Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Va'eschanan - Nachamu: Aliyah L'Torah of the Rebbe's Grandson, the Chosson HaRav Asher Anshil Ashkenazi, Son of the Chasan Dabon, HaGaon Rav Dbeis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a; 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

On Erev Shabbos afternoon, before candle-lighting time, the Rebbe arrived at the home of his mechutan, HaGaon Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, and placed the shtreimel on his grandson, the chosson HaRav Asher Anshil Ashkenazi shlit"a.
The Rebbe also placed the shtreimel on the chassanim:
The chosson Avrohom Ever, son of Yehuda Hersh Schwartz.
The chosson Aviezer Mordechai, son of Yoel Schwartz.

From there the Rebbe shlit"a left with the chosson and the escorts on the way to the beis medrash, accompanied with song and music. At around 8:25 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash, wrapped in his tallis, and went to the amud for Mincha. Kabbolas Shabbos: the Rebbe's grandson HaRav Menachem Shlomo Ashkenazi shlit"a (Monticello). The davening ended at around 10:00. The crowd went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room.

At around 10:45 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Friday night seudah in the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash together with the talmidei hamesivta and members of the family, and began, as is his custom, 'Shalom Aleichem' with feeling and melody.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the chosson HaRav Asher Anshil Ashkenazi. Raising the cup for Kiddush: the Rebbe's mechutan, HaGaon Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored various people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, dayan of our kehilla in Yerushalayim. Menucha V'simcha: HaRav R' Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, moreh tzedek of the Beis Shmuel Binyomin beis medrash.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Va'eschanan el Hashem ba'eis hahi laimor," and explained it in the manner of a drush on the sugya of whether a positive commandment that precedes the utterance overrides a negative commandment that follows the utterance.

Stories and anecdotes: this week the Rebbe shlit"a told over about the holy Rabbi Sender'l of Komarna zt"l, whose yahrzeit fell on Thursday, 21 Av. The Rebbe shlit"a honored HaRav HaTzaddik R' Yaakov Shimon Ernster shlit"a (Yerushalayim) with Kah Ribon Olam: HaRav Boruch Ernster shlit"a (Boro Park).

The new chassanim passed by to take fruit, and the Shalom Zachor took place for the bochur Boruch Mordechai Ackerman, whose bris is on the eighth day: HaRav Shlomo Hersh Rosenfeld (Williamsburg). The singing of joyous melodies continued until around 1:40, and then the Rebbe shlit"a walked home to his holy residence.

And on the day of Shabbos Kodesh

On Shabbos Kodesh morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis in the main beis medrash at around 9:40. Pesukei D'zimra: the Rebbe's grandson HaRav Lipa Ashkenazi shlit"a (Boro Park). The Rebbe shlit"a went to the amud for Shacharis.

After his aliyah, the Rebbe shlit"a recited the Mi Sheberach and gave names in honor of the birth of a daughter for the following baalei simcha:

After davening, the Kiddusha Rabba simcha took place in the Polish room in the main beis medrash. The Rebbe made Kiddush and blessed the chosson, the mechutanim and the entire tzibbur. Joyous melodies were sung, and the Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, the mechutan, spoke. Afterwards the Rebbe said short divrei Torah in honor of the simcha. It ended at around 1:00.
The Rebbe shlit"a conducted the afternoon tish with family members in the hall of his holy residence. The Rebbe honored the following with the zemiros: Boruch Hashem: HaRav Dovid Teitelbaum shlit"a, son of HaGaon Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Boruch Kel Elyon: HaRav Yoel Teitelbaum shlit"a, son of HaGaon Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse 'Nachamu nachamu ami yomar Elokeichem'. The word "yomar" has the same letters as "Meir," and he explained in the manner of a drush that Rabbi Meir, according to his view that one can be mekadesh with a loan, the kiddushin on the Jewish children took effect through the Exodus from Egypt. Birchas Hamazon: the chosson HaRav Asher Anshil Ashkenazi shlit"a.

For Mincha and Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 8:30. Mincha: R' Yoel Berish Hirsch. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: HaRav Yitzchak Twersky shlit"a (Yerushalayim). Kohen: R' Shlomo Berish Katz. Levi: R' Shmuel Berger (Williamsburg). Shlishi: HaGaon R' Mordechai Betzalel Klein shlit"a, Rav and dayan of Satmar Lakewood. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Yaakov Hersh Neustadt (Williamsburg).

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the following with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir Hamaalos: R' Yitzchak Frankel (Montreal).

In the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a focused on the verse 'Nachamu nachamu ami yomar Elokeichem' and explained: what is the consolation for the Jewish children, after being in the long exile for nearly 2,000 years? The consolation is that the Jewish children remained with pure faith even through all the difficult and broken times, and in that merit we will be redeemed and merit the great insights and lights that will descend through the Menachem Tzion, the builder of Yerushalayim.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Naftali Lebowitz. Kel Mistater: R' Shimon Ozer Mittelman (Williamsburg). Before bentching, the singing of melodies continued in honor of the simcha. The Rebbe shlit"a recited the blessing over the cup.

Maariv on Motzei Shabbos: the Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, the mechutan. After Havdalah the crowd went over to wish a gutte voch. It ended at 10:55.

On Motzei Shabbos at around 12:00, the siyum of the writing of the letters for a Sefer Torah, donated by the residents of the Broadway Estates neighborhood in Monticello, took place in his holy residence. The Rebbe wrote in the letters. Afterwards a lechayim gathering took place in which a conversation developed about expanding the boundaries of holiness in various areas across the Catskills, and the Rebbe bestowed from his holy blessings.

Friday, Parshas Vaeschanan 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the heichal of the Mesivta, Divrei Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
A grandson of the holy Rebbe zy"a, son of HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, rav of our holy kehilla in Bloomingrove.

After davening, the bochurim went over to greet the Rebbe. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

In the afternoon hours, a lechayim gathering was held in the Rebbe's holy home in honor of the engagement of the mechutanim R' Naftali Hirtzka Stein and R' Aryeh Leibush Teitelbaum.

After drinking the lechayim, the Rebbe wished abundant mazel tov blessings to the chosson and kallah, to the distinguished mechutanim, the grandfathers and all the relatives.

Thursday, Parshas Vaeschanan — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the following bar mitzvah bochurim:
The twins, sons of R' Avrohom Shmuel Schwartz.
The bochur Yaakov Yechezkel Weiss.

During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for shlishi. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the heichal of the beis medrash.

In the morning hours, the Rebbe went on his weekly visit to the glatt kosher slaughterhouse.

In the evening, the Rebbe shlit"a officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim R' Elazar Weinstein (Monsey) and R' Avrohom Amram Markovitch, at the Beis Rochel hall in Paradise.

At around 8:30 the Rebbe shlit"a davened Mincha in his holy home on Ahel Court. Afterwards, there was a time of entry to the Rebbe's holy room (zmanei kenissah) until 12:50 at night.

During the time of entry, the Skulen Rebbe shlit"a, who is currently vacationing in Kiryas Joel for these weeks, came for a visit. A pleasant conversation ensued about the miraculous rescue of the Skulener Rebbe zt"l.
The Skulen Rebbe asked the Rebbe shlit"a for permission to remain for Shabbos and conduct his tish in the Rebbe's place in Kiryas Joel, and he also invited the Rebbe shlit"a to honor with his presence the annual Skulen seudas hodaah, which will take place this Motzei Shabbos in the Beis Rochel auditorium in Kiryas Joel.
The Rebbe shlit"a honored him with a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings upon him, and then accompanied him out to the street.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in the tenaim hall in his holy home for the following mechutanim:
R' Binyamin Klein and R' Avrohom Shmuel Farkash.
R' Yoel Mendlowitz and R' Yoel Rubinstein.

At around 12:50 the Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home. After Maariv, a conversation developed about the greatness of Tu B'Av. The Rebbe explained that, as is known, the day is auspicious for shidduchim, and warmly wished the bochurim present that they find suitable matches soon.

Wednesday, Parshas Va'eschanan — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Shacharis at around 8:45. The baal tefillah was HaRav HaTzaddik R' Chaim Elazar Weiss shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Chmelnik-Monsey. After davening, the tzibbur went over to bid farewell to the Rebbe shlit"a. The Rebbe thanked the loyal attendant of the beis medrash, HaRav R' Fishel Farkash, and then the Rebbe walked home.

At around 3:10 the Rebbe left his holy residence in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, on the way to the nearby Mount Washington Regional Airport, where the Rebbe took off at 3:40 on a private plane on the way home, after spending the last four weeks resting.

At around 4:30 the plane landed at Kingston Ulster Airport, from where the Rebbe traveled to Fleischmanns for a visit to the camps of our holy yeshivos of Boro Park.

Upon arrival at around 5:30, the Rebbe first went to visit the Spinka Rebbe, Beis Yitzchak shlit"a, who is staying there during the summer weeks. A pleasant conversation in Torah and Chassidus ensued. The Spinka Rebbe shlit"a honored the Rebbe shlit"a with fruit and lechayim, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings.

From there the Rebbe went to the talmud torah of the camp. The children sang several nigunim, and the Rebbe addressed the children with brief holy words and a blessing.

The Rebbe then entered the hall of the beis medrash of our holy yeshiva, Yeshiva Gedolah Vayoel Moshe, where the chanukas habayis ceremony for the new, magnificent beis medrash took place. Several nigunim were sung, and the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Rubin shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Rzeszów, spoke and warmly welcomed the Rebbe shlit"a. The Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the Rosh Yeshiva, the maggidei shiur and all the bochurim well, and delivered longer holy words of guidance.

The Rebbe then went to visit the HaGaon Av Beis Din of Rzeszów shlit"a. A longer conversation ensued, with stories and accounts of the holy Divrei Chaim zy"a and of the connection of the Kedushas Yom Tov zy"a with the Tzanzer Rav zy"a. The Rzeszów Rav shlit"a honored the Rebbe shlit"a with lechayim, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessings.
From there the Rebbe went to visit our holy yeshiva, the Yeshiva Ketana branch of Vayoel Moshe, under the direction of HaRav HaGaon R' Yitzchak Aharon Green shlit"a. The bochurim sang several nigunim, and the menahel shlit"a spoke. The Rebbe drank lechayim and wished well to the rebbeim of the yeshiva and all the bochurim, and delivered holy words of guidance to the bochurim.

After the lechayim the Rebbe davened Mincha in the beis medrash, where the talmidim of the Yeshiva Gedolah also davened along.

A few minutes after Mincha, the Rebbe went back into the beis medrash where the bochurim were sitting and learning. The Rebbe walked among the bochurim for an extended time with great nachas, and engaged in learned discussion with the bochurim over their studies.

At around 9:00 the Rebbe left Fleischmanns on the way to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel, where the Rebbe arrived at around 10:15. Talmidei hayeshiva and anshei shlomeinu waited and greeted the Rebbe. At around 10:30 the Rebbe davened Maariv in his holy residence.

When the tzaddik is in the city, he is its splendor, its glory and its majesty.

Tuesday, Va'eschanan — "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Shacharis at around 8:50.
Baal tefillah: HaRav HaChosid R' Yochanan Shor (Boro Park). After davening the guests came to take their leave, and the Rebbe walked home.

During the morning hours, a group of outstanding bochurim from Yeshiva Ketana, Branch Rav Tuv of Kiryas Joel, under the direction of HaRav HaGaon R' Wolf Landau shlit"a, presented themselves for an examination before the Rebbe shlit"a on the deck in the courtyard of his holy residence, on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah, part 1. The Rebbe examined the bochurim for an extended time with great nachas, and afterward bestowed of his holy blessings.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Mincha at around 8:50. Between Mincha and Maariv the Rebbe engaged in Torah study in the beis medrash. At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, around 9:15, he davened Maariv. After Maariv the Rebbe walked home.
After Maariv, a group of talmidim of Yeshivas Mesivta of Lakewood entered his holy residence in a private audience. The Rebbe inquired about their studies and delivered brief words of guidance to the bochurim.

Monday, Parshas Va'eschanan — "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, at the vacation location in Bethlehem, New Hampshire

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Shacharis at around 8:50.
Baal tefillah: the bochur Chaim Binyamin Kahana shlit"a (Kiryas Joel).
Aliyos: Kohen: R' Yaakov, son of R' Yisroel Friedman (Kiryas Joel); Levi: R' Shlomo Heimlich (Kiryas Joel); Shlishi: the Rebbe shlit"a; Hagbah: the bochur Avrohom Shmuel Friedlander (Kiryas Joel); Gelilah: the bochur Avrohom Yehoshua Gefen (Kiryas Joel).

After davening the guests came to take their leave, and there was a chalaka for the son of R' Dovid Weiss (Kiryas Joel). The Rebbe cut the hair and put on the tzitzis and yarmulke, drank a lechayim and blessed the entire congregation, and then walked home.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Mincha at around 8:45. Between Mincha and Maariv the Rebbe engaged in Torah study in the beis medrash. At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, around 9:15, he davened Maariv. After Maariv the Rebbe walked home.
