The Word of Hashem to Yerushalayim

This afternoon, which was already evening in Eretz Yisroel, the Satmar chassidim, residents of the holy city of Yerushalayim, merited to hear the words of the living G-d from the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a at the hilula seudah, the annual dinner for the benefit of the mosdos, together with a siyum on Maseches Sanhedrin of the "Toras'cha Shaashuai" chaburah. The Rebbe shlit"a conveyed his illuminating teachings on the Baal HaHilula zy"a, along with words of chizuk and the obligations of the hour regarding the issues currently at hand.

The Rebbe shlit"a based his words on the verse "See, I place before you today a blessing," and explained it in connection with "fear of Heaven precedes wisdom," which is the aspect of Yerushalayim. This was the avodah of the holy Rebbe, the Baal HaHilula zy"a: to instill yirah first and then Torah. The Rebbe shlit"a brought out the strong and firm bond of the holy Rebbe zy"a to the holy city of Yerushalayim, and his avodah of instilling his Torah and yirah.

"This was the life-force of holiness of my uncle z"l throughout his days, to instill his Torah and to instill yirah. But instilling fear of Hashem before wisdom is an aspect of Yerushalayim; 'he was connected to the holy city of Yerushalayim with a strong and firm bond,' and so he was in the aspect of Yerushalayim, first yirah and afterwards Torah. And every one of our chassidim throughout the world must know this, especially the residents of the holy city of Yerushalayim, and on this holy day they should accept upon themselves to walk in his ways, and by his ways is meant those of 'Yerushalayim': yirah together with Torah."

The Rebbe shlit"a also brought out the praise of our holy mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim. "I want to praise our mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim, which indeed go on this path, 'yirah and Torah,' and one hears of great success among all the students, whether in the talmud torah, in the yeshiva ketana, or those who sit in the kollel; they succeed in yirah and in Torah, in the aspect of fear of Hashem preceding wisdom. Therefore, when our chassidim gather together on the day of the great hilula, it must be known that there is a tremendous obligation on every single member of our chassidim and on the parents of the students to come to the aid of the administration for the success of the mosdos, with body, soul and money.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a spoke of the tremendous influence of completing a masechta, regarding the siyum on Maseches Sanhedrin of the "Toras'cha Shaashuai" chaburah, as follows: "Within the framework of the Toras'cha Shaashuai chaburah, a siyum on Maseches Sanhedrin was made and they began learning Maseches Makkos. The first letters of 'HaBracha asher tishmeu' spell 'Torah,' which is a hint that there is a great blessing when one finishes a masechta in Shas. May Hashem help that since Maseches Sanhedrin was completed, we should soon complete Maseches Makkos. Maseches Makkos is, unfortunately, a very difficult and bitter masechta. It is the chapter 'Elu Hen HaLokin,' the Jewish children who, unfortunately, are being beaten. We learn the chapter 'Elu Hen HaLokin' in all places; they are beaten in this way and in that way. The troubles of Klal Yisroel are, unfortunately, very many. We should beseech the Holy One, Blessed is He, that we should soon make a siyum on the chapter 'Elu Hen HaLokin,' a siyum on Maseches Makkos."

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a strengthened the askanim in the beis medrash who stand guard to remove impure vessels from Jewish homes, and he exhorted that the tefillos in the beis medrash should be proper tefillos, with measured pace, aloud, and with enthusiasm, and, Heaven forbid, that one should not take out a cellphone in the beis medrash in the middle of davening. He also spoke out regarding the clothing of women, that it should be with tzniyus, and regarding the clothing of the children: "The damage in matters of holiness in the holy city of Yerushalayim, in the palace of the King, is much more severe than in any other place."

Afterwards the Rebbe spoke words of preparation for the holy days, to make the proper preparation and to increase in Torah study and in tefillah.
At the end of the holy address, the Rebbe shlit"a spoke of expanding the borders of holiness within the kehilla and the mosdos, which needs to receive fresh energies in order to be able to carry out great undertakings to expand the borders of holiness. In this connection he appointed a central administration for our holy kehilla and its mosdos and said, "I am speaking here to a gathering of our chassidim in the holy city of Yerushalayim, and I want to appoint a kehilla administration. Baruch Hashem, our kehilla in the holy city of Yerushalayim has grown, it has grown in quantity and in quality, and great undertakings need to be done to expand the borders of holiness. I feel that it is necessary to appoint a kehilla administration."

He also praised all the askanim who are appointed in the kehilla, whether in the talmud torah, the yeshiva, or the kollel, for raising the glory of Torah and yirah, and wished them success, b'ezras Hashem.

The Rebbe shlit"a continued, "But it is necessary to appoint a kehilla administration that will be over all matters; they should be appointed over the entire institution in all matters. The administration will be connected with the Vaad HaElyon here in America, and they will also have a connection with me, in everything that concerns the administration of our holy kehilla. I hope that they will lead the kehilla peacefully, b'ezras Hashem, with great success.

The Rebbe then accepted the administration for the advancement of our holy kehilla. "These are the names of the men, well-known names, honest askanim, devoted people who have already been doing askanus faithfully for years: R' Yissachar Bezalel Yacob, R' Yisroel Mordechai Felberbaum, R' Yehoshua Klein, R' Nosson Binyomin Roth, and I want to bless them with a blessing of 'blessing and great success; may they merit to increase Torah and glorify it for the honor of Hashem and His holy Torah." Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a concluded with his holy blessings to the entire holy congregation.
