Report
On Hoshana Rabbah eve, from after Mincha until Mishneh Torah, dozens of fresh guests from overseas entered with kvitlach to receive a blessing in the inner sanctum by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a in his holy residence.

At about 9:55 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the great beis medrash for the reading of Mishneh Torah and recited the tefillah of "Ribbon HaOlamim." The baal korei was R' Shalom Yosef Samet. They finished at about 11:40.

A few minutes later the Rebbe shlit"a entered the holy tish, the night of Hoshana Rabbah, the ushpizin of Dovid HaMelech Moshiach, in the great sukkah.

After reciting the Seder HaUshpizin, the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the Yom Tov seudah. At the lechayim after the fish, the Rebbe wished, "A good, blessed year." During the elevated tish, the Yamim Noraim melodies were sung with great inspiration while the Rebbe shlit"a shed rivers of tears.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the following with Shir HaMaalos:
HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yoel Halberstam shlit"a, Rav of our kehilla in Bloomingrove.
HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Naftali Hirtzka Zwebel shlit"a, Rosh Av Beis Din of Williamsburg.
HaGaon Rabbi Zalman Yuda Kahana shlit"a (Boro Park).

In his Torah address, the Rebbe shlit"a focused on the verse "Shir HaMaalos, mima'amakim keraticha Hashem," and explained that when Jews pray on the holy day to be helped with all kinds of salvations, they must have forgiveness of sins. In order to merit forgiveness of sin, one must at least sit and wait, hoping to the Holy Creator for purification from all sin.

Birkas Hamazon: the Chadvan HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Dovid Dov Dushinsky shlit"a. They finished at 1:10.

After the tish, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Tehillim. The baal tefillah was R' Asher Yaakov Eckstein, and after each book the yehi ratzon for Hoshana Rabbah was recited. They finished at 3:10.

On Hoshana Rabbah morning at 10:50 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in the tallis, kittel and kappel of the Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zy"a.

Before davening, the brisos took place of the bochur Wolf Brasch Katz (Williamsburg), and of the bochur Yoel Beri'ah Markowitz.

The Rebbe shlit"a went to the brachos of Pesukei D'Zimra and Shacharis, and omitted Hallel HaGadol, Baruch SheAmar and Yishtabach in the Yamim Noraim nusach.

At Hallel, the Rebbe shlit"a led the holy service of the na'anuim with weeping and holy emotion, while the entire gathering of thousands of Jews sang the holy melodies as customary.

After Hallel, the Rebbe's shamash R' Yosha Mendlowitz removed the rings from the lulav.

The Rebbe shlit"a began the stirring Hoshana Rabbah derasha with the well-known parable of the holy Kedushas Yom Tov zy"a, saying "When one follows the path of the forefathers, Hashem rises up for him in the merit of the forefathers": the parable of a king who set a special time to come to the city so that people could ask forgiveness and receive whatever they request generously, and he continued at length with stormy weeping that carried along the entire beis medrash.

The Rebbe then continued at length with lofty concepts and words of inspiration for the day:
Hoshana lema'ancha Elokeinu: Specifically with Jewish children who believe in the Creator's providence in the lower worlds, it is fitting for His honor to wait until the end to remove the heavy yoke of the yetzer hara.
Hoshana lema'ancha Bor'einu: There are indeed the four types of atonement, but with prayer and the power of the mitzvah of sukkah, Hashem creates a division among the kelipos so that they cannot prosecute the Jewish people, and the tefillos and teshuva are accepted favorably.
Hoshana lema'ancha Go'aleinu: Angels, who have no yetzer hara, cannot understand the trials of flesh and blood, so we ask that only Hashem judge us favorably.
Hoshana lema'ancha Dorsheinu: Through the soul testifying to the teshuva before the Master of All, which depends on the depth of one's soul, the teshuva is accepted.
Hoshana lema'an Amitecha: In the merit of Jews saying twice daily with love "Hashem Elokeichem emes" and believing with complete faith, one receives a holy judgment and is released from being subjugated to the yetzer hara.
Hoshana lema'an Brisecha: In the merit of bris milah one can fight against the two well-known kelipos, and the tefillos are accepted.
Hoshana lema'an Gedulascha v'Samartecha: With the power of the na'anuim one shows Hashem's providence, and it helps the teshuva. The Rebbe shlit"a then concluded with many blessings.

The derasha ended at about 2:45, and they began circling the beis medrash. The Rebbe shlit"a recited the Hoshanos aloud, and between the hakafos the Rosh Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a blew the shofar as customary. After the circling the piyutim were recited, and after Kaddish Tiskabel the Rebbe beat the Hoshanos 5 times and recited the yehi ratzon as customary.
