisroel Shalom shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash.
- Yom L'Yabasha: the baal bris, Rabbi Avrohom Yoshe Heshel Rokeach shlit"a.

The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Tiku vachodesh shofar bakeseh l'yom chageinu," explaining that Hashem has the law of a husband toward a wife in relation to Klal Yisroel: a wife who broke a vessel in her husband's house is exempt. When a Jew commits an aveira, even though he damages the upper worlds, he is exempt. Likewise, a get given when the husband is near is not effective; since Hashem's glory fills the whole earth, no get from Hashem to Klal Yisroel can take effect. And Klal Yisroel has the law of a wife toward her husband with respect to Hashem, and is therefore obligated in the obligations of a husband to a wife. He concluded with abundant blessings, saying that "zman cheiruseinu" has the numerical value of the year 5787, and that this year should be a "zman cheiruseinu": freedom from the yetzer hara, freedom from the Malach HaMaves, freedom from every worry and anguish, and freedom from the golus. "There is no free person except one who engages in Torah," a year of Torah study, until the coming of the true Redeemer, b'Bias Go'el Tzedek, Amen.

The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup, and honored the family members with the Harachaman prayers.

- Maariv of Motzei Yom Tov: R' Shalom Meir Eckstein.
After Havdalah the Rebbe wished the entire congregation "a gutte voch, a gut yahr," and thanked the singers.
They finished at around 9:00, and the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and music.

May our prayers be accepted with mercy and favor.

On the morning of the first day of Yom Tov, the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 8:25.

The Rebbe shlit"a poured out his holy tefillos between himself and his Maker, with a torn and embittered heart, pleading for mercy like a poor man at the door, with awesome weeping that was heard throughout the entire beis medrash and made the hearts of the thousands of mispallelim tremble.
The Rebbe recited the berachos aloud, and afterwards the baal tefillah began singing Adon Olam. Pesukei D'zimra: HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Shalom Friedman shlit"a, one of the heads of the kollelim. Shacharis: the HaGaon HaGadol, the Dayan and Moreh Tzedek shlit"a.

- Returning the Sefer Torah: R' Meir Efraim Grossman and R' Hershel Brach

They finished at 12:20. There was a pause, and the Rebbe went to the mikvah and then to his private room.

At 1:25 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in the tallis and wearing the kappel of the Divrei Yoel zy"a. The Rebbe ascended to the aron kodesh, davened a silent tefillah, and began the festive 'Tekias Shofar drasha' on the text "V'seten lanu Hashem Elokeinu yom zikaron teruah." He explained that Hashem set aside the sound of the shofar from the time the Beis HaMikdash stood, and that it is heard to this very day. Even when Rosh Hashana falls on Shabbos, when the shofar is not blown, we are still awakened to teshuva through that shofar blast. He elaborated with words of mussar: from eating, a person becomes satiated regardless of what he eats, but a melody or a sight must be of the finest quality. When the shofar is blown, salvations are brought about in Heaven no matter how it is blown. But when Rosh Hashana falls on Shabbos, when there is only a "remembrance of teruah," it must be of the finest quality, and every Jew must daven with a full heart and do teshuva completely, and only then can we accomplish what is normally accomplished through the blowing of the shofar. He concluded with much blessing.

After the drasha, the Rebbe said Kaddish D'Rabbanan. They finished at around 1:45.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud for Mussaf and recited Hineni He'ani Mima'as, and began Kaddish at around 1:50. The Rebbe davened from a machzor, Nusach Tefillah Yesharah.

Standing before the aron kodesh in awe, with Your people surrounding them like a wall, joining in the holy service with awe and reverence, with arousal and holy emotion during Mussaf, especially during the pesukim of Malchiyos, Zichronos and Shofaros, with a carving voice and a heart poured out like water, the eyes of Your people look to You and their eyes long for You.

Honored with the openings at Mussaf were:
- R' Mordechai Landau
- R' Yaakov Mittelman
- R' Yosef Klein
- R' Berel Palatchek
- R' Moshe Goldstein
- R' Chaim Yaakov Gutman

- R' Yitzchak Eliakim Schwartz and R' Yoel Pollak were honored with lifting the Rebbe at Kor'im.

- Kavei: R' Yitzchak Ehrenfeld
- Opening of Ne'im Zemiros: R' Berel son of R' Meir Palatchek
They finished at around 4:50.

At the afternoon Yom Tov seudah in his holy home, the Rebbe honored R' Moshe Falkowitz with the zemiros.
The Rebbe said on the verse "Tikku vachodesh shofar bakeseh l'yom chagenu" and explained that teshuva helps even though "one who was seen and then cast away does not return to be seen." Since a Jew will rise at techiyas hamesim, he is therefore judged like a living being and is not cast away. This is learned from the moon, which wanes each month and shines again anew each month.

- Birchas Hamazon: his grandson Rabbi Lipa Ashkenazi shlit"a (the bochur), son of his son-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Even Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a.

The Rebbe entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at around 7:15.
- Baal tefillah: R' Aharon Spitzer
- Hotzaah and hachnasah: R' Nechemia Shlomo Wertzberger (Monsey)
- Kohen: R' Yitzchak Pinchas Glantzer
- Levi: R' Avrohom Yitzchak Landau (Williamsburg)
- Shlishi: R' Eliezer Dovid Epstein
- Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a
- Gelilah: Rabbi Yoel son of R' Yehuda Weinberger shlit"a

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored the following with the zemiros:
- Odeh: R' Aharon Hersh Mittelman (the bochur)
- Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein

The Rebbe said Torah on the piyut "B'ein maliz yosher mul magid pesha" and explained that in the merit of our hoping for the complete geulah anew each year, teshuva also helps each year. He illustrated it with the saying of the holy R' Zusha zy"a, who would do teshuva every night and tell Hashem that although yesterday he also said he would be honest, today he means it truly. The same applies to the shofar blast: although the Satan knows that last year the shofar was also blown and still the Jews were not helped, he is confused anew each year, as he fears that perhaps the Jewish children truly mean it this year.

- Yedid Nefesh: Rabbi Moshe Eli Gross shlit"a (Williamsburg)
- Kel Mistatter: Rabbi Eli Gross shlit"a
The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup, and went to his private room.

At around 8:45 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash for Maariv.
- Baal tefillah: Rabbi Dovid son of R' Moshe Eckstein shlit"a
They finished at around 9:20. After Maariv the Rebbe ascended to the aron kodesh and wished the entire congregation "A gut yom tov, a gut gebentsht yohr," and went home to his holy residence.

At around 11:25 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Yom Tov seudah in the dining hall.
- Lifting the cup: Rabbi Yoel Yisroel Wagschal (Monsey)
On the table were seven fruits. The Rebbe made a berachah on a date and tasted the Shehecheyanu fruits, and distributed shirayim from the simanim to the entire assembly.
At the tables, the Rebbe distributed shirayim to the guests from London.

The Rebbe honored HaGaon Rabbi Yitzchak Shalom Friedman shlit"a, moreh tzedek, with the zemiros.

The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Yekimcha Hashem lo l'am kadosh" and explained that the shofar blast awakens the same power as Matan Torah and draws out the physicality from Jewish hearts, and in this way we are awakened to teshuva.

Yom Tov of Rosh Hashana 5787, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Yom Tov at around 7:50, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went up to daven Mincha with great fervor. After Mincha, he recited the piyut "Achos Ketana," as is customary.

After Mincha, an appeal was held for the Mivtzar HaKollelim, with its more than 1,100 kollel members. The director of the kollelim, HaGaon Rabbi R' Wolf Aharon Teller shlit"a, spoke.

The Rebbe went up to Kabbalas Shabbos and Maariv. He recited "Mizmor L'Dovid, Havu L'Hashem Bnei Eilim" verse by verse, and after Maariv "L'Dovid Mizmor" with great fire and holiness, as is customary. The davening concluded at around 9:40.

After davening, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the Aron Kodesh for the "Birchas HaKodesh" and delivered a Torah thought on the verse "You are standing today, all of you, before Hashem your G-d." He explained that Birchas Kohanim is both a general blessing and a personal blessing for each individual according to what he needs, because it comes from the Name Havaya. This is the "he shall receive a blessing from Hashem." The shofar alludes to the Name Havaya, or Shabbos Kodesh, from which a blessing also descends through the Name Havaya. Therefore, when Rosh Hashana falls on Shabbos, there is no need for the blowing of the shofar. He concluded with abundant blessings in all matters: healing, parnassah, shidduchim, children, upright generations, and that the bochurim be freed from the military. He said that "chadu hashata b'hai sha'ata" has the numerical value of Tashpaz (5787), and may it be a year of joy and gladness in the homes of the Jewish people, and a year of redemption and salvation with the coming of the righteous redeemer speedily. He wished the entire holy congregation "a good Shabbos and a good Yom Tov, may you be inscribed and sealed immediately for a good life and for peace."
All the people answered "Amen" in a mighty voice, and "Baruch Yomru" in response. The thousands of Jews returned the Rebbe's blessing of "a good year," and he too answered "Amen" to those blessing him, and wished a good Shabbos and a good Yom Tov.

After coming down, the Rebbe shlit"a wished an additional "a good year" to the Gaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, and went home.

At around 11:25, the Rebbe entered the tish in the Heichal HaShulchanos. "Shalom Aleichem" was sung until "Modeh Ani."
- Lifting the cup: R' Yitzchak Ehrenfeld.
After Kiddush, the Rebbe cut the challah with a new knife and dipped it in honey, raw honey, and made the Borei Pri HaEitz blessing on apples dipped in honey. He recited the yehi ratzon that a good and sweet year be renewed upon us, and distributed shirayim of the apple to the entire congregation.

The head of a lamb was brought in. The Rebbe tasted it and recited the yehi ratzon "that we be as the head and not the tail," and at the lechayim he wished "a good, blessed year."
A fish head was brought in, along with the Shabbos and Yom Tov foods. In the soup were toasted noodles, as is customary. After the meat, sweet carrots were served, and the Rebbe recited the yehi ratzon "that our merits increase."

For the zemiros, "L'Dovid Mizmor," the Rebbe honored R' Eliyahu Neustadt.

The Rebbe delivered a Torah thought on the simanim eaten on the night of Rosh Hashana. He explained that through an aveira lishma or teshuva me'ahava, one brings down abundance of kindness for Klal Yisroel and a downfall for the nations of the world. The shofar is blown twice on Rosh Hashana even though it is bal tosif, which is an aveira lishma, in accordance with the enactment of Chazal. Therefore, with the tekios d'me'umad it is certainly urgent. Shabbos Kodesh brings down love, so there is no need for the blowing of the shofar. That is why every year Rosh Hashana contains both "that our merits increase" and "that our enemies be cut off."

- Birchas HaMazon: R' Eliyahu Shaul Katz (of Boro Park).
- "Az B'yom HaShevi'i": Rabbi Yosef Meir Schmidman shlit"a (of Monsey).
The tish concluded at around 1:00.
