Day of Bedikas Chametz – Burning the Chametz: 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Thursday, Parshas Acharei (1) – Bedikas Chametz

Before davening, the bris of the newborn son of R' Shimon Yoel Klein took place, at which the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash. During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up as Shlishi. After the reading, chasanim from Eretz Yisroel and Europe who had come to spend the sedarim in the Rebbe's presence bentched Gomel.

In the evening, at around 7:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Route 105 (Seitz 105).

At around 7:55, the Rebbe arrived at the hall of the main beis medrash for the uplifting gathering of "Drawing Our Water" (Mayim Shelanu), in the presence of thousands of Kiryas Joel residents. Stirring melodies were sung. The Rebbe then delivered holy words on the Gemara in Maseches Pesachim regarding the people of Pumbedisa who did not know what mayim shelanu was, and spoke words of preparation for Yom Tov Pesach: by drawing mayim shelanu, a holiness is drawn into the matzah, and it purifies and sanctifies and brings healing to the world, both spiritually, as it extinguishes the desires of this world, and physically, as it brings healing to the sick of Israel. By making a preparation with care and joy before fulfilling the mitzvah of matzah, holiness enters our bodies. "Fortunate are we, how good is our portion, and who is like us." Afterward, they continued with stirring melodies and sang "Vihi Noam." The Rebbe rose and recited the Leshem Yichud, drew the water for the sake of the mitzvah, and poured it into the pitchers. The Rebbe then honored the Rabbonim, HaGaonim, sons and sons-in-law of the Rebbe shlit"a, and the dayanim of our kehilla to draw mayim shelanu. Afterward, the Rebbe broke into a fiery dance, a dance of joy and holiness, "who has chosen us," for an extended time. It concluded at around 8:45, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At Tzeis (Rabbeinu Tam's time), the Rebbe entered the hall of the beis medrash for Maariv. After Maariv, the Rebbe went home to his holy residence, where the Rebbe performed bedikas chametz. The Rebbe went out to the outer room and placed the ten pieces around the table as is customary, recited the blessing on the removal of chametz, and searched the entire house. Afterward he recited Kol Chamira with outpouring of the soul.

Late at night, the Rebbe sat for an extended time and reviewed the lists of all the Kimcha D'Pischa contributions, in astronomical sums, which the Rebbe sent out in honor of Yom Tov to needy Jews, and in Eretz Yisroel to all our members in Yerushalayim, Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh, may they live, as the Rebbe completed sending out the final tzedakos before Yom Tov.
