Monday 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At around 8:30 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the local beis medrash for Shacharis. During the Torah reading, the following were honored. Pesicha: HaRav HaChassid R' Moshe Menachem Schlesinger (Kiryas Joel); Kohen: R' Yoel Gross (Williamsburg); Levi: the distinguished bochur Yitzchak Baruch Mandel (Kiryas Joel); Shlishi: the Rebbe shlit"a; Hagbah: HaGaon Rabbi Ezra Moshe Kaira shlit"a, moreh tzedek in our kehilla in Williamsburg.

After davening the Rebbe walked home, during which a pleasant conversation took place. Among other things, they discussed the hiddurim of Turkish talleisim and the technical problems that arose with the talleisim in previous years.

In the late morning hours, at around 11:30, the Rebbe went for a walk in Nairot Deshe, where wonderful conversations took place about Torah thoughts and stories of tzaddikim, as well as a longer conversation about the early years of the Zionist idea and the devastation it caused after the First World War.

In the evening at 5:30 the Rebbe entered for Mincha. Between Mincha and Maariv the Rebbe learned, Maariv was davened at the time of Rabbeinu Tam, and after Maariv the Rebbe shlit"a sanctified the moon in the courtyard in front of the beis medrash.

At around 8:20 (11:20 New York time) the Rebbe shlit"a delivered a eulogy by telephone for his mechutan, the Alesk Rebbe zt"l. The Rebbe based himself on the verse "This is my God and I will glorify Him, the God of my father and I will exalt Him," delivered words of eulogy for the distinguished niftar, and brought out how he was a follower in the ways of his forefathers. He also spoke about the tremendous loss this is for his kehilla and for the entire family.
