Continuation of the report of Shabbos Kodesh Parshas Re'eh, Shabbos Mevarchim Elul, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

At around 7:05 in the afternoon, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for "Pirkei Avos." The Rebbe shlit"a began with Perek 5, Mishnah 5, "Ten miracles were performed for our fathers in the Beis HaMikdash," etc. He explained the entire mishnah by way of aggadah, derush, and mussar. The Rebbe shlit"a spoke about the topics of holiness in eating among tzaddikim, the halacha of shlichus, bittul b'rov, and the trait of humility, that it brings about the Divine Presence resting, while its opposite is the kelipah of Amalek, and that "placing an idol in everything" does not mean pure thoughts. Through the influence of the Beis HaMikdash, wealth did not cause harm, and the souls were not exchanged for the soul of a gentile. At the end, he urged everyone to remain within the boundaries of Kiryas Joel, the place where there is much Torah and much fear of Heaven, and not to say "the place is too narrow for me" and go to places where there is casting off of the yoke and comfortable Yiddishkeit. He also aroused everyone to teshuvah and to rectifying their deeds in anticipation of the days of Elul approaching us. It ended at 8:05.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at 8:35. Mincha: HaRav HaChassid R' Moshe Falkowitz. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: HaRav HaChassid R' Aharon Zev Glauber, of Williamsburg. Kohen: HaRav HaChassid R' Eliezer Glanzer. Levi: HaRav HaChassid R' Avrohom Simcha Hirsch. Shlishi: HaGaon Rabbi Yeshaya Gedaliah Kaufman shlit"a, dayan and moreh tzedek of Krali. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: HaGaon Rabbi Uriel Yoel Kaira.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the singing of the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: HaRav HaChassid R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: HaRav HaChassid R' Moshe Goldstein. At the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a began with the verse "See, I place before you today a blessing," and explained by way of mussar that during the blowing of the shofar one can merit to hear Hashem Himself blowing the shofar, and through this merit true teshuvah. But for this, one must increase in teshuvah and rectifying deeds during the days of Elul, and strengthen oneself in the observance of the Torah and mitzvos, in guarding the eyes, in thought, and in all matters. At the end of the Torah discourse, the Rebbe concluded with the blessings of the Kodesh, in a weeping voice: "May Hashem help us that we should indeed merit to do teshuvah in full, that we should merit 'may the year and its curses end, may the year and its blessings begin,' a good kesivah v'chasimah for all of Klal Yisroel. It has been such a difficult year, so many tzaros of Yisroel, so much anguish that Jewish children have endured. 'This year was something more than an ordinary year,' such misfortunes that had not been heard of before. May Hashem say to the tzaros of Yisroel 'enough,' that we may merit the raising of the glory of the Torah and of Yisroel, with the revelation of the glory of Heaven upon us, speedily in our days, Amen."

For Maariv on Motzei Shabbos, the Rebbe shlit"a davened before the amud in honor of the yahrzeit of his grandfather, the Yetev Lev zy"a. After Havdalah, everyone passed by to wish a good week. It ended at 10:55.
