Sunday, Parshas Shoftim, 2nd day of Rosh Chodesh Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin with the following bar mitzvah bochurim:
The bochur Yoel Chaim Moshe Miller.
The bochur Yechezkel Meshulam Glauber.
The bochur Shmuel Efraim Gold.

The Rebbe shlit"a went up to the amud for Hallel. "L'Dovid Hashem Ori" was recited immediately after Shacharis. During the Torah reading, the Rebbe received the fourth aliyah. After davening, the Rebbe shlit"a blew the shofar, and then said 10 chapters of Tehillim, as is customary during the days of Elul. Afterward, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

In the afternoon, at around 4:15, the Rebbe traveled to Kiryas Yoel Moshe in Monticello for the hachnasas sefer Torah at the great beis medrash "Zichron Yechiel Michel." The Rebbe came at the invitation of the donor of the Torah, the distinguished R' Yitzchak Zev Filaff.
The Rebbe arrived at approximately 5:00. The Rebbe first davened Mincha in one of the prayer rooms of the beis medrash, then entered the main sanctuary of the beis medrash, took the Sefer Torah from the donor, and danced for an extended time with holy, fiery fervor. He also honored the donor, R' Yitzchak Zev, to dance. Afterward, the Rebbe recited "L'Dovid Mizmor" as is customary.
After Kaddish, a lechayim gathering took place in the sanctuary of the beis medrash. HaGaon Rabbi Shalom Teitelbaum shlit"a, av beis din of the kehilla, spoke a few brief words. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly blessed the esteemed donor and his entire family with the blessing of Torah, and delivered a few brief holy words to the assembled, basing himself on the verse in the parsha, "Prepare the way for yourself and divide it into three parts." He spoke in praise of the magnificent beis medrash Zichron Yechiel Michel, which is a veritable "talpiyos," a source from which so much Torah, avodah, and acts of kindness emanate, and concluded with a blessing. The event ended at around 6:10.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the following mechutanim:

Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Re'eh, 1 Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

On Friday night at around 8:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Yoshe Glick (Monsey).

Davening ended at around 9:40. The crowd went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room.

A short while after davening, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos table in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta, and began, in his holy way, "Shalom Aleichem" with emotion and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yisroel Dushinsky, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of Beis Medrash Ohel Feiga shlit"a. Lifting of the cup for Kiddush: R' Pesach Eckstein (Yerushalayim).

For the zemiros, the Rebbe shlit"a honored his grandsons, the sons of the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a. Menucha V'Simcha: Rabbi Avrohom Rokeach shlit"a.

On Shabbos Kodesh morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered at 9:40. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Shraga Gandel shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a recited Zachreinu verse by verse, and approached the amud for Shacharis and Hallel.

After davening, the bris of the newborn son of R' Mordechai Yitzchok Gefen took place, at which the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel. It ended at 1:20.

At the afternoon meal in his holy home, an extra kugel was brought in honor of Shabbos Rosh Chodesh. For Barchi Nafshi, the Rebbe honored his grandson, the bochur Yoel, son of the Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Birchas Hamazon: his grandson Rabbi Avrohom Rokeach shlit"a.
In the afternoon at around 6:55, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Pirkei Avos. The Rebbe took up Chapter 5, Mishnah 7, "Seven things are in a wise man: he does not speak before one who is greater than him in wisdom… and about what he did not hear he says, 'I did not hear'", and explained it in 15 ways, in the manner of derush, aggadah and mussar. At the end, the Rebbe shlit"a spoke in praise of the residents of Kiryas Joel, who still carry the influence of the holy Rebbe, founder of the Kiryas, zy"a, and of how many thousands of women gathered to listen and accept upon themselves; likewise, regarding technology, even where it is not forbidden, they hold themselves back entirely. He concluded with words of encouragement toward the holy days, that if one uses all the hours of the month for teshuva and rectifying one's deeds, one will be saved from every trouble and distress. It ended at around 7:55, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

In the Torah he said, the Rebbe shlit"a took up the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem" and explained that when one does teshuva, one can only do teshuva for what one remembers and not for what has been forgotten. If one conducts oneself with kindness and mercy, showing that one is concerned for the world's continued existence, then, so to speak, Hashem too is concerned for the world's continued existence and forgives even that which a person no longer remembers. Moreover, Hashem, who remembers all that is forgotten, remembers everything, so that if one merits, all intentional sins become merits.

For Maariv on Motzei Shabbos, the Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud on the occasion of the holy hilula of the Yitav Lev zy"a this week. After Havdalah, people went over to wish a gut voch. It ended at 10:35.

Thursday, Parshas Re'eh — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, brissim took place.
For the newborn son of R' Moshe Baruch Katz, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.
For the newborn son of R' Yoel Teitelbaum, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.
For the newborn son of R' Berel Wertzberger, where the Rebbe was sandek.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, Sniff Beirach Moshe. Before davening, the Rebbe laid tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Avrohom Shmuel Yermiash.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for shlishi. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in the Rebbe's private room.

At around 12:30, the Rebbe shlit"a entered Heichal HaYeshiva for the Yom Kippur Katan tefillos, during which the Rebbe prayed at length with awe-inspiring weeping. The baal tefillah was HaGaon R' Shmuel Krois shlit"a, a rebbe in the yeshiva. They concluded at 1:20.

At around 7:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home. After Mincha, the Rebbe went over to the yeshiva ketana "Sniff Yiteiv Panim," under the direction of HaGaon R' Chaim Leib Zilberstein shlit"a, for the hachnasas sefer Torah, which was written by R' Mendel Friedman and his sons, l'ilui nishmas his son, the bochur Aharon Friedman a"h, together with the talmidim of the yeshiva, in memory of the esteemed talmid, one of the yeshiva's outstanding students. The Rebbe took the Sefer Torah and danced for an extended time with fiery enthusiasm, and then honored the grandfathers with dancing, and the father, R' Menachem Mendel, and then R' Yaakov Friedman, and the principal of the yeshiva. After the dancing, the Rebbe recited "L'Dovid Mizmor" as is customary.

After the hachnasas sefer Torah, at around 8:20, the Rebbe went over to the home of R' Avrohom Weider, where the Rebbe attended the annual event for the benefit of "Mosad Rav Tuv" for the Ukrainian refugees. An extended conversation developed with those present about the efforts on behalf of the Ukrainian refugees, and memories of the holy Divrei Yoel zt"l from before the war. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings.

Entry times for private audiences (yechidus) were from 8:45 until 12:50 at night.

During the entry times, a lechayim gathering was held in the Rebbe's presence with the leaders of our holy kehilla and the members of the Kiryas Joel administration of Bloomingrove, headed by HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, rav of our holy kehilla in Bloomingrove, on the occasion of the purchase of a huge parcel of land in the heart of the Bloomingrove neighborhood, in the vicinity of Kiryas Joel, where the great beis medrash of our holy kehilla in the Bloomingrove neighborhoods will soon be built. A lengthy conversation took place about further plans to expand the borders of holiness in Bloomingrove. The Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings.

Wednesday, Parshas Re'eh — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before Shacharis, brisos took place.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Yoel Moshe branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:

the bochur Yoel Herskovits;
the bochur Yisroel Mordechai Stern;
the bochur Pinchas Mendlovits.

After davening, the Rebbe said over the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 13, verse 6. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the beis medrash hall.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe went up to the Heichal HaYeshiva, Beirach Moshe branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the talmidim of the yeshiva in his private room.

At around 7:00, the Rebbe went over to the Yeshiva Ketana, Yitav Panim branch, under the administration of HaRav R' Chaim Leib Silberstein shlit"a, where a siyum on the writing of a Sefer Torah took place. The Sefer Torah is being written by R' Mendel Friedman, the sofer, and his sons, in memory of his son the bochur Aharon Friedman a"h, together with the talmidim of the yeshiva, l'iluy nishmas the distinguished talmid, one of the outstanding students of the yeshiva. It is being brought in today, Thursday, to the yeshiva's hall. Songs of inspiration and attachment to Torah were sung, and R' Mordechai Dovid Oestreicher spoke, with rhymed verses in honor of the occasion and words of appreciation for the departed bochur Aharon a"h. Afterwards, the menahel shlit"a presented the Rebbe with a book containing the names of the talmidim of the yeshiva who learned ten thousand hours as preparation for the hachnasas Sefer Torah. The Rebbe wrote in the final letters while the songs of inspiration continued.
Afterwards, the Rebbe drank l'chaim and warmly wished the family, the rebbeim of the yeshiva and all the talmidim well, and delivered a few brief words of Torah.
After the words of Torah, the Rebbe performed hagbah and danced with the open Sefer Torah. The father, R' Mendel, was honored with gelilah. Then the Rebbe broke into a fiery dance with the Sefer Torah, dancing with great fervor, and honored the father, the grandfathers, the family and the rebbeim of the yeshiva to dance. It concluded at around 8:00.

In the evening, at around 8:10, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Ohel Street. Afterwards, there were times of entry to the Rebbe until 12:10 at night.

During the entry times, the siyum of the writing of the letters took place for the Sefer Torah being written by R' Eliezer Mordechai Rosenthal of Lakewood. The Rebbe wrote in the letters and bestowed from his holy blessings.

A warm conversation developed about the chinuch institutions in Eretz Yisroel, especially the Talmud Torah Noam Elimelech, which the Rav shlit"a carries. The Rav shlit"a praised the great generosity received from the residents of Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe honored him with a lechayim, bestowed from his holy blessings, gave him as a gift the sefer Lev Aharon on the Torah, and escorted him out.

Tuesday, Parshas Re'eh, 25 Menachem Av, the yahrzeit of the Rebbe zy"a — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the yeshiva building at his kever, Heichal HaMesivta, Divrei Yoel branch, together with a large crowd of chassidim and the talmidim of the Mesivta. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

Afterward, the Rebbe shlit"a lit 5 candles and went down before the amud with outpouring of the soul. The Rebbe's grandson, the young Meir Eliezer, son of HaGaon Rabbi, Rav of the Beis Medrash, Berach Moshe shlit"a, approached for the brachos and Tehillim.

After davening, at around 12:00, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the lechayim gathering before going up to the holy tziyun, amid a great crowd and royal splendor. Songs of arousal were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochurim and the entire gathering well. The Rebbe then concluded the Six Orders of Mishnah that had been learned by the talmidim of the Mesivta, and recited Kaddish.
The Rebbe shlit"a delivered holy words of preparation and arousal before visiting the holy tziyun.

After the lechayim gathering, at about 12:50, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the distinguished tziyun. The Rebbe lit 5 candles along with a neshama candle, and recited the prayer "Shalom Aleichem" of the Yismach Moshe zy"a with awesome weeping. He then recited Tehillim from chapter 90 through 107 as is customary, and said "Den Yehi Ratzon" with outpouring of the soul. The Rebbe then learned chapters of Mishnayos and recited Kaddish D'Rabbanan.
The Rebbe shlit"a read kvitlach for an extended time, and the songs of arousal that used to be sung in the beis medrash of the Baal HaHilula were sung. The Rebbe also laid down the packages containing thousands of kvitlach from the righteous women at the large gathering on the night of the hilula. The Rebbe then prostrated himself on the holy tziyun for an extended time. They concluded at around 1:45.

In the afternoon hours, the members of the committee for publishing the Rebbe's seforim entered the Rebbe's room and showed the Rebbe the new sefer "Lev Aharon - Chiddushim" on Maseches Rosh Hashana and Sukkah, which had just come off the press. The Rebbe reviewed it with great emotion and said "Baruch Shehechiyanu V'kiyemanu Lazman Hazeh," and bestowed his holy blessings upon those engaged in the holy work.

In the afternoon, at around 5:30, a meeting took place with all the chinuch committees of our holy mosdos from Greater New York, where various spiritual matters concerning our holy mosdos that are currently on the agenda were discussed.
At about 6:45 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home. Before davening, the Rebbe lit 5 candles and went down before the amud.

In the evening, at around 8:15, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the central seudas hilula in the beis medrash of the Baal HaHilula in the Large Beis Medrash. The Rebbe washed for the seudah and honored the pure table. He then made the siyum on Shas and the Six Orders of Mishnah, which had been learned by the Chevra Shas of our holy kehilla, then recited the Hadran and Kaddish. At the lechayim after the fish, the Rebbe wished "Zechuso Yagen Aleinu V'al Kol Yisroel."
During the tish, songs of deveikus and longing that were sung in the beis medrash of the Baal HaHilula were sung. With a "Michtam L'Dovid," the Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Yosef Wertzberger shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Hunyad, Kiryas Joel.

At around 9:45 the Rebbe shlit"a began the holy words, words of chizuk and mussar and the obligations of the hour regarding current matters. The Rebbe based his remarks on the verse "Re'eh Anochi Nosein Lifneichem HaYom Bracha U'klala," and explained it according to the teachings of the Baal HaHilula, and spoke about his greatness and righteousness, how everything he said was for the honor of Heaven, and the many accomplishments the Rebbe zy"a achieved, in general and in particular.
The Rebbe mentioned the large gathering for women of tznius and modesty in the courtyard of the beis medrash, and spoke of the nachas ruach that the Rebbe zy"a has in the World Above. He praised the askanim who helped with their efforts and their money, and the full acceptances that the righteous women took upon themselves in matters of tznius, for which the Rebbe zy"a is surely a melitz yosher. He said "Koh Somar L'Veis Yaakov V'sageid L'Bnei Yisroel": to the women one must speak in soft language, and to the men in strong language, words as hard as sinews. It is a disgrace and a shame that there are men who cool down the women and demand sounds from them. On the contrary, one must strengthen them, and improve oneself in whatever one can in matters of tznius and technology, so that we may belong to the camp of Hashem.
The Rebbe then said that we need much Divine mercy, both regarding the chinuch decrees in New York and in England, and the decree to draft yeshiva bochurim in Eretz Yisroel. In the holy city of Yerushalayim, the Rav z"l passed away, leaving a tremendous void in the Edah HaChareidis that was established by the gedolei Yisroel. We need much siyata d'Shmaya so that it should not, Heaven forbid, be destroyed.
The Rebbe then spoke about the need to strengthen the mosdos in Eretz Yisroel that do not take money from the government. "How great are the words of the Sages" who warned that if money is taken, changes will be made to the learning, as we already see clearly in various mosdos that are already making changes for the worse. In particular, there is an obligation on the talmidim of the Rebbe zy"a to support "Mosdos Yitav Lev," for which the Rebbe zy"a gave so much mesirus nefesh. The Rebbe also praised the holy Mesivta, the yeshiva at his kever, with its 7 branches and close to a thousand talmidim.
The Rebbe then spoke about matters of galus and geulah, and related a story of the Beirach Moshe zy"a with a person who was engaging in sharp analysis of these matters, what will happen before and afterward during the time of the geulah. He did not answer him at all, but showed him the Rambam, who writes that one may not involve oneself in these matters. He concluded with abundant blessings in the merit of the Baal HaHilula.

After the holy words, the Rebbe shlit"a recited Bircas Hamazon over a cup. They concluded at around 10:50.

A few minutes later, the Rebbe entered for Maariv in the Large Beis Medrash, with R' Shlomo Zalman Stein as the baal tefillah.

At around 12:00 after midnight, the Rebbe participated in the levaya of the wife of the distinguished philanthropist R' Yitzchak Zev Weinstock, one of the greatest supporters of our holy mosdos everywhere. At about 12:45 the Rebbe returned to the beis medrash, where he comforted the mourners who were sitting shiva there, in the hall of the tahara room.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Yoel Gantz.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up for shlishi. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochur in his private room.

At around 8:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

In the evening, the night of the holy hilula of the Rebbe zy"a, founder of the city of Kiryas Joel, the historic holy gathering, the "Assembly of Righteous Women," of the women residents of the city, "Kiryas Melech, Kiryas Joel and its surroundings, may Hashem protect them," took place in the gigantic tent set up in the shul courtyard of the Rebbe's beis medrash, between the Beis Medrash HaGadol and the Mivtzar HaKollelim building. The huge building was filled within a short time with thousands of righteous women, and the organizers had to hurriedly open the adjoining large hall in the Beis Medrash HaGadol building to accommodate close to ten thousand righteous women of the city who all came together to hear the word of Hashem proudly, the call of the hour from the Rebbe of the holy community, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, and at his call they gathered.

At around 9:10 the Rebbe shlit"a entered onto the special platform in the gigantic tent, which was illuminated by the rabbonim and dayanim of our holy kehilla, headed by the HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a.

The speech continued with HaRav R' Berel Taub shlit"a, a gifted speaker, who welcomed the Rebbe of the community, the Rebbe shlit"a.

A holy trembling gripped the assembled as the Rebbe shlit"a began his lengthy, fiery holy words. The Rebbe shlit"a took as his theme the verse "Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth," and explained that by listening to the talk and accepting good resolutions, one merits that tefillos are accepted. With burning words the Rebbe continued, that as we stand on the day of the hilula of the Rebbe zy"a, founder of the city, which is named after him, all residents must remember to walk in his ways, as he wanted people to conduct themselves. With broad explanation he spoke for a lengthy time about the merit of being a Jewish mother and a chassidish woman, the obligation to be Jews who are lechatchilah, and to stay far from the Jewish-gentile street, which includes all clothing, cutting the hair, coloring the face, the length of the dresses, the pockets, etc. He also awakened people regarding the forbidden wigs, the modern head coverings, and the snoods and the like, and called on parents to dress the boys chassidish in all details and fine points, and to be guarded from impure items of any name.
There are two camps among us, a camp of Hashem and a camp of the coarse. To belong to the camp of Hashem one must be a person without compromise! Not to do things that were forbidden among us. One must be sincerely upright inside, be careful with a light matter as with a severe one, as repeated from the holy Tzanzer Rav zy"a and from the holy Kedushas Yom Tov zy"a, who promised salvation and healing to those who take on good resolutions in modesty, and he proclaimed forcefully, "In their merit and on their word it can be promised that there will be salvation for those who take on good resolutions in modesty."
With holy fire he spoke about the prohibition of real-hair wigs, and said, "When a Jew has trouble, he goes up to the holy kever." The Rebbe zy"a demands that we walk in his ways. The Rebbe zy"a called out about hair, "Woe, hair!" For a few hairs, one loses both worlds! The Rebbe z"l was exacting, and he said during his lifetime, "Whoever goes with hair, I will not forgive!" How can anyone not fear his displeasure?
Afterward the Rebbe concluded with abundant blessings.
After these words that hew flames of fire, at around 11:00, HaRav R' Berel Taub shlit"a got up with the resolutions of the assembly.

At around 11:45 the Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home. The Rebbe lit 5 candles and went to the amud in honor of the holy hilula.
