Report
Thursday, Parshas Shemini, 26 Nissan, Yom Hilula Kadisha of the Beirach Moshe zy"a — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Beis Medrash HaGadol together with hundreds of yeshiva bochurim.
Before davening, the Rebbe lit 5 candles in honor of the holy yahrzeit. Afterwards, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.
- the bochur Dovid Zigil.
- the bochur Yechiel Dovid Friedman.
- the bochur Aharon Dovid Rubinstein.
The Rebbe led the davening as the chazan with great hisorerus, and during the Torah reading was called up for Shlishi.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place before the aliyah l'tziyon hakadosh. Stirring melodies were sung, the Rebbe drank a lechayim and gave a blessing to the entire congregation, and honored R' Aharon Meir Meizlish shlit"a (of Boro Park) with the "Michtam L'Dovid."

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of Torah and preparation before the aliyah l'tziyon on the verse "This is the thing which Hashem has commanded you to do, and the glory of Hashem will appear to you," and explained it in the teachings of the Baal HaHilula zy"a, who in everything looked to ensure that it would bring out the glory of Hashem, and never took any action for his own benefit, both in his personal conduct and in the conduct of the kehilla. Everyone must think about this and take it with them on the holy yahrzeit, and he blessed that we should accomplish all that is best.

After the lechayim gathering, at around 12:30, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the holy tziyon together with thousands of members of the kehilla and talmidim of the yeshiva. Upon arriving at the cemetery, the Rebbe recited the blessing, entered the holy ohel, lit five candles with a neshama light, and recited the tefilla Shalom Aleichem attributed to the Yismach Moshe zy"a.
The Rebbe was the baal tefilla, recited the chapters of Tehillim from 90 through 107 as is customary, recited the Yehi Ratzon and Kaddish, then learned Mishnayos and recited Kaddish D'Rabbanan. While the Rebbe read the kvitlach, they sang the stirring melodies that were sung in the beis medrash of the holy Baal HaHilula. Afterwards, the Rebbe prostrated himself on the holy tziyon for an extended time. They concluded at around 1:20.

In the afternoon at around 7:45, the Rebbe shlit"a came in for Mincha in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. Before davening, the Rebbe lit five candles and approached the amud.

After Mincha, at around 8:20, the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the holy tish and the hilula seudah.
After washing, the Rebbe made a siyum on Shas and recited Kaddish. After the fish, the Rebbe gave a lechayim to the entire congregation, saying "His merit should protect us and all Yisroel," and they continued with melodies of deveikus and longing that were sung in the beis medrash of the Baal HaHilula zy"a.
The Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Baruch Weiss shlit"a, Rav of the Kenizsa beis medrash, a talmid of the Baal HaHilula, with the "Michtam L'Dovid."

At around 9:15 the Rebbe shlit"a began his holy words and words relevant to the hour. He based them on the verse "This is the thing which Hashem has commanded you to do, and the glory of Hashem will appear to you," explaining it in the teachings of the Baal HaHilula, and brought out the path of the holy Rebbes zy"a and onward: to bestow all good upon Jewish children is through speaking Torah. So too the holy Baal HaHilula zy"a conducted himself, with speaking Torah and delivering derashos at all times. The Rebbe spoke about his greatness and righteousness in the three pillars of the world, his diligence in Torah and spreading Torah to his students, his fervent tefillos at the amud. He was a merciful father to broken hearts and distributed enormous tzedakah, both to those who knew and those who did not. He spoke of his holy work to strengthen and uplift our kehilla and our holy mosdos around the world, and he strengthened the many mosdos of the Eidah HaChareidis in Eretz Yisroel, especially the "Kollel Eitz Chaim," which he founded and which now stands under the leadership of his brother, HaGaon Rabbi, Rav of our kehilla in Boro Park 15, shlit"a, who bears the burden with faithfulness and devotion. We must try to help with whatever we can, and support it with a generous spirit. The Rebbe continued about the joy of the holy Baal HaHilula zy"a in expanding the boundaries of holiness in the great city together with Kiryas Joel; his first action immediately after the passing of the holy Divrei Yoel zy"a was to bring the yeshiva out of the city. The Rebbe spoke about the good fruits of our holy yeshiva and exhorted not to send children away to outside yeshivas.

The Rebbe strongly emphasized the expansion of the boundaries of Kiryas Joel, as more streets and more neighborhoods continue to be added, both in Kiryas Joel and in Kiryas Joel HaMurchevet, where all residents conduct themselves as befits a resident of Kiryas Joel. The holy Baal HaHilula zy"a always said that this is only a deposit from the holy Divrei Yoel zy"a and that he hoped to be able to return it in full. He said that not only was it returned in full, but much was added, and since his father's passing we continue, as one commanded and fulfilling, to add as much as we can, materially and spiritually. He also exhorted the residents that we must ensure that batei medrash, mikvaos and a moreh hora'ah are provided in every new area.
Kiryas Joel is a "city great," great in opinions, with many viewpoints. But everyone must know that someone who is not of one outlook with the holy founder of the city zy"a in all matters has no business opening a beis medrash in the city of Kiryas Joel. This also applies to a leader who goes to the Kotel HaMaaravi, which is contrary to the opinion of the holy Rebbe zy"a. It is brazen to open a beis medrash in a city named after him, both in Kiryas Joel and in Kiryas Joel HaMurchevet. It is not proper and it is against logic.

The Rebbe then spoke strongly about the tremendous accomplishments of recent years regarding apartment prices in Kiryas Joel, and Baruch Hashem it is visible, with hundreds of apartments being built at affordable prices. "And I will stand on my post," and I will stand guard so that prices remain at $300 per square foot in Kiryas Joel and $250 per square foot in Kiryas Joel HaMurchevet. He mentioned favorably all the builders who complied with the takanos, "may Hashem repay their deeds," and the members of the apartments committee, to whom all of Kiryas Joel owes hakaras hatov. At the end of his words, the Rebbe mentioned the bitter situation in Eretz Yisroel with the decrees of drafting yeshiva students, for which we need abundant Heavenly mercy, and the many actions for good by the "Merkaz Ezra V'Yeutz" to rescue thousands of yeshiva students from the military, and the chinuch decrees here in New York, that we should be able to continue educating the children according to our mesorah. He concluded with his holy blessing.

For Birkas HaMazon, the Rebbe honored his brother, HaGaon Rabbi, Rav of our kehilla in Boro Park 15, shlit"a.

After the hilula seudah, the Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in Cheder Avraham Yuda and approached the counting of the Omer. They concluded at around 10:30.
