Report
At around 7:45 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a arrived at the mighty fortress of the new Talmud Torah building, the "Klein Building," in the Kiryas Joel mosdos, for the central "Chanukas HaBayis" event, which took place in a regal manner in the magnificent "Klein Garden" hall, set aside for the great donors of the building, together with the building's benefactor, the Rabbani and philanthropist R' Akiva Hersh Klein.
R' Yechezkel Shraga Gelbstein, son-in-law of the Rabbani and philanthropist R' Akiva Hersh, continued with a address. Afterward the chairman, the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Moshe Meisels shlit"a, took the podium and spoke of the tremendous merit the donor earned by building this mighty fortress, and called upon the donor to come and share his feelings. The donor, R' Akiva Hersh, then spoke with words of excitement in honor of the occasion and recited the blessing of Shehecheyanu with Hashem's Name and Kingship in honor of the inauguration of the building. Afterward the Rebbe rose and danced for an extended time, embracing the esteemed donor. Then the director of the mosdos, HaRav R' Meir Hirsch, took the podium and spoke on behalf of the mosdos.

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of Torah and expressed Kiryas Joel's joy at inaugurating such a large building, in which close to 2,000 students learn, and praised the donor who merited to build it. He said that this inauguration is a beginning toward a second building, as the esteemed donor's hand is still outstretched to build another large building, even greater, for the chinuch of girls, and he pledged 10 million dollars for the new building, the Beis Rochel building.

In this context the Rebbe related a story about the Divrei Yoel zy"a: two litigants who had a dispute came to the Rebbe about it. Upon arriving, they decided to give money to tzedakah to the Rebbe, and a dispute broke out again between them over whose mitzvah and merit it would be. The Rebbe, in his great wisdom, called out: the Mishnah says "one mitzvah brings another mitzvah." I will see who adds to the sum, and then I will know that the mitzvah is his.

Regarding the matter at hand, the Rebbe continued: we are at a chanukas habayis; R' Akiva Hersh merited such a great mitzvah, so there must have been an earlier mitzvah that brought about this mitzvah. The Rebbe said that R' Akiva Hersh built hundreds of apartments in the Vyoel Moshe neighborhood, and even though he had already made the contracts with the buyers a few years earlier, and construction prices had risen considerably, he held to the original price and handed over the apartments without asking for even one penny more. This is "one mitzvah brings another mitzvah." In the merit of this mitzvah between man and his fellow, he merited to donate these two mighty buildings for the chinuch of boys and girls. The Rebbe also urged all other builders and developers: "From him they shall learn and so shall they do," for the benefit of the public!!!

The Rebbe concluded with a blessing of abundant success for all the donors, first R' Akiva Hersh, who has the foremost share, and the other major partners who purchased tremendous merits in the building.

The Rebbe shlit"a drank a lechayim and warmly wished the esteemed donor of the building well, and the larger donors of the building came forward, and the Rebbe warmly wished each one personally and distributed shirayim.

The Rebbe left the hall at around 9:30, on the way home to his holy residence, where the Rebbe davened Maariv.

At around 11:00 the Rebbe shlit"a went to the home of the Chadvan, HaGaon HaRav, Rav of the Yismach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a, for the Vachnacht celebration of his grandson, born to Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Rokeach shlit"a. A pleasant conversation ensued, and the Rebbe drank a lechayim and bestowed from his holy blessings upon the baal simcha and the entire family. On his way out, the Rebbe recited Krias Shema and wished the mother well.
