The night of Shabbos Kodesh

On Friday, Erev Shabbos, in the afternoon, the Rebbe put the shtreimel on the chassanim.
The chassan Avrohom Kahana, son of HaGaon R' Aharon Yaakov shlit"a.
The chassan Mendel Gershon Feldman, the bochur Berish.

Before the time, the Rebbe lit a yahrzeit candle for 3 days.

At around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha.
After Mincha the Rebbe shlit"a went up to the aron kodesh and delivered holy words on the verse "V'atah im shamoa tishmeu b'koli," and in the course of it brought out that a seder of public Torah learning is being instituted for this Yom Tov. Every Jew has an arousal during the Yom Tov toward Torah learning, but one must see to make a vessel to receive immediately. The 2 hours will be a down payment and the rest will be throughout the year. Measure for measure will be the blessings of the Yom Tov: the down payment of heavenly blessings will come already now, and the remainder will follow throughout the year from Above.

Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Shlomo Katz shlit"a, one of the rabbonim of our holy kehilla in Bnei Brak. After Maariv the Rebbe approached the amud and counted the last sefirah, "b'lahav aish." They finished at around 10:30. The tzibbur went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the guests took leave for a very long time, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

A short time later the Rebbe came in for the tish in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the mesivta and many guests from the community, and began, as is his holy custom, "Shalom Aleichem" with feeling and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson the bochur Meir Eliezer, son of HaGaon Rav of Beis Medrash Beirach Moshe shlit"a. Raising the cup for Kiddush: HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Shlomo Katz shlit"a. At the soup, matzah was served as customary.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: HaGaon R' Berish Rosenberg shlit"a (Williamsburg); Menucha V'Simcha: R' Herschel Kahana shlit"a (Boro Park).

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash "When Yisroel received the Torah, the nations of the world became jealous of them," and explained it in the manner of drush in the sugya of taam k'ikar, and mentioned the hilula of the holy Baal Shem Tov, who ignited a fire in taste in the fulfillment of mitzvos, that there should be taam k'ikar.

Stories and holy tales: this week the Rebbe shlit"a told about the holy Baal Shem Tov, whose yahrzeit falls on Shavuos. Kah Ribon Olam: Rabbi Chaim Meisels shlit"a, son of the Gaon, Av Beis Din of Montreal shlit"a.

The new chassanim went over to take fruit. Az B'Yom HaShevii: Rabbi Hillel, son of HaGaon R' Avrohom Meir Halberstam shlit"a. They continued with niggunim of "U'vau Kulam" and "Elyonim Sasu L'Kavod Shavuos."
They finished at around 2:00.

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe shlit"a entered to daven at 9:40. Opening of the davening: R' Shlomo Zalman Daskal (Bnei Brak). Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Aharon Yaakov Kahana shlit"a (Monsey). The Rebbe approached the amud for Shacharis. At Ahavah Rabbah the Rebbe prolonged with great arousal and outpouring of the soul, and for the chazaras hashatz he sent the Gaon, Rav of Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a.

Hotzaah and Hachnasah: HaGaon R' Yitzchak Aharon Green shlit"a. Pesukei Shema Yisroel: the Tzaddik R' Herschel Weiss shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Uhel, Boro Park.

Aliyos. Kohen: the chassan, son of R' Aharon Yaakov Kahana shlit"a, was thrown candies. Levi: R' Shlomo Bra"ch Wertzberger. Shlishi: the Gaon, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Revii: the baal simcha, the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Dovid Elimelech Halberstam shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a made the Mi Sheberach and naming on the occasion of the birth of his daughter, mazel tov, "and her name shall be called in Yisroel Reizel," after the grandmother, the Kalover Rebbetzin a"h. Chamishi: the chassan, son of R' Mendel Weiss shlit"a, was thrown candies. Shishi: the Rebbe shlit"a.

After his aliyah the Rebbe shlit"a made the Mi Sheberach and naming on the occasion of the birth of a daughter for the following baalei simcha.

After davening the simchas Kiddusha Rabbah took place for the Rebbe's granddaughter shlit"a, the newborn daughter of Rabbi Dovid Elimelech Halberstam shlit"a, son-in-law of the Gaon, Rav of Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek shlit"a. The Rebbe made Kiddush, simcha niggunim were sung, and the baal simcha Rabbi Dovid Elimelech shlit"a danced. The Rebbe wished the baal simcha and the entire tzibbur well and delivered holy words on the verse "Koh somar l'veis Yaakov," that the gentle speech to the women means that one who assists is as important, even more so, than the one who performs the mitzvah himself. They finished at around 1:15.

At the afternoon seudah in his holy home, the Rebbe honored his grandson Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a with the Shir HaYichud for Shabbos day; Birkas Hamazon: the Gaon, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a.

For Mincha and Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash at around 7:45. Mincha: R' Yissocher Yakobi, director of our mosdos in Yerushalayim. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Yisroel Bleier (Montreal). Baal Koreh: R' Chaim Heller. Kohen: Rabbi Yoel HaKohen Meisels (Vienna). Levi: R' Yudel Wertzberger (Williamsburg). Shlishi: R' Shalom Meir Kestenbaum (Boro Park). Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Aharon Moshe Schlager (Williamsburg).

The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: Rabbi Shalom Mordechai Mayer, son-in-law of R' Zalman Leib Meisels shlit"a. Shir HaMaalos: HaGaon R' Mendel Wertzberger shlit"a, dayan of our holy kehilla in Montreal.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the Midrash "When Yisroel received the Torah," and explained that in order to be able to learn Torah one needs tefillah, both so that one will merit to be able to learn and understand the learning; through doing chesed one merits, measure for measure, that the tefillah be accepted.
