The Second Night of Chol HaMoed, Ushpizin of Moshe Rabbeinu, the Faithful Shepherd "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At around 8:00 the Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in his holy home.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the gathering of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah in the large sukkah at around 10:30.
After reciting the order of the Ushpizin, the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the Yom Tov seudah.

The sponsors of the Ushpizin set out wine, as is customary. After the Yom Tov foods, a number of special kugels and delicacies in honor of Yom Tov were served from several of the Ushpizin sponsors; the Rebbe tasted them and distributed shirayim.

The Rebbe honored the following with Shir HaMaalos:
HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Naftali Hirtzka Zwebel shlit"a, Rosh Av Beis Din of Williamsburg.
HaRav HaGaon R' Yoel Gutman shlit"a, Moreh Tzedek in our kehilla.
HaRav HaGaon R' Lipa Berkowitz shlit"a, Moreh Tzedek in our kehilla.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse that Moshe Rabbeinu said, "Haazinu hashamayim va'adabeira," explaining that through the mitzvah of sukkah, teshuva together with tefillah helps for all aveiros, and that a mikvah has the segulah of subduing the kelipos; the sukkah has the same segulah, and thus the tefillos of Yisroel will be accepted with mercy and favor.

Birkas Hamazon: HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Brisk shlit"a, Dayan and Moreh Tzedek of Tosh, Monsey. After bentching there was dancing in honor of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah, and it ended at around 12:15.

Motzei Yom Tov, the first night of Chol HaMoed – Ushpizin of Yaakov – "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Vayetze Yaakov mi'Be'er Sheva vayelech Charana," explaining that through the power of faith in the Creator one can attain teshuva and all rectifications.

Birkas Hamazon: HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Rzeszów shlit"a, and Rosh Yeshiva of our yeshiva in Boro Park. After bentching there was dancing in honor of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah, and it ended at around 12:50.

First Day of Chol HaMoed

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for Shacharis at around 9:55. Baal Tefillah: HaRav HaChassid R' Yuda Eliezer Gottesman.

The Rebbe shlit"a proceeded to Hallel and performed his holy service during the shaking of the lulav with great fervor and arousal, and afterward recited the Hoshanos. Opening the Aron Kodesh was an honor given to R' Avrohom Dovid Wagschal shlit"a (Monsey).

In the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a delivered brief holy words and a Yom Tov blessing through a live hook-up to our chassidim in Bnei Brak, at the Ushpizin seudah of Moshe Rabbeinu, together with Simchas Beis HaShoeivah, in the large sukkah of our great beis medrash in Shikun. After the divrei Torah in honor of the day, the Rebbe expressed his close connection of the heart with the chassidim of Bnei Brak, and his pleasure at the good greetings he hears back from the kehilla, mosdos and yeshiva, and concluded with abundant blessings for the entire gathering.

In the evening, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Menachem Meir Weissmandl shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Nitra, Monsey, paid a Yom Tov visit to the Rebbe shlit"a in the sukkah of his holy home. A pleasant conversation in Torah and chassidus and matters of the Yom Tov took place for an extended time. The Rebbe shlit"a honored him with a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings upon him.

After the visit, at around 7:10, the Rebbe shlit"a davened Mincha in his holy home.

Leil Beis of Yom Tov, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At the usual time, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Maariv. R' Shalom Yitzchak Scher led the davening before the amud. The davening concluded at around 8:00, the crowd passed by to wish a good Yom Tov, and the Rebbe went home to his holy residence.

At around 11:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the first "Ushpiza of Yitzchak" in the large sukkah adjacent to the main beis medrash, and recited the order of the Ushpizin.

From the sweet fruits, the Rebbe shlit"a distributed shirayim to the ba'alei ushpizin.
The ba'alei ushpizin set out wine and brought delicacies in honor of Yom Tov. The Rebbe shlit"a tasted and distributed shirayim.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon R' Shlomo Yunger shlit"a, dayan of the Tash beis medrash in Kiryas Joel, to sing the piyut.

The Rebbe shlit"a said a Torah thought on the verse "See, the fragrance of my son is like the fragrance of a field that Hashem has blessed," and explained that the rule is "we ascend in holiness and do not descend"; although there was a churban of the Beis HaMikdash, the third Beis HaMikdash will be greater, "the glory of the latter House shall be greater than the first." This is a consolation for baalei teshuva, that they are elevated to a higher level than completely righteous people. The lofty joy that existed when the Beis HaMikdash stood will be far greater when the Beis HaMikdash is rebuilt.

Before Birkas Hamazon, the Rebbe shlit"a related an incident from when the Rebbe was with his holy uncle, the Divrei Yoel zt"l, in the sukkah at the Ushpiza of Aharon.
The Rebbe honored his grandson Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Taub shlit"a, son-in-law of the Rav of the Yismach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a, with leading Birkas Hamazon.

After bentching, they sang the new Hakafos niggun, and the Rebbe stood up and danced in honor of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah. The gathering ended at around 12:50.

On the second day of Yom Tov in the morning, at around 10:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered for davening. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Chaim Elisha Grossman shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud for Shacharis and Hallel and davened with outpouring of the soul, and prolonged the holy service of the shaking of the lulav with deveikus and holy emotion. After Hallel, the Rebbe shlit"a recited the Hoshanos with great arousal and walked around the bimah in the beis medrash.

Hotza'ah and Hachnasah honors were given to: HaGaon R' Yoel Heiman shlit"a, moreh tzedek in our kehilla in Williamsburg, and Rabbi Chaim Meisels shlit"a, son of the Av Beis Din of Montreal shlit"a. Pesukei Shema Yisroel: HaGaon R' Moshe Teitelbaum shlit"a, dayan of the Beis Shmuel Binyamin beis medrash.

At the afternoon tish at his holy residence, they sang the piyut of Yotzer, and the Rebbe then honored those present to sing joyous niggunim in honor of Yom Tov.
The Rebbe shlit"a honored his grandson the bochur Dovid Dov Meisels, son of the Rav of the Yismach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a, with leading Birkas Hamazon.

In the afternoon at around 7:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Mincha. R' Yitzchak Feuerstein shlit"a led the davening before the amud.
At the time of Rabbeinu Tam, Maariv was held. R' Chaim Yaakov Gutman led the davening before the amud.

After Maariv, the Rebbe shlit"a went into the large sukkah and made Havdalah. He then stood up and wished the entire congregation a good week and a good Moed. The gathering ended at around 8:00.

The First Days of Yom Tov Sukkos, Z'man Simchaseinu — "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Erev Yom Tov in the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a bound the lulav and recited the yehi ratzon as is customary.

At night, at around 7:05, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash and went to the amud for Mincha. Maariv was led by R' Dovid Eckstein of Eretz Yisroel. The davening ended at around 8:10, the congregation went over to wish each other a good Yom Tov, and the Rebbe went home.

At around 10:40, the Rebbe shlit"a came in for the first "Ushpizin of Avrohom" in the large sukkah adjoining the main beis medrash, recited the Seder HaUshpizin and the prayer for the first night, and sat down at the tish, as is customary.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Wolf Friedman shlit"a to sing the piyut.
He said Torah on the Midrash "You said: 'And rest under the tree' — I swear that I will repay your children with the mitzvah of sukkah," and explained that the letters of the Avos HaKedoshim were written on the banners; the letter Heh of Avrohom, which alludes to the mitzvah of sukkah, was above the Jewish children and protected them, and it protects them to this very day.

Birkas Hamazon was led by R' Avrohom Weider, the mayor, and it ended at around 12:10.

On the first day of Yom Tov in the morning, after the mikvah, the Rebbe shlit"a fulfilled the mitzvah of the four minim in the sukkah of his home with great reverence and love, and he also set aside an additional set of four minim for the bochurim guests from abroad.

At around 9:45, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for davening. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon Rabbi Henoch Scher shlit"a. For Shacharis and Hallel, the Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud with great outpouring of the soul, and prolonged his holy service during the shaking of the lulav with deveikus and holy emotion. After Hallel, the Rebbe recited the Hoshanos with great arousal and circled the bimah in the beis medrash.
